Just had this from O2 on twitter after i asked about switching to a nano sim and buying the phone outright.

Just phoned Apple and they said they didn't know what time pre-orders would go live, just to check the website on the 14th.

Thats good info, so i'm guessing we'll be able to walk into an o2 store and collect one.

If you go to o2's site, it will allow you to swap your sim to a nano (once you have it) so looks like they are getting ready!

I hope the report from earlier in this thread, That 3 will only allow pre-ordering in store, for collection on the day, Is incorrect.

Anyone remember what 3 was like last year? I bought mine sim free last year from Apple.

I'm really hoping to order online from 3, For delivery to work on the Friday (or collection after work).

recorded message on their customer service line confirms this. Why what happened last year?

Ok you can definitely get a 3 SIM ONLY nano card now online.......but i'm gonna wait till tomorrow to see what Orange do.....rather stay with them if their offers are good as when they go to EE it will be sweeeeeet

Just ordered mine for £29 deposit which goes toward cost of phone

can pick network / contract etc on the day, that price just reserves you a handset.

Best deal.

T & C's dont guarantee a phone on launch day tho.

Actually that webpage has always been there for people who've had to replace their SIMs (such as damaged/stolen), I'm afraid it doesn't indicate anything more positive from O2

You use the swap my sim o2 page to go from standard to micro sim as well. I had to do that last year when I went from my old phone to 4S. Will most likely be the way to move from micro to nano.

I've had a scan through the thread (there is a lot to read) and I assume pre-orders will begin at 8AM tomorrow? Can anyone confirm this, not just with "it's what happened last year".

And here is my situation. I plan to pre-order the iPhone 5 tomorrow from Apple. I am on an Orange 12 month sim only deal which expires June 2013. Obviously I currently have a micro sim for my iPhone 4, anyone found out how to go about getting a nano sim from Orange and keeping it on my current contract? And if they will charge for it?

I can confirm 100% that pre orders are open online from 8am

its a small store in nowhere and i was the 2nd person who has ordered. ill still be there at opening time, they said they guarantee release day so good enough for me! better than queuing outside an o2 store at 6am like the ip4!
