Just wondering what companies in the uk is doing prepay iPhone 5's? As I live in Ireland since we have the same phone companies just wondering what companies will have it pay as you go for launch day on Friday? And what prices are they on pay as you go in the uk?

Most of them have put the PAYG plans to the side for now and are concentrating on contracts. All the networks offering it on contract will offer it on PAYG - but probably not in a big way for at least another 3-4 weeks when demand for contracts dies down a bit.

See I was told by an 02 employee on live chat that on Friday I will be able to buy it in store full price for the PAYG version. I even asked him three times just for clarification and he said il have no problems :/ but was in store earlier last week and they told me what you just said . But the live chat was today. Kinda confused with the mixed signals from 02.

For what its worth the one in Watford was showing as opening at 9:00.

Best bet is to call the store - will take less than a minute to find out ;)

Not sure how it's "better than expected", Three announced they were rolling out DC-HSDPA (i.e. 42mbps) months ago.

I say 'better than expected' I mean 'for me' - I was under the impression that it would be the same 'up to 21mbps' that the other networks are using.

One thing to note - you arent allowed to teather as part of that unlimited data on T-Mobile. From their 'Legal Stuff' on the iPhone plans:

On three, the unlimited data (1TB cap - you'd struggle massively to ever get anywhere near that) includes tethering allowance, and is faster than T-Mobiles 3G network.

Here's the price difference though. Take a standard 16gb iphone:

T-Mobiles cheapest plan:
Upfront phone cost: £109
Monthly cost (24 months): £36
TOTAL: £973

Here's Threes:
Upfront phone cost: £79
Monthly cost (24 months): £34
TOTAL: £895

So not only is the Three option cheaper, but it also provides a faster network. LTE is really not a 'big' factor here, because as noted, not many places will have it any time soon anyway.

That being said, what's to say that once T-Mobile/Orange customers get EE's LTE that they wont change the 'unlimited' limits?

I guess it all depends on what's important to the individual and how theyre getting their phone. Tethering isn't important to me as in my opinion it's impractical. I have a separate 3G plan for my iPad and I prefer it that way. I also don't by phones on contract any more and haven't done so since I got the iPhone 3GS. I bought both my iPhone 4 and 4S as well as my 5 SIM free off contract.

Further more we can't make judgements on the performance of EE's LTE network until its up and running and people have used it. Also Three's customer service from what I've heard is the poorest of all the networks. Also although I've not used it where I am I have spoken to several people who have and according to them the performance isn't that much better then the other networks here.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet but either way I want to leave O2 who I'm currently with as their speeds and network signal is quite poor here. I'm not really convinced Three is a worthwhile network just because its cheaper and there are some people who are getting good speeds with them.

I'm more inclined to go with EE/Orange/T-Mobile either now or wait until they announce their LTE plans and what pricing they are and what level of data they include. I also use my iPad just as much as my iPhone for data purposes so I don't completely rely on my iPhone.

anyone still in the processing items boat with me? I've got estimated delivery of 2-8 Oct and was wondering if anyone else here has that/has any estimate of when the delivery will be.
Seeing as the 1st Oct people got upgraded to the 24th? (correct me if I'm wrong) could we be looking at delivery sometime next week? I really hope so as my crappy android is on it's last legs :( every 2 days it stops sending texts, requiring a factory reset, deleting all my contacts apps and messages grrr.... :(

Hi skippymac, my estimated delivery is also 2nd oct to 8th oct. I have been logging into Apple 2-3 times a day to see if it's been moved forward but no joy yet :(

Went into the store today ready to buy but didn't realise I had to order online for the store and then they would e-mail me by 21:00 tonight to let me know if I would be able to buy one.

Luckily I am :D

As of tomorrow morning I will have a 64GB Black Slate (was a tough choice - white is very nice, black seems more 'classic').

set up a replacement today with apple, my sleep/wake button is very loose and rattles when I put it down very annoying, phoned apple they seem to think I will have a replacement shipped to me within 3-5 days but I wanted to change to white instead so that adds and extra 24hours. Atleast I get to keep this for all next week whilst I wait.

They turned a paying customer away?

No email for me yet.

Yep - was ready to pay and turned away! Couldn't believe it - If I had know I would have registered yesterday.

I reserved mine 9am on the dot, but I have a feeling apple stores don't get deliveries on Sundays.

Can anyone confirm?

So I've got my iPhone on Orange. Very happy with it. When I'm on Orange's network my carrier is shown as 'EE' but as 'Orange T-Mobile' when I'm on T-Mobile's. Is this normal? I thought it'd just say 'EE' regardless?

It seems to be happening that way for everyone on Orange at the moment. T-Mobile customers get EE showing all the time when connected to either network.

I thought as much, thanks.

Didn't EE announce via Twitter, last week, that Orange and T-Mobile iPhone 5 customers would get 'EE' at all times? Maybe somebody screwed up and it'll be rectified this week.

It's the most minor of minor concerns but makes the status bar look strange when my wifi icon is pushed right next to the clock when it displays 'Orange ...' as the carrier :)

How did you get your tacking number?

Orange gave it to me - just called 150, option 1,4,1. When i say 'just', this was eventually after speaking to them multiple times every day since I ordered. They finally traced it and sorted things out on Friday and I got a tracking number on Saturday. It didn't show anything up until today though, but now indicates 'collected' and anticpated delivery between 8-11 tomorrow morning...

In my excitement I pre-ordered from Apple but couldn't wait so picked one up from o2 on Friday!

Tried to cancel my Apple order, but it was already processing, and should arrived tomorrow.

Will my local Apple Store accept it as a return (still sealed as it comes etc... with receipt?)

As far as I'm aware Apple in the UK still don't accept returns of online orders in their stores unlike the US where certain items are accepted. You're probably going to have to call Apple customer service and arrange a return pick up by the same courier who delivered it. Apple will give you an RMA number which you have to write on the packaging.

No idea about taking it to an Apple Store, but legally you're entitled to return it up to 7 days after it arrives without any penalty.

Yes, you have a legal right to return it. At worst they could have you post it back via mail, but in reality they won't.

Not for me. Mine is saying Orange or the annoying scrolling Orange T-Mobile. Is there any way I can force is to change to EE?
