UK iPhone 5 thread

I have a separate 3G plan for my iPad and I prefer it that way. I also don't by phones on contract any more and haven't done so since I got the iPhone 3GS. Further more we can't make judgements on the performance of EE's LTE network until its up and running and people have used it. Also Three's customer service from what I've heard is the poorest of all the networks. Also although I've not used it where I am I have spoken to several people who have and according to them the performance isn't that much better then the other networks here.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet but either way I want to leave O2 who I'm currently with as their speeds and network signal is quite poor here. I'm not really convinced Three is a worthwhile network just because its cheaper and there are some people who are getting good speeds with them.

I'm more inclined to go with EE/Orange/T-Mobile either now or wait until they announce their LTE plans and what pricing they are and what level of data they include. I also use my iPad just as much as my iPhone for data purposes so I don't completely rely on my iPhone.

I was the same not sure about three, 1 bar of 3g = 2mps max iv got is 7.8 mbps in town, id reccomend them on a month contract,

Might be a daft think to ask, but have you tried connecting it to iTunes via the cable and checking for updates?

First thing I did when I received my phone was plug it in (to sync) and it received a carrier settings update which changed 'Orange' to 'EE.'

You definitely have 14 days to return but by rule you will have to mail it back
 
Have anybody got iPhone 5 from Three (3)?

I wan't to get it on Plan One (I think) which has Unlimited Data, but what about Unlocking it?
I unlocked my iPhone 4 from them for £15 (they unlocked it), but is there any conditions for iPhone 5?

I don't think they've stated anything specific for the iPhone 5. It should be the same procedure. They've never had a different policy for a specific device in the past.

You have to wait 30 days into the contract and have paid at least one bill.

The fee is £15.32

Sorry I've not got the time to read the whole thread, but has anyone who preordered (upgrade) from O2 had their iPhone 5 yet?
 
Are there any cheap but decent quality, clear iPhone 5 cases for us UK people yet? I don't mean plastic, but more like silicon gel ones?

Yup mines on 3. As far as I can tell its already unlocked. I had my old T-Mobile sim cut down and it worked for getting my PAC text from them. There doesnt seem to be iPhones specific to each network in the UK and there was no activation - the phone was working without needing a sim in there when I first turned it on.

I've ordered a cheapo sillicon one from Amazon - not been shipped yet though. Do a quick search on amazon or ebay for 'iphone 5 case' and you'll find loads of the cheapo ones.

As above - seems it may be already unlocked. I'm on the one plan too.

I just tried a Vodafone SIM in my iPhone 5 and it didn't work

(32GB Black iPhone 5 bought from the Three website on The One Plan).
 
Anyone managed to take their apple online order back to an apple store yet? Just wondering if its possible to do this.

They finally traced it and sorted things out on Friday and I got a tracking number on Saturday. I'm a new customer so can't ring 150 yet as i don't have an orange phone.

I've rang orange multiple times and spoke to various departments and no one seems to want to help. They won't even tell me if its been dispatched.
 
Hi guys.

Ive got a black iPhone 5 on order from T Mobile (a new contract) and I was wondering what the policy is with returning the phone and changing it for a different colour . Do I have to send it back directly to T Mobile? or can I go to an Apple store and change it that way?

Im hoping that I can go into an Apple store and do it as T Mobile's customer service line is so bad that it actually feels like a chore phoning them. I've never really known if the whole 'returning it to an Apple store' instead is a valid way of doing it but I thought you guys would be the best to ask.

Has anyone managed to reserve an iPhone for instore buying for the next day?

Have tried 2 days in a row and never got an email from Apple by 9 confirming the time I can collect the phone.
