So, what are Three like as a network?

I heard bad things about their coverage a few years ago. Are they still bad?

I'm currently on GiffGaff, wanting to buy a 5 unlocked. I basically want to get 3's rolling contract for now, as I can get the nano sim and move my number this week before the phone arrives, then I'll either stay with them, or move to EE if their 4G is worth getting.

Thank youuu :)

I got my iPhone 4 on Three because it was the cheapest of all networks. I soon realised why and regretted my decision after a couple of weeks and have counted down the days until my 2 year contract expires, which it did in July. I will now get an iPhone 5 on any other network apart from Three.

They all tell me that they aren't confirmed on the iPhone 5. (I assume they are the contract ones?) haven't used Quidco before :/

Seen, thanks :)

That means if you buy an iPhone 5 from Three, you won't get any of the applicable cashback deals. The £6.90 12-month contract with £50 cashback I mentioned earlier is sim-only.

On the Apple Store App the products page no longer shows the iPhone 5. Hmm.

Mine ONLY show the iPhone 5, I'm screwed if I wanted to buy a 4S :D

Still comes back with an error when trying to go any further

Was talking to the O2 Customer Service team about 4G...

Shannon Sloan: Have you any information about LTE or the wideband audio service on o2?
Archie: One moment please.
Archie: Thanks for waiting.
Archie: I've checked , its related to iphone 5, earlier iphone works on 3G while the new iphone has the capability for 4G which is twice faster than the 3g network.
Archie: So once the iphone 5 is launched, it 4G wil also put into service for better customer service.
Shannon Sloan: does o2 have 4G capability?
Archie: Yes, absolutely. it was earlier tried on some part our network however once the iphone 5 is out , it will be put into service for every part.

Interesting news! Also he ordered my new Nano Sim for me! :apple:

'Archie' is who I got who ordered my sim. It obviously does just depend on who you get.

Holy smokes! That U24 is new to me (and everyone I just told about it!!).

Though how did you get the £10.50 a month + U24? It says for contracts above £15pm?

Might switch to Orange because of this though!

yes, sorry for the confusion £15pm contracts, but i got £5 off per month due to a deal they were doing, :D, But give orange a ring 150,

So will the sim-free iPhone 5 from Apple work with any network? I could choose from 3, O2, Orange, T-Mobile, Vodafone?

Lets say I start with 3 on a monthly rolling sim only plan, naturally having no 4G access, but then move to EE, I will gain that access to 4G should I choose a contract which supplies it?

You guys talking about the different models and network compatibility has thrown me off slightly.

Yes all sim-free iPhone 5's support 2G/3G on any network + 4G on EE.

The only difference in models is storage capacity.

I got my sim from Three because they were the only network with a good reception in Moseley... and several other areas that I need a signal.

Still are. O2 was okay. Orange was awful and Vodafone was literally non-existent. Switched to Three and not really had any complaints in the last year with them.

Although their customer service sucks if you do ever need to call them.

Great, sounds like the best option then with so much unknown about upcoming network contracts. I'll get my order in for a sim-free one and then take my time over finding a good contract.

These THREE rates, if true, would be fantastic!

Wonder if it includes 4G service when they go live...

Worst comes to worst, you can always return your unlocked one, and go for an on contract one if something does come out that offers a really good deal in the next couple of weeks.

I'm just up the road from you living in town! I lived in the Radisson building and my phone was constantly dropping calls whenever someone would call me or vice versa. None of my friends would have a problem with their non-Three phone, though. Same for when I'm at work which is just next to Snow Hill. Now I have to travel to and from London every week and so it's terrible trying to get a signal on the train when I see other people chatting away with no problem at all.

There's no one-per customer limit or some such nonsense is there?

Need 2, one for me and one for the wife from the same account..

Moseley is a notorious black hole for a signal. No way I could live with Voda/Orange having no signal. O2 is passable here but only one giving me full signal is Three.

I used to work in Wolves and everyone had issues getting a signal with Orange (who had the work contract) but Three was always strong.

I'm travelling from Snow Hill to London tomorrow so I'll no doubt be eating my words after that! ;)
