T-Mobile were good to their promise. Two 64gb black iPhone 5's ordered on Monday 16th, arrived today. A very stressed UK Mail man said he's been delivering hundreds and nothing else!

Opened one up, perfect condition, the other is for the wife, she will open that later.

Overall very happy with T Mobile UK. :)

For anyone interested about the whole scuffgate thing and returning your iPhone for a replacement/exchange to a white one...

I received my 32gb black iPhone 5 on Friday, and immediately phoned Apple and said i wanted a exchange to white and she put it all through and a courier phoned me yesterday to arrange pickup of the black one, we agreed for it to be picked up today.

I checked my emails this morning and the white iPhone was dispatched yesterday and is due for delivery today via TNT.

So all in all, it's a pretty painless process, apart from restoring and backing up several times!

"Loads of contract phones but no sim free" - situation in most apple stores.

Same situation in my experience of the stores in the north east of England. This makes me wonder what the ratio of locked:unlocked phones Apple produce is, or whether unlocked phones are really just that popular this year.

Made applications to reserve white and black iPhones in two stores near where I live, if one of them is successful I'll just cancelled the others, that's possible right?

White ones from 3 seem to be sent a lot quicker. Colleague in my work ordered the white 16GB on Thursday, got a 2/10 delivery date and actually got it delivered on Saturday there. I've been told my black 64GB that I ordered last Wednesday will still be sent on its original delivery date of 1/10

Can anyone explain the number porting process?

The number I had with the new contract is now unobtainable when i try to call. My number that I am porting rings, but not on my new phone so I assume it is still calling my old iPhone at home. So what number is my new phone using right now?! Do I need to reboot?

EDIT: Disregard, it's gone through.

hmmm, i wish camera photos were in widescreen like recorded videos are. Strange oversight maybe?

Not at all. 16:9 is a video standard, not a photography one. When taking a photo it uses the whole sensor. Videos only use part of the sensor. Nothing has changed, just the screen.

Also, try and buy some 16:9 photo paper or a 16:9 picture frame.

Did anyone pre-order from Apple on the 15th with an estimated delivery of 3rd - 9th October.

If so have you seen any change on your order status?

I ordered a Black 16GB and its still showing 'processing order' :(

Reading that people are walking into apple stores and walking out with phones is making me feel like the pre-order was a waste of time...I've just now made reservations for brent cross and white city hoping to get lucky today.

Having sold my iPhone 4, I'm on day 5 without phone!

I know your problem is solved, but as I tested number portability for Orange way back in 1998, I thought I'd answer anyway.

Porting is a two stage process. Your new network needs to setup their side of things for your ported number, so that when you call somebody, it shows the ported number and not your temporary one.

However, any other network attempting to call your ported number will not know this number has now been ported, and will still route the call to the original network. It is down to the original network to re-route the call to your new network.

In your case, it appeared that the two steps were out of sync and the new network was good to go, but your old network had not done their bit.

looks like there is going to be a delay to EE's roll out of 4G in the UK until next year.

lol at the people who signed up to Orange/T-mobile to get 4G.

Quick question.

Does anyone know if the Regent street or Covent Garden Apple store have any white 32GB in stock? I'm think go over there during lunch time.

Tired waiting for my pre-order Vodafone to show up (still no news), and can not call the store at work.

Many thanks

Nowhere does it say that. It says the other networks are pushing to bring the auction of spectrum forward so that they can begin rolling out their own networks sooner.

Unless you can provide a link to the contrary?

I pre-ordered on the evening of the 14th with estimated delivery of 2-8 Oct.

Black 32GB and it is like you still showing processing items :/

Went to the apple store near me for a genius bar appointment and decided if they had any in stock id buy one there and then and cancel the order, but they didn't have stock.

If the status hasn't changed by Friday I'll be reserving and going to the store to pick up on Saturday (if they have stock!). Toying with the idea of doing that today but the stores about an hour away and I can't be bothered to go after work

Possible legal action brought by O2 and the rest of the slow coach boys could potentially delay the roll out of 4G from EE.

I still read the articles as the legal action being to bring forward the auction of spectrum, not to delay the launch of EE:

"It’s fair to say that we’re in discussions with the wider industry over 4G spectrum, but this is in an attempt to bring 4G to all UK customers, not to delay the launch of 4G," said an O2 Spokesperson.

"As a result, we’re talking as a group about the possibility of bringing the auction forward and asking if the frequencies used in the spectrum can be cleared quickly."

Hello chaps,

My 16GB iPhone 5 was delivered this afternoon and I was rather delighted but unfortunately it is already starting to come apart. I'm going to get in touch with Apple tomorrow and hopefully they'll replace it but I'm obviously a little disappointed. Has anyone else had any problems with the plastic around the screen coming away from the phone? I have never had this kind of problem with any of my previous iPhones (3G, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S). :(

I posted a couple of photos on my blog.

I'll update and let you know what Apple say tomorrow.

Cheers

Mark

I phoned Apple first thing this morning and after initially being cut off after twenty minutes I phoned back and spoke to a different person who was extremely helpful. They apologised for the inconvenience and are going to arrange a replacement as soon as possible. Also agreed to arrange it so that I won't have to be without a phone.

Really wonderful customer service! :)

My replacement handset arrived this morning, much sooner than I was originally anticipating. The handset is perfect this time around. Now I just need to arrange a courier collection for the faulty handset. I really can't fault Apple's customer service at all, they have been very helpful and efficient. Fingers crossed this new phone will be fault free. :)

Yes if the other operators fail to postpone the auction i assume the first thing they will do is lodge a complaint with ofcom against EE and seek an injunction to postpone the earlier launch from EE

I have done the same, I called them on sunday to return and change to white, I was told it would take around 5 working days but maybe longer due to the colour change. I got an email yesterday saying that they plan to ship my replacement within 3-5 working days. Did you get this email too? if so on what date.

Exactly and the thing is when 02 and the rest finally roll out their 4G spectrum it won't be compartable with the iPhone 5. There are around 24 spectrums of 4g and Apple can't make a phone that will cater for all flavours.
