Had a home button issue with my black 32GB, walked into my local store (Leicester Highcross) and walked out with a retail box replacement within 10 minutes! No shortage of iPhones anywhere!

Ive tried to reserve an iphone for the past few days at highcross and have had no luck, do you reckon I would have a decent chance of getting one if I just turn up? Thanks :D

T-Mobile are really starting to do my head in now. When I phone them, they dont have a clue when ill get my phone even though they said it would be here within 30 days but it seems like they are going back on their word now.

Im half tempted to cancel it as soon as it does arrive (whenever that is) and go with someone else. Not good.

I ordered my white 32gb online through Orange as a new customer on the 15th. I received an order confirmation email from them immediately saying my order would be dispatched as soon as a phone was available.
No news from them between the saturday so i called them friday evening and they told me my order was visible on the system but they couldn't tell me when i would be dispatched as my order was in a queue.
Fired off an email this evening asking them for a date as i can't sit around waiting at home all day.
I await their response tomorrow.

Have any UK-ers who reserved online today received an email saying they can pickup tomorrow?

Reserved one for collection at the Glasgow store at around 12.30pm but haven't had anything yet. :( So I'm guessing I'm probably stuck without an iPhone (having sold my 4S) for another day.

I've been reserving at the watford and Milton Keynes store for 2 days no, still no email.

People who want a contract iPhone at a apple store appear to be getting preference.

I have the light leak on my white iPhone near the power button. Will Apple replace the phone, it was bought sim free. I'm also thinking i might try and swap for the black model, I saw someone with one today and it looked beautiful. Will they do this.

Cant see why not. If you're not happy with something, Apple are normally very good when it comes to this sort of thing.

Lots of jealous anaesthetists and surgeons at work today. Only one surgeon has an ip5 so far. And surprisingly, no anaesthetists!
Which is strange as they are well known for their love of all things :apple:

:D

Sorry to say but you'll get the exact same crap from the emails.
"Your order is in the system, we cannot track individual orders, your phone will be delivered within 30 days"
I've spoke to atleast 10 different people from Orange on the phone, 3 different staff on email and 2 on live chat. All either give that crappy answer or an out right lie "it will be delivered tomorrow" etc etc etc.

I'm going to check all the local phone shops tomorrow and hopefully I'll find one so I can cancel my Orange order.

Yep, sent back my 4S that they kindly sent me instead of a 5 then cancelled my whole order (they send you an envelope btw)

That doesn't surprise me one bit with the way they are run.

Not sent anything back, But I cancelled my order 5 hours after ordering, That was 10 days ago and I have yet to get a refund.

Thats what I'm worried about. Their customer service is so bad, I have a feeling that I would never get a refund back from them if I cancelled my order. I would rather go and sort out my contract through an Apple store directly rather than dealing with the imbeciles at customer service as at least if you have a problem with the phone for example, you can go directly to Apple rather than sending it back to them.

Does anyone know if you can just walk into a Regents Street store and buy one without reserving?

Whats the score with the contracts for the iPhone 5 in the Apple stores? normally they mention them on the Apple store online but it doesnt mention prices anywhere that I can see. Are the exactly the same as what you will get directly from Orange/T Mobile/o2 etc?

If they have them in stock you can yeah. Reserved ones are allocated first though. A mate I work with went on launch day and they sold out but went back on the Sat and they had some and he picked one up without a reservation.

Be careful. Policy is now reservations only, unless you want one on contract. If you want one SIM free, don't waste your time going to the store without a night-before reservation.

This is the case in all central London stores currently.

Tried reserving from Eldon Square the past two days, no joy so far. And so the wait goes on…

Its probably changed then due to even more of a demand. I live in Reading and my mate went to the Reading store where they let him have his. He knows a few other people that went in yesterday and picked theirs up without a reservation as well. Maybe its different for the stores outside of London. God knows.

I ordered a few hours after preorders opened and after the initial allocation sold out. I'd been given a preliminary delivery date of 1st of October. I've just had a shipping notification with a delivery date of tomorrow! Presumably Apple are shipping in bulk to the UK and posting from within the UK. Good news!

There were queues outside the Eldon Sq branch both days of the weekend, I was quite surprised at just how long the queue was at 3pm on Saturday afternoon.

Ive decided that I'm going to cancel my order with T Mobile and go straight into an Apple store and get my contract that way. I don't like the way they seem to treat you as a number and fob you off with a ton of crap and don't give you an answer on when you will receive your phone. At least by getting it directly from Apple, I know ill have one in my hands, the day I get the contract up and running.

T Mobile and Orange should be ashamed of how they have approached this launch for the iPhone 5. Fair enough stocks are low etc but be honest with your customers rather than treating them like rubbish.
