Maybe I got lucky on my second try, I just think its incredibly stupid that people who pre-ordered on the 14th STILL don't have theirs, and on top of that, aren't even sure they will get it in their estimated delivery window, yet here I am away to pick mine up tomorrow after reserving today. Just a real shame. :(

Don't use different names, the staff ask for photo-ID and won't sell it to you unless your photo-ID matches the name you gave on the reservation form.

Yup, i'm aware, i'll just order one in my name, and one in my mum's name. Either way it's being bought on my mum's card and i'm transferring the money into her account afterwards, so she'll be at the store with me. Some people who have reserved sim-free have said they've not been asked for I.D too.

Thanks for the heads up anyway!

I had a white 64gb iPhone 5 delivered from CPW today, as I sent my launch day black back to Apple as I was worried about the durability of the black.

At first I thought it was flawless and really happy, but as the evening as gone on I have noticed 3 fairly prominent scratches on the shiny bezel. They are only tiny, but now they are all I look at when I look at my £700 iPhone. I have the words of Jony Ive ringing in my ears about "finely crafted swiss watches."

I'm really not sure what to do. Do I keep it and live with it knowing its going to get worse, or should I contact Apple and ask for a replacement?

Do Apple UK even have a policy on the scratches?

I think you must expect scratches on the bezel. When I looked at the metal band on my iPhone 4 after a year it had loads of marks, mostly caused by the case or bumper. I'm expecting that with the 5 too. I have bought a cheap eBay bumper while waiting for leather slip cases to appear on the market - but actually a black bumper on the white iPhone looks rather nice!

Ah ok, as long as you know what you're doing :)

Good luck!

EDIT: And it looks like I was unlucky today :-(

My iPhone has only been out of the box for 3 hours tho! Its only either been sat on the desk syncing/charging or in my hands as I've set it up and it hasn't been anywhere near a case or anything sharp that could damage it.

I preordered a 32GB black at the Meadowhall store and have had no email. Looks like ill have to try again tomorrow.

It appears the whites are in stock and many have been able to reserve them but black is the most popular so Apple is struggling to meet demand.

I ordered a black one from CPW and had it delivered by Yodel next day can't fault them, but I realised that they lock to the first sim you insert so returned it unopened.

*sigh* Another day gone and still processing with no shipment email or anything. Seriously ticked off now!!!

Have any Apple orders ever arrived late? I wonder if it doesn't come when it says if you have the right to cancel?

----------

I think it's safe to say it won't be here by the weekend. So everybody will be looking at 8th to 9th maybe?

We have the right to cancel now but why would you. You can't get it anywhere else any sooner so we have no choice but to stick it out. Just annoyed that I ordered on the 14th and was told '2-3 weeks'. 14th - 21st, 1 week. 22nd - 28th, 2 weeks. 29th - 5th, 3 weeks. That means if I don't have my iPhone in my hands within 2 days they have fallen flat on their 2-3 week delivery date which is unacceptable for a big company like Apple.

If it hasn't come by the latest date on your order estimate, feel free to have a rant at Apple. Until then, try and be patient.

I don't think Foxconn will stop their factories....after all, Foxconn employees were the ones complaining when Apple/Foxconn decided to limit the number of working hours, as they couldnt get more money for the extra hours....pretty certain there will be a few thousand employees looking to be working on holidays to make some cash

While the Foxconn factories might be working rest of China is closed and the phones must be piling up in stock. I bet the deliveries to London will only begin coming Monday.

Have any of you tried getting one from an O2 shop? I wandered into the one in Colliers Wood yesterday and walked straight out with a new 16gb White Iphone 5....

They didnt seem like they were in short supply?

We're after Unlocked sim free phones. It's easy enough to get contract locked devices
