I will try to reserve tomorrow from Apple. If it nothing happens by Thursday will order sim free for £700 from CPW for the next day delivery since im leaving on Saturday.

I'm sure couple of months afterwards I should be able to unlock it if thats possible.

Apple reservation page has been halted for 2 days straight now. I'm not holding my breath that reservations will resume 9am tomorrow, but I'll still check all the same.

Cool

Otherwise will just buy it from CPW, not sure if they do unlocking there but will be willing to pay up to £50 if they could

VF unlocked my CPW 4S more or less immediately.

So i just have to walk in with my new Iphone 5 and they will unlock it right?

Has anyone in the UK had their Lightening/30-pin adaptor ship from Apple yet?

I read a report that some people were starting to get shipping notices yesterday and wondered if that applied to the UK yet?

I understand its a high demand product but 4 weeks reserving a phone with no luck? I've even physically gone to Whitecity, Stratford, lakeside, Brent cross and regent street to try my luck but you guessed it, nothing.

I can understand waiting for 3 or 5 days but I've been reserving for 4 weeks with no luck. In my opinion I think this is unfair to customers considering a Apple UK by now should have in place for its market demand.

The problem is my time is running out and I'm travelling next week that's why I just wanna buy the phone and leave.

----------

Will pass on that.

brand new 64 GB is £700 from apple and CPW so why buy a second hand from CEX?

Because you can't buy it for £700 as you know. You asked for ideas.

CPW no longer sell sim free.

No reservations today.

After posting went and had another look and it seems that although it hasn't shipped mine should be here in the next couple of days;

"Preparing for Shipment: Delivers 09 Oct, 2012 - 10 Oct, 2012"

No you submit an unlock request online and Vodafone then send the request to Apple to update their database. As Apple do the actual unlock they can't do it in a Vodafone store

Just realised that from their website. Damn! I wonder what options do I have left now. CPW was my last resort to be honest as I'm no longer confident Apple Store will have anything.

Thanks for the info. Now any ideas where else I would get sim free apart from CPW?

I'm in the same position just without the overseas trip planned. I have no options left for a quick resolution. I have an online order in, and I await the reservation process opening again - which won't be today :(

Apple sure know how to torture its customers. How could they underestimate their projections like this?

Anyway, do you think the situation is the same in say Scotland and Ireland?

I can speak for Northern Ireland. No sim free iPhones anywhere and reservation system hasn't worked for me for 2 weeks.

My order from CPW should arrive today. Got it in just before they stopped offering sim free thankfully.

No idea on Ireland.

In this thread I remember someone managed to get a reservation in Braehead Glasgow but I think thats the only apple store north of the border anyway?

Reservation info from this thread is only a tiny snapshot anyway.

As the Meadowhall (Sheffield) rep told me (take it or leave it), they're getting 200+ reservations a day for stocks of 10 phones. It's not good odds.

Interesting point natalia has reminded me of johny...

When I phoned the Scunthorpe branch of CPW, they were at first willing to sell me a 64gb black iphone. I wanted white, so they even checked stock elsewhere.

I then asked why the website had stopped selling it, and she had no idea - then checked her system and noted that there was no price listed, and therefore it was unsellable.

HOWEVER, if you found a CPW still not sure on the current status, and laid it on thick (im going away, woe is me, etc etc), AND then turned up claiming you'd driving miles to pick it up.... MAYBE you'd get a store manager to feel sorry for you and sell it? Lets face it, everyone knows the price, so maybe something could be done?

I think you're right.

CPW don't seem to know what's going on to be honest. I've phoned them twice about my phone being delivered and the customer service people are really clueless.

So I imagine if someone finds a store with stock available they could possibly get it sim free.

My phone was ordered on 18th September along with adapter. Yesterday the phone status changed to "shipped" with UPS and an 822...... tracking number but adapter status not changed from dispatch - October. Can't track the phone via UPS as doesn't seem to recognise the number. Just have to be patient I suppose.

Technically yeah. However, if bought from the CPW they have a disclaimer saying that the handset will lock to the first network SIM card inserted. Expensive risk to take.

In this case, CPW are selling you a phone that is intended to be sold locked, with a carrier contract. They should not be selling you such phones "sim free"!

What London Underground staff have been upto of late...

Well, first impressions..

No obvious scartches or blemishes, but i do feel overly cautious with it...which in turn is making me feel a little more nervous, incase i drop or knock it on something:eek: still waiting for my ebay case from china so carrying phone in sock:)

Strangely, doesn't feel as paper light as the display models I handled some weeks back. Actually feels as sturdy as my iPhone 4 with good weight.

Had a bit of issue of getting my new nano sim activated with Three, so haven't had a proper chance to test signal quality.

I'm probably going to need that the 30pin to lightning, as i'm too used to sharing the one power cable with my iPad....but at an eye watering £25! sheesh:eek:

Yup and I guess that's why they've stopped selling them.

Anyone wanting to walk out of an Apple store with one in hand, may as well forget about it for the time being. I spoke to Milton Keynes and Leicester Apple store reps today and the only way you can get one is via:

https://reserve.apple.com/GB/en_GB/reserve/iPhone

When I mentioned that it was down for last two days they said that's because there is no stock anywhere in the country.

Companies like CeX are not helping either. You can sell an unlocked iPhone 5 16GB version to CeX for £607. That's an £80 profit for anybody that bought several on release day just to flog on.

Earpods are absolutely awful :L they may be even worse than the old headphones! Sound quality is similar while any tiny amount of comfort the old ones had is now gone, and they don't stay in my ears! Looks like apple failed a bit there :p

I looking to get a Black 32GB on a new O2 contract. I've been trying to go the Apple reservation route (got a 4S successfully this way last year) with no luck, so far.

Whats my best option here? I've placed an online order this morning with CPW who are claiming next-day delivery on this model for new contracts - but have yet to hear back from them with a confirmation. Do they really have it available?

I could also try O2 stores (I'm in London). But it sounds like some stores are out of stock even if they have availability listed on the online stock checker?

Just checked now for you mate

They had 32 yesterday but people were fast! Lol

I'm tempted just to buy one from CEX !

In my local cex shop they have both colours and all gb capacities.

Ok they are classed as 2nd hand but in essence it's people who have upgraded and then sold them straight away !

Have there been any hints as to how much ee 4g will cost? I know its released at the end of the month.

I asked them on twitter, and their standard response is to wait until 30th when they launch for tariff details. I hope they do some good sim only deals, if so I will definitely be moving to them.
