Has anyone with scuffs on the phone been able to exchange your phone for the other colour (black or white) in store with a genius appointment? I have the black and would like to change it for the white. I know they usually do a like for like exchange, but it there leniency because of the issues with scratches?

nipped out to the shops for 15 minutes because I wasn't expecting delivery till 6pm as estimated in the tracking....
looks like they've attempted delivery at 2pm when I was briefly out((
waited 3 weeks for this damn phone!
when we they re-deliver, presumably not at midnight like suggested in the tracking info??

I'm at work today but my sister came home to go to the dentist. She left at 11.05 and got back just before 12, they attempted to deliver at 11.10!!! Bit the bullet and am "working" from home tomorrow... manager didn't seem too impressed but oh well

OK, thanks for the info. Strange that CPW don't make this link more prominent. Unfortunately, my order still says:
"Your order has been received, we will be processing your transaction as soon as possible. Please note: due to the current high volumes of orders that are being placed, unfortunately we cannot guarantee next day delivery."
I'll give them until tomorrow I guess. They're still claiming "next working day" delivery on the iPhone 5 orders page, so this is a bit disappointing!

Believe it or not I've been reserving unlocked white 64 GB Iphone 5 for the last 4 weeks but no luck. I've Used my names and under friends names but all in vain.
I've gone as far as reserving in Milton Keynes, Brighton and Leicester not nothing (I'm based in London)
I'm about to travel outside UK next week and I will be using a different sim card. I've thought of everything, getting it from France, Holland or Ireland where I have friends then they can easily send it by DHL to UAE where someone will just sign the delivery for me.
Another option was buying it on Amazon, which I also failed since the 64BG I found were above £1,000 so that's out of the question
Last option was to but from CPW but that also failed since they claimed they can only sell me SIM FREE which will not work with any network outside UK. However, I'm willing to pay them extra so they can unlock it for me and from my understanding, SIMFREE will only work with the 1st sim card you put in the phone...and some say its just same as UNLOCKED but the shops are discouraged to sell the unlocked.
I'm frustrated and desperate and dont know what to do since my options with Apple are quite limited considering with this is my first Iphone. Is this form of torture normal when buying Iphone? I'm just shocked in this day and age and in a developed country like UK we have to suffer like this just to buy a phone.
Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

Ok they have been sold by the original owner so are technically 2nd hand but they also come with cex's 12 month guarantee.
If the whole thing is that much of a 'torture' for you, then you could just...wait for stock to get better or just place an Order with Apple....
Its a high demand item and no matter how many Apple make, financially they will always be out stripped by demand.
I understand its a high demand product but 4 weeks reserving a phone with no luck? I've even physically gone to Whitecity, Stratford, lakeside, Brent cross and regent street to try my luck but you guessed it, nothing.
I can understand waiting for 3 or 5 days but I've been reserving for 4 weeks with no luck. In my opinion I think this is unfair to customers considering a Apple UK by now should have in place for its market demand.
The problem is my time is running out and I'm travelling next week that's why I just wanna buy the phone and leave.

Huh? Surely "SIM FREE" means the same as "Unlocked". If you're paying full price for the phone then you should be getting a factory unlocked phone. You certainly will if you buy from Apple.

For starters, 4 weeks ago would make the date about 10th September. The iPhone 5 came out on the 21st of September.
Secondly, the online reservation system didn't go live till about the 25th September.
So realistically, at MOST you've been trying to reserve for a fortnight.
Technically yeah. However, if bought from the CPW they have a disclaimer saying that the handset will lock to the first network SIM card inserted. Expensive risk to take.
Direct from Apple, no issues. I had a 4 and a 4S direct from Apple and they've had no issues working abroad with various SIM cards.
I will try to reserve tomorrow from Apple. If it nothing happens by Thursday will order sim free for £700 from CPW for the next day delivery since im leaving on Saturday.
I'm sure couple of months afterwards I should be able to unlock it if thats possible.
