Bored now

I'm starting to get seriously hacked off with this non-reservation process. I've been doing it for over 2 weeks now to get an unlocked 32GB in black at minimum of 2 stores a day. Past few days I've even requested a 64GB version (increasing my chances) but still no luck.

Apple are definitely prioritising contract customers over unlocked. Regent St wouldn't say how many unlocked phones they get in a day but tonight they had ones available for contract customers, I'm assuming they make more money on those sales with a cut from the networks?

Everytime you ask someone in an Apple store how the reservation process works, you get a different answer. The latest one I got was that multiple reservations in the same store won't make a difference. Reserving across multiple stores will increase chances.

Another day, another no show...
I'm going for 64gb ones, which by this thread is slightly less popular, but yes i could walk into probably any of the major mobile shops in MK tomorrow and walk out with a contract phone, but i don't want one!

One more week of trying then its online for me to get the timing right for the delivery...

Keep your chin up guys.

It took me 14 attempts at reserving a sim free 16gb Black/Slate iphone 5 from the Meadowhall Apple Store and i was using just my primary e mail address.

I know the feeling your getting when 9pm comes and goes !

When i was collecting my phone a young couple were trying their best to badger the apple specialist into selling them a sim free one to the point of waving their plastic in her face !

My local 02 shop had them in stock but were for contract/upgrade customers only !
At least they let me buy a lightning to USB cord !

Your time will come ;)

Was gonna order mine tonight but lost my credit card and forgot the security code on the back so had to report it lost.

If I use a credit card do we know if apple take payment straight away or until its back in stock? I have another credit card that has 60 days to transfer a balance from one card to another however if they dont take immediate payment then 3/4 weeks wait the 60days will have passed lol.

The apple reservation system is a joke, tried to reserve the 32gb and a 64gb in black at three different stores, Trafford center, Arndale and at Sheffield, for 2weeks, with different email addresses, finally got fed up, put an ad on gumtree, got a call, bought a 64gb black one for £600! On O2, Earphones and USB not even used! Phone used for a week! Can't complain!! Apple just takin the piss, losing a lot of customers!!!

If any of you have a business or have access to purchase under a company name you can just ring up the store and they will allocate you one.

I've done it and picked 2 up a few hours later. Walked in O2 over the road and got new sims

They keep back units for businesses, you don't even need an account, just give the company name and address and you pay the full amount.

Initially shows as pending on your credit card but will then disappear and once phone been dispatched i believe Apple then takes payment from your ccard.

Tried four times yesterday and got nothing. Was after a sim free 64Gb.
Been using the reservation system off and on for a couple of week without success.
I have got one on order that'll turn up before the end of October, but you know what it's like, once you've committed to buying one you want it then and there and not four or so weeks away.

This intrigues me, by business do you mean VAT registered? I do some paid photography part time but it's such a small turnover I'm registered with the taxman but no need for VAT registration!

Not sure I believe this tbh... Mine were bought as a business purchase online and there is no such system.

Which store was this? I'm buying on a business account. Just rang up business dept of 4 stores in London, 3 of them said that reserving online was the only way to do it. 1 of them went and checked stock and said they had none.

Blaaaa, mines still stating: Processing Items

Got a delivery window of 18th - 24th, ordered 22nd Sept..... Was hoping it would ship today so it would be here this week ://

My delivery window ends this week (19th!) and it went into Preparing around 11am today.

Still showing as preparing at the moment!

Not confident I'll get them on or before Friday tbh.

It does feel that for both online and instore orders, this apparent QC tightning/foxconn strikes or whatever it is really happening over there is taking effect.
Online orders look like they might miss their original window and it appears at least no one on this thread got a sim-free reservation through last night.

That said though, there's piles of contract phones out there. As someone else said, frustrating!

I'm off to research android alternatives to the shared photostream for the weekend. Was hoping to set one up for my son's birthday party so the other mums could see what the boys were up to whilst we were out with them bowling. It's not exactly a life or death situation, just would have been quite fun :)

To add: "practise makes perfect" says someone from foxconn:
