I ordered my white 32GB iPhone 5 on Oct. 15th via the website.

Currently in ' Processing ' phase.

It has always said 3 - 4 weeks delivery Nov 7 to Nov 13 Delivery

So my question is:

What are the chances of it being early?

or

What are the chances of it being late? ( This is important as I may well be working abroad soon )

cheers

That's a good question. I ordered mine on 1st October and it arrived today, right in the middle of their guesstimate.

They are different stock. The contract ones are sim locked. They have them because no one is buying them. It's not like they have a pile of phones and choose to only sell them on contract.

Everyone seems to have already told you, but they are all the same hardware as I said. They get locked to the first SIM inserted if Apple tells them to when it gets activated. I imagine it's all IMEI numbers and black magic.

Three have a strong signal in many places but I found that throughput drops considerably in many built-up areas and during peak time (early evening for instance) incoming calls would frequently go straight to voice mail due to lack of capacity in the network.

Matt

Wondered why some calls would just seemingly go straight to voicemail, despite having signal.

Three are not without small irritants however I have never looked back since leaving O2. 3G speeds on the whole are so much better then O2.

I haven't noticed calls going straight to voicemail but I have noticed that on occasions when you dial out the call can sometimes fail! I still find 3 to be a better network than Vodafone though. Call drops and dismal 3G speeds were a daily issue with Vodafone for me!

Just to share my experience, i have been trying to reserve on the Apple site everyday for 3 weeks. Finally, i got THE email on Thursday night - so off i went yesterday to pickup my IP5..... i came home with a 4S!!! What went wrong? I love Apple kit, my home is kitted out with iMac, Macbook Pro, iPad etc.... however, I have played with the IP5 a few times and it just doesn't do it for me. Love the screen size and clarity, but i just don't want a phone that big and it feels too light and flimsy to me. If i want a bigger screen i will use my iPad (which i take take with me on my commute to work etc) the whole point of the iPhone to me was to have a small device that i could get all my email/iCloud stuff on - and i think the 4S is perfect for that.....

No words of wisdom here, just funny how i came home with a 4S and not a 5.
I'm a little disappointed that for the first time i was not totally blown away by a new Apple product and went for the last generation variant. I actually hope that in the future they make a smaller 3.5" variant of the 5, 5S or 6 - so we can have the nicer screen and more powerful unit but the compact size.

I very much doubt Apple will bring out a smaller iPhone in the future. Across the board screens are getting bigger rather then smaller and Apple will need to compete with that.

Mine arrived yesterday, flawless
Black/slate week 41
ordered Oct 1st
Nano sim not here though :(

Funny how you screwed up someone's reservation. Anyway, I would agree with for the fact that iPhone 5 didn't get me excited. Maybe I am getting too old, but still trying to reserve

Was due an upgrade on Thursday this week with O2. Checked online and the info given was a 3-4 week wait for a handset. Religiously checked the stores for stock. All 16s and 32s out of stock too.

Low and behold the next day i checked and some stores had stock on friday morning and afternoon! Got my handset on the afternoon.

Very happy so far. Beautiful phone!

Picked up my IP5 32gb yesterday from Apple CG. But I don't have an Orange nano sim for it - apparantly they sent it when I ordered it around 15 days ago but I simply didn't receive it so got them to ship another. Orange store @ Canary Wharf wouldn't give me any since obviously existing customers are not that important.

Anyone successful in getting a nano sim from Orange through their stores? Annoyed that I managed to get IP5 before the sim.

I ordered from the Apple store on Oct 1st, still stuck on "Processing Items"

The guesstimate for delivery was Oct 26th - Nov 2nd. Have any of you received the order later than the estimate?

I am using Apple products since 2002
iPad, iMac, MacBook Pro, Macbook Air at home and only Apple hardware in the office too, but I never had iPhone as I did not like the form.
iPhone 5 is my first iPhone and I was quite happy to move from Google Nexus S :)

Update - I called Apple and ended up talking to an American guy named Adrian - he was more than helpful, told me that I should have my iPhone on Monday.

After the call I refreshed my order status and it was on "preparing for shipping"

Finally

Ordered online today after a couple of weeks of trying to reserve on. That's clearly not working and I'm not convinced all stores are actually selling any sim-free.

Still trying to reserve online though.

Wow just picked up iPhone 5 64gb on three network, did a speedtest got over 19 mg download speed. EE can shove their 4G network and capped data

finally got a 32G white iphone 5 at Apple store of Brent Cross. I have tried to reserve one for a month. so very excited. today is my lucky day!

Just to prove I know absolutely nothing - just got an email from Apple. My 16gb Black handset is available for collection tomorrow.

Best cancel that online orde then. It only lasted a few hours!

Got a confirmation that my (sim-free) iPhone 5 16 GB in black has been reserved for me in London tomorrow :D First time I tried reserving it! Hope my train gets in on time.

Does anyone know if I have to pass some kind of security check before I can purchase it? I remember Carphone Warehouse performed one with my debit card 3 years ago and I failed it for no apparent reason. Also, do I need to bring anything else apart from a valid photo ID?

besides passport, is there anything else i need to bring when i collect the iphone 5?

Looks like everyone was lucky yesterday apart from me. I should have tried reserving in London probably, it looks like Brighton has no sim frees whatsoever
