Ask who they ship with. I know some of the delivery companies near me will let you pick up at their warehouse between 5 and 8pm on the same day as a failed delivery, so if it isn't royal mail you can ring up your depot and ask if they can help you in any way. If they use parcelforce they drop it at your local post office, so you could check when they are open to and try to arrive there to pick it up before they close (though, my local one is 5pm, which is useless).
 
I was pretty worried about ordering, because I'm out the house so had to order it on my phone. App store app didn't work for me, but managed to get my order through on apple website with a few attempts.

Order went through at 8:10am, confirmation email came through :)
 
Oh wow i didnt notice it does say We've received your order but to the right of that dispatched.
 
did anyone order any accessories with their phone? notables the lightening to 30 pin adapter...

i did.. and my order said ships in october!!! i think due to the adapter being out of stock currently...

i placed a fresh order with just the iphone and have now cancelled the previous order..

my new order now says delivers 21/9 :), this was about half an hour ago anyway

In physical store yes, online store no. I think it is the credit check stuff they have to do for contracts or something like that.

i gave up with orange swapped to T-Mobile as im going to move to EE anyway!

i just spoke with another dept at orange and they say the wait is over an hr on the phone atm

Mine says dispatched too. But if you hover over the little blue play icon next to the dispatched text it tells you what stage your order is at.
 
Got them...

Just off the phone to Vodafone Business. 2 new contracts, 2gb data and unlimited everything else. With free 16gb phones!

They must be feeling the competition this year, giving the phones away...

Only drawback is delivery is up to 14 days... But with the 7 day cooling off, I'm still able to decide to go into the store next Friday and see if I can get them then, and return the Vodafone phones when they arrive.

Apple Website or Bank? Sometimes the money is only reserved temporarily at you bank at this point to make sure you have it, then the reserve is removed till they actually ship it. Guess it helps them keep the supply for people who have the money by reducing the number that fail next week. I'd ring the bank to check anyway.

Yeah that'll be it, because it says it'll ship when all items are ready...
Plus it says that's an "additional" adapter, as you already have one included... so you don't need another straight away :)
 
I was expecting it to be a nightmare to order, managed to get on and ordered in less than 20 seconds. Well done Apple.
 
Im a recent graduate and live around 3 hours from my parents.

Im trying to pre order iphone 5 on orange, im a new customer to them, but they wont deliver the phone to my living address only my billing address :S.

Im not driving that far to get my phone! im not sure what else to do? Can orange deliver to a local store?

I've recently changed banks and ordered from my new barclays account and i just phoned them and made sure there was no block on the account or any transactions and the woman said their wasn't yet Apple still havent taken my money as it's still showing in Pingit balance. Hmmm. Barclays are always blocking transactions because of fraud protection i'm told.

Thanks for clearing up the confirmation email thing people. How long does it usually take for them To take the money?
 
Well, finally got two iPhones ordered up (black, 16 & 32) but had to endure half an hour of trying to authorise the payment with fraud team at Natwest!!!!
Stressfull but got there in the end, store was quite quick actually
 
FYI - Dispatched

We go through this every year. Your order is not 'Dispatched' That is standard text on the website.... the variable is the next text... so

Mine currently says:
Dispatched: Delivers on 21/9 in most areas

...and it could change to

Dispatched: 20/09

or

Dispatched: 19/09

Your order has not Dispatched
 
I rang Orange yesterday with a problem with my contract and asked about the iPhone 5 at the same time, and he said would phone me back with details when he found out. Got a call from him about 15 mins ago saying my details have been put through and I will get a call from the upgrade team at some point today. I've been nursing off a hangover this morning so I haven't had to lift a finger to get the new iPhone haha :p
