Three Twitter - 'Stores have them and customer services are also sending them out'
Go into Three: 'We'll have them Tuesday'
Call Three: 'it's on a pre-order basis only, we'll send it on the 21st'.

O2 were even worse (went into the shops to ask for one for my dad).
First guy didn't have a clue what I was talking about, and then when I poked a bit more, 'you know, iPhone 5?' he said.. come back Thursday.
Next shop 'We get deliveries every day but they're not going to come in at the weekend' (talking to me as if im some kind of idiot).

Ah nice, how much is that per month?

Since I'm a new customer I'd be looking at anything up to the £12.90 ones, probably 1GB Data 250 Mins 5000 texts. Do you know if they start billing new customers from the day they get the SIM contract or from the moment they activate the iPhone?

It's £11.50 a month. I'm pretty sure they activate the SIM straight away (it's an automatic process when they link the physical SIM with your account). Therefore you should be billed from the day you sign the contract.

Yep if I was a new customer I'd go for one of the £12.90 plans. Check those details though, as they don't sound quite right... the two I can see on the website are:

Ultimate internet SIM 200 1 month: 200 mins, 5000 texts, AYCE data
Essential internet SIM 600 1 month: 600 mins, 5000 texts, 1GB data.

If you can get by with 200 mins, I'd definitely take the AYCE data package. Especially with HSDPA+ active straight off and LTE within a year.

im booking the friday as holiday so i will hopefully get chance to go just after the delivery :)

thanks for letting us know

yeh im going to have to go saturday or try an finish early friday to go get a nano sim.

i heard o2 wont have 4g till late 2013...:( but im not too bothered as i dont think 4g will come cheap on pay as you go.. happy with o2

I ordered 2 of the 3 nano sims (1 month rolling deals) yesterday. I went with the £12.90 per month one for both but will be adding tethering to one of them (Thats £5 per month on top of the £12.90) for our iPad.

The biggest draw for us to this specific deal was the "All you can eat data". 200 mins and 5000 texts i way more than we'll use each month.

They start billing you the day you get the sim card (Ordering yesterday means ours will be hear on Tuesday). Though I have bought some nano-micro sim adapters off the web (Couple of quid each) so that I can activate them when they arrive on Tuesday (Need to get my PAC codes from O2 first) and use them in our iPhone 4's until Friday. Which should mean that it should just be a case of sticking the nano sim (Which'll already have been activated) in the iPhones 5's when they arrive on Friday (Touch wood).

O2's 4G network wont work with the iPhone 5 as the iPhone 5 doesnt work on their frequency/band.

The only 4G network that will work with the iPhone 5 is EE. Its also said that 3 have "Offered to share" (At their cost) some of EE's 4G coverage but that wont be until next year AFAIK.

3 have not offered to share spectrum, EE had to sell some of their 1800MHz spectrum after Orange and T-Mobile merged. 3 bought it, making them the only other network with spectrum in a range that could offer compatible LTE services with the iPhone 5. However, EE do not want to release this spectrum until September 2013. It will also take 3 some time to upgrade the infrastructure in their network support it, as they only very recently signed a deal with Samsung to be the supplier.

Almost.

As part of the merger of Orange and T-Mobile, EE was obliged by Ofcom to sell off 2x15MHz chunks of its 1800MHz spectrum. Each of them brought 2x30MHz to the table, so even with that sale they still have plenty left. 3 have made a deal to buy that spectrum from EE and will be setting up their own 4G network with the assistance of Samsung. But, the deadline given to EE for selling the spectrum is not until September 2013, so of course they won't complete the deal until then.

I understand that they plan to have it running in early 2013, well that's what their CEO said.

“3’s customers will start benefitting from this investment in our core network early next year and those benefits will grow further as we deploy new spectrum,”.

Read between the lines in that statement. 3's customers will start benefiting early next year. Then, those benefits will grow further as they deploy new spectrum (this will happen after the initial benefits early next year, no timescale is given).

Finally my pre order confirmed at 8:00am on the dot has moved to 'preparing for shipment'.

Anyone know how long it takes to move numbers to a new sim with a PAC code? I got my new nano sim from 3 on the 30 day rolling contract and want to move my number from Vodafone. Would like that all done by friday.

Got my 4 on eBay hoping it will be sold by then

It also took me 24 hours to port from Vodafone to Three once I gave them all the information.

I picked up my Nano SIM and adapter kit yesterday from a Three shop. Got charged £5.11 for the privilege so am going to try and get my money back as it should be free

Didn't get an adapter kit with my nano sim online otherwise I' give my PAC over now.

Would three give out just the adapter?

From your experiences in other launch days how long did it generally take for Vodafone to run out of stock at their branches?

I just spoke to Vodafone and they told me that they will have PAYG phones available to buy in branch on the 21st or if pre-ordered online it would be 2-3 working days to be delivered to the branch.

I didn't pre-order and tempted to get one, or I wouldn't mind waiting if it'll end up crowd surfing to get into the store.

Just went into a Three store in London and managed to pick up the nano sim adapter that converts it into a Micro Sim or normal sim. Nano sim is arriving on Tuesday. Already got my PAC code from O2. Tuesday, will do the migration and then shove the nano sim into the micro sim adapter and just use the iPhone 4 until my iP5 arrives on Friday.

Is that a contract sim or PAYG?
I don't mind paying for one, I just don't want to commit to a contract until I've tested the network. My dads with three and he gets awful coverage in Essex.
Why have all the networks been caught unawares by the Nano Sim. We all knew about it months ago.

Yes, I am aware of that, however, other media outlets are reporting early 2012 as well, the spectrum usage itself will grow.

ok guys i went into carphone warehouse and TWO o2 stores.

the 1st o2 store i asked for a nano sim, he said they dont have any and was blatently lying.. he started scatching at his face and smiling while he was saying it so i guess they are starting to find it amusing !

i told him how i live so far away and its a pain blah blah and he went and asked his superviser and was told 'no the only ones we have are for demo units for the openeing'

so i went to the 2nd store, same storey yet i was told they will have them for thursday and i could ring back..

carphone warehouse said they dont have any and the ones they do get are for the new customers and their pre orders are for the friday after next on waiting times lol.

oh well! i tried and i pushed em for info and thats all i got! i know they are sitting on a pile but probably not enough.

i was told the que for phones would be seperate so i could walk strait in. thats a kind of relief lol!

Daft question but, what is Three's operator name? I.e the name in the top left corner of the iPhone screen, is it '3' or 'Three'?

I know its pathetic but 'O2-UK' looks nicer than 'Three' but I could probably make do with '3'.

I can't help but keep checking my orange account online..I'm not sure what I'm checking for but I feel like I need to do something :D

I preordered this time but queued up for the 4 and 4s so thought I'd add my 2p worth,

The iPhone 4 I was desperate for and had convinced myself that I wasn't going to get one so I made sure I was there in plenty of time, I got outside the store (big city centre O2 store) at about 5am, took a camping chair and a book, as I arrived I was the first one there, felt a bit daft and thought I'd over reacted, about 10 minutes later another fella turned up, then another 3, by 6 am there was about 50 people there, by 7 about 100. At about 7:30 the store staff came out with cards to hand out to reserve your handset, as I was at the front I knew I was safe, I asked out of interest how many handsets they had, she said 250, she went down the line handing them out, about 50 missed out (although I did hear another branch in the same city had enough stock for them)

As for the 4s launch, this was for the wife, went to a smaller town branch, got there about 6:30 ish and was about 10th in the queue,

I guess it's all down to the size of the branch and the popularity of the device.... Good Luck though bud

Cheers mate i have been to all of them aswell but 4 and 4S were both reserved to me this is the only time im without reservation in a few years :p gunna head up about 6AM i think i can queue for 2hours easily enough and dont wanna miss out! they always sell out of 32's aswell if i can remember :p
