So I bought a 16GB Black, due 1st of October (2nd wave of shipments).

It looks like I'll be getting a Three SIM-Only contract. Why?

- Only network to get their crap together with the Nano-SIM
- Simply the best deals for SIM-Only contracts
- Supposedly going to buy some of EE's 4G spectrum, hence 4G usable

I am with O2 Pay & Go Text and Web at the moment but it looks like they're scrapping that in favour of "Pay & Go Go Go" which, make no mistake, is a much worse deal. Reduced data allowance from 500MB per £10 monthly top-up to just 100MB. You have to wait 6 or 9 months for that to double to 200MB.. what a joke.

Giff-Gaff are tripping over themselves too so whilst they probably offer the single best deal for £10 a month, they won't be at all ready in time.

No idea about Tesco Mobile, does anyone know any details there? I'm looking at PAYG or SIM-Only deals.

Thanks!

3 won't be able to offer 4G until September 2013 as the sale of the spectrum doesn't complete until then.

This thread concerns me greatly... I couldn't order mine until about 3:20pm, so you can imagine my surprise when I received a text saying I woul have it on Wednesday.
Having my wife book the day off work Wednesday so be annoying if it doesn't come!

My concern is I haven't received ANY email. Not that I don't have a second, I don't have a first!
Got a text as soon as I ordered then another today saying I'd be told when it was on its way.

The email I got was just the same as the text saying that it'd be delivered on monday, which were both sent out by mistake. It didnt even mention the iPhone in it. I haven't had any details about anything through. Its slightly worrying.

It's highly unlikely that any phones will be delivered before Friday - there are the occasional slip ups but I wouldn't bank on it.

Right. Rang Orange as i was beginning to panic. And hey - they've messed up!
Whoever took my order entered iPhone 4 :eek::eek::eek:
which has despatched, so they have to recall from courier, and the sort out new order. Friday is looking unlikely now. They are ringing me back on Monday morning. What idiots!
They have credited my account with £30 as a gesture.

Three at Victoria Square, Belfast are giving away the nano sims for free. Just ask for replacement nano sim for iPhone 5.

I would imagine the factories and warehouses in china shipping the iPhone 5 will be working 24/7 for the next few weeks. Not really a time to slack off and close at weekends when you've got millions of iPhones to ship.

I seem to remember activity on saturday and sunday on one or two of my previous ipad/iphone orders, but I may be wrong I guess.

Still... i'd be very surprise if there was no activity at the warehouse on Saturday and Sunday. There are couriers that work weekends too, but yes I guess it's possible that they will be sent monday. But i'm hoping for later today or sunday.

I would imagine that so, but, last year, preorders began on the 7th Oct with shipping on the 10th.

three cs are now ordering sims for people on current contracts that need one, just ordered one so give them a ring if u cant get to a store :)

But at least it will work with the iPhone 5, since Three would use EE's spectrum?

Anyway I have looked at Tesco Mobile and they will be offering Nano-SIMs and their respective tariffs (PAYG and SIM-Only, I expect) from September 21st. The current iPhone SIM-Only deals on Tesco Mobiles are every so slightly better for data than Three.

But if people are recommending Three, I could try them first. I won't get locked into a 12 month SIM-Only deal just yet anyway. O2's coverage is good, at least.

Three have purchased 2 blocks of the 1800Mhz spectrum that has been allocated to EE.

The purchasement was a regulatory requirement.

Where I am, 3's coverage is better than O2's.

So I'm right, yeah? 4G on the iPhone 5 in the UK on Three?

O2 coverage is a tad better than Three in my specific area, I find. I also think that coverage has been boosted a bit, I'm able to get more bars inside the house on 3G than before. Though it can be slow.

Hmm... I'm calling them via the upgrade option... on hold with annoyingly broken music atm... interestingly it said I was not eligible to upgrade with my contract due to end 14th september 2014 so it must be at least partly processed as I know the money has been taken out too.

Wow they need to fix the music on the hold system!

You're correct. But not until September 2013 unless deals are done.

Doesn't bother me. I don't buy the "S" series of iPhones. And if EE come out with some amazing 4G SIM-Only deals, and cover my area, then all the better.

Picked up my nano SIM from 3 at Silverburn this afternoon. The first guy I spoke to didn't know about it but his colleague did. The micro and full-size adapters are not actually in the nano SIM pack, they're separate so make sure you get given those too. Completely free. It seemed like the computer system did the discounting automatically.

Yep, when if Three uses that spectrum which they most likely will given that they've already signed on Samsung for deployment.

I got told no PAYG sims for a month unless you get one from apple. I wanted to try it to see what coverage was like. I won't switch from O2 unless I can try first.
Do you think the apple store will sell me a PAYG nano sim before Friday?

That's bull. They could.

Very nice! Is that for PAYG or a specific SIM-Only contract? If PAYG, what PAYG tariff do you plan to be using? And the same for SIM-Only contract lol.

OK, so after being transferred to upgrades after a bit of a faff I've been told that I will get it Friday. However this sounded a lot like a line rather than checking my specific order.
He said the order codes sent out with the texts saying 18th delivery are wrong which is why they don't track. He also claimed we'd get a new tracking order when the system was fixed (I'm dubious).

I explained I thought even friday seemed too early to get it as I ordered mine so late (3pm) but he still kept saying "You will get it on Friday".

Felt like he was rushing to get to the next annoying iPhone guy rather than check my details properly though.

It's a SIM-only contract. PAYG SIMs will be available on Tuesday I think. The specific plan I'm on is the SIM 15 from 2 years ago: 3000 texts, 300 minutes, 2000 3 to 3 minutes and 2GB data. I don't plan to switch to a more recent plan since (1) I get an advocate discount which I lose if I switch, and (2) I can tether.

I wish they'd stick to one story. I phoned up last night and was told they couldn't check my order until next friday.

The guy I spoke to was surprised I had not been told about the T&C which say they only guarantee within 30 days of release. He said it should not be 30days. Presumably to cover themselves.

You'd think they would have got their act together after so many previous iPhone release panics. It's not like it isn't expected!
I still can't stress enought how little it seemed he actually checked my account.
It doesn't seem right that I'd get one Friday when my order was 7+hrs after some people's.

I don't think they actually know.

Ah nice, how much is that per month?

Since I'm a new customer I'd be looking at anything up to the £12.90 ones, probably 1GB Data 250 Mins 5000 texts. Do you know if they start billing new customers from the day they get the SIM contract or from the moment they activate the iPhone?
