Not sure whether to try London tomorrow. Part of me says they'll have a delivery, the other part thinks they'll save it for the weekend.

Genuinely hoping they do the delivery over the weekend. It will give those of us that can't get off work, during the week, a chance to get one! Question is whether they will deliver to some of the smaller stores on the outskirts of London.

Well, it all depends how far out of your way it is. If anything, the larger stores in London are hit harder by both scalpers and genuine customers alike. A smaller store nearer home might get less stock, but could still have phones available for longer when they get a delivery.

Also, don't forget the carrier stores - if you want to stick with a network, but are in a contract or don't want to be locked in or have contract prices, you might have luck finding a PAYG model, for only the price of a cheap sim extra. Three definitely are allowing PAYG sales already (see my post above), and others may follow suit soon. EE definitely seem to have a in-stock sign in all the stores I have seen, so may be soon to follow suit.

I'm gonna check out Covent Garden tomorrow. Does anybody know what would be the best time to get there? I have no clue when deliveries are taking place...

Well at 08:30 today Regent Street knew they did not receive iPhones so I would say you'd need to get there before the store opens at 09:00.

Going to try hit as many london store in the morning before they open some tell you if they have stock.

Trying to beat the scalpers but if you see a load of them then you know there is probably going to be stock.

Went to the Trafford centre today. They didn't have any 5s' in stock but thought they be getting some in the next few days. Good luck all. You won't be disappointed

Yes.
I bought iPhone 5S from EE.
Called Apple and bought AppleCare+.
They sent me an email with link which opens up a Diagnostic window and it gathers info from iPhone and Apple can look at it.
As I called them as soon as I got the iPhone, after setting it up, Diagnostic was OK and I was able to buy Applecare+
Phone Number: 0844 2090611

Call an Apple store (eg. Regent Street 020 7153 9000) and choose option 2 to get through to the same department.

This way you won't pay the exorbitant price of a call to an 0844 number.

How much is AppleCare+?

£79. Doesn't cover theft so you might be better to check Home Insurance policy with accidental damage cover (although that won't cover general failure). Also need to consider that are you likely to have the phone for more than a year?

From the Apple website:

AppleCare+ for iPhone is an insurance product that provides expert telephone technical support (1) and up to two years (2) of additional hardware coverage, including up to two incidents of accidental damage, each subject to a £55 excess fee (3).

AppleCare+ benefits are separate from a consumer’s right to a free of charge repair or replacement, by the seller, of goods which do not conform with the contract of sale. Under English law, consumers have up to six years from the date of delivery to exercise their rights; however, various factors may impact your eligibility to receive these remedies.

Based on my iMac order...

Would be GREAT to think they estimates are not as accurate as the cases proved to be and that we might get earlier than expected
!

In my experience Apple usually deliver slightly ahead of their estimates, but only by a couple of days. My last long wait was for my 2012 27" iMac.

I ordered it on the 30th Nov (as soon as orders went live) and was quoted:
Dispatched: 2 - 3 Weeks
Delivers: 21 Dec, 2012 - 02 Jan, 2013 by Standard Shipping

It went to 'Preparing for Dispatch' on the 13th Dec and actually shipped from China on Friday 14th Dec i.e. 2 weeks later.

It was delivered on Wednesday 19th Dec i.e. it took 5 days from China (it spent a whole day stuck in Germany!). So it shipped at the earliest date I was given and took two days less that the week Apple seem to allow for China to UK shipments.

On this basis, our
Dispatched: 7- 10 business days
Delivery: 07 Oct, 2013 - 10 Oct, 2013 by Standard Shipping

iPhone 5s orders should start to prepare for dispatch this weekend (29th?) and then ship on Monday 30th September. They should be delivered either on Friday 4th October or on Monday 7th.

Have you factored in the Chinese national holiday?

Have you factored in the Chinese national holiday?

If they ship on Monday 30th Sept they should be OK as I believe the holidays start on the 1st October.

I have read very mixed reports about the impact of the holidays on Apple's suppliers and UPS logistics, but hopefully our orders will get out before anyway.

First post of mine in this thread though have been following since ordering my 32GB iPhone a few minutes after the store came up last Friday morning. Just wanted to comment on this bit of advice, as I think there's some truth in it. I pre-ordered the original iPod touch six years ago, and the same thing happened then in that stores started getting stock before the online orders moved. So I went shopping around London. Covent Garden and the Westfields weren't open back then. Regent Street was packed as always, and had run out of stock very quickly.

I then gave Brent Cross a go. Quiet store, with plenty of new iPod touches sitting around! A manager agreed to honour a voucher I'd used on my online pre-order, and even asked a staff member to fetch me a demo unit to fiddle with whilst he processed the transaction for me. Was a very pleasant experience.

Hell, I hope you're right. I'd be over the moon to get my iPhone by next week!

Hey guys just got a quick question... If I manage to get one (5S) from CPW will I be able to unlock the device using three's form (or maybe going to a three store) and then use my sim (which is a non UK one)?

Its now the 6th Business Day (if we're all including the 20th as day 1) and the order status is still stuck on Processing. I wonder when we'll see some movement although technically it may not be until next Thursday if they use the full 10 estimated days for dispatch.

I dont think I've ever been this eager to at least see it change to "Preparing for dispatch".

Sold the 5 two weeks ago and have been using an old nokia in conjuntion with my android work phone which is getting rather annoying now!!

How about warranty and is it factory unlocked? And could I get one from the store instead of online
THanks
You can go direct to any Apple Store for warranty purposes. It is not factory unlocked. It will network lock to the first sim placed in the device. However 3 appear yo be the only operator currently allowing to unlock the device for a fee if £15.32 I think. So by popping in a 3 Paygo sim then requesting the unlock is the way forward. Not 100% sure but CPW are only online orders but you can request the handset be delivered to a physical CPW store rather than home delivery. Orders generally appear within 24 hours of purchase.

Just read last post looks like you can reserve online for in store collection rather than wait for delivery.
