On the product page it increases by £50 for silver and gold but remains at £629 for grey. All of the 64GB are the same price as Apple.

not on this mans mac (or iphone, either)

Only changes when I add to basket.

visiting london at the moment and no store has the 32gb in silver and 64gb in gold. Very disappointed as it's the first time ever I didn't manage to get one on release week

What? In general? because I managed to get 32GB silver in London. Agree with 64GB in Gold - far as I know , no store has received any since launch

Does anyone know if its possible to buy Applecare+ a la carte? if so where?

Yes.
I bought iPhone 5S from EE.
Called Apple and bought AppleCare+.
They sent me an email with link which opens up a Diagnostic window and it gathers info from iPhone and Apple can look at it.
As I called them as soon as I got the iPhone, after setting it up, Diagnostic was OK and I was able to buy Applecare+
Phone Number: 0844 2090611

I received the beige case today which was damaged and I rang to arrange return. The guy I spoke to at Apple said that orders for 7-10 days will ship earlier than stated, so should look out for earlier despatch than expected. I hope this is true.

My beige case came in the mail at work this afternoon. Looks okay I think.

Would be GREAT to think they estimates are not as accurate as the cases proved to be and that we might get earlier than expected
!

Just noticed someone in the apple store can't spell grey.

They might be running it through some central system in the US or they have a yank doing it.

Oddly, it displays the price as 679.0 and not 679.00. I should mention that when I called this afternoon, CPW said there were no 32GB in stock (last grey sold whilst I was on the phone apparently). I know the website contradicts itself. I'd call to be sure. Also, I selected delivery to store and all the correspondence sent after order says 2 - 4 days for delivery to store. I find that unlikely but I guess I'll know tomorrow.

Applecare would be linked and registered to the iPhone you ordered online.
If you buy another iphone from elsewhere, you will need to call Apple and link the new iPhone to AppleCare. They will run a diagnostic test on your phone before allowing you to register new iphone with it.
Or you have to take your new iphone to a store and they will check the phone before linking AppleCare to it

That's not my understanding from talking to Apple. I ordered AppleCare+ at the same time I ordered my 5S's. I had to cancel my 5S order (credit card cancelled), but already paid for AppleCare. To register a phone for AppleCare, you need the phone's IMEI, which obviously Apple can't have at the time you ordered as there's no phones in stock.

Presumably, when your phone is ready to ship, Apple know you have purchased AppleCare and perform the registration for you. When I placed another order, it's simply a case of registering the new phone myself, once I receive it, via Apple's website to my AppleCare purchase.

If you think about it, if you were one of the people whose 5S 's expected deliver was 'October', you could potentially lose a month of AppleCare if the phone was linked to it at the time the order was placed.

£679 for the 32gb model does not seem good value. I ordered the 64gb model from CPW for £709 earlier today (grey) and just got a text stating it is being dispatched for delivery tomorrow :)

You can not register iPhone yourself online with AppleCare+

True, the iPhone will be linked to AppleCare+ only when its ready to ship or shipped, although Applecare+ has been dispatched.
But Apple will not link any iPhone to AppleCare+ unless they do Diagnostics over the phone via email link or see your iPhone physically in an Apple store.

This info is available on Apple site if you click on AppleCare+
Also Apple site says that AppleCare+ starts from the moment the iPhone is shipped and not when ordered.

The 16GB Gold 5S is not expected to be delivered until the 12th October if I order through CPW, do you think its likely to be delivered before this date?

Has anyone received a Gold 5S through CPW?

I ordered mine today from CPW (32GB Grey) at about 2pm, the order got stopped as my bank declined to authorise. Called bank, sorted that. Called CPW back at about 6pm and got it re-processed. The guy on the phone at CPW seemed to think they'd just got stock in and it might even be out for delivery with DPD tomorrow morning. So sounds like they've got stock for online orders. Not sure if he was BS'ing about the delivery tomorrow though.

I buckled - ordered 16gb gold at 12:01 on the 20th, but have just upgraded early on EE- £280 inc handset price - delivered by Monday.

Old 64gb White 5 selling on eBay for nearly £300

Upgraded to a £39 plan with 3gb data

Oh dear spoke too soon - appeared I was lied to - now my iPhone is 30 days away! Despite being told by 2 different people at EE that my phone was on its way.

I have now cancelled the lot - and will wait for my original Apple order - thieving scumbags have tried to tell me it will take 21 days for my refund. I was promised a call by a senior cs rep to explain to me what happened. Surprise, surprise - they haven't called!

eBay usually have a few for sale...

That would be AppleCare and NOT AppleCare +. Applecare has been available for most if not all Apple hardware for a long time now and can be bought independently and applied to the device before the original one year warranty is over. AppleCare + has just been made available in the UK with the launch of the new iPhones and has to be bought within 30 days of getting the phone and as already mentioned the phone has to be assessed by Apple before they will assign AppleCare + to it.

I am actually in the same boat. I ordered my iPhone 5, dock and AppleCare + in the same order last Friday and my dock and the manual for my AppleCare + have already been delivered. I'm also wondering if I was to find an iPhone in retail if I can associate that AppleCare + to that phone and cancel my online phone order. Chances are will probably stick with my online phone order rather then waste time trying to get one in retail.

Just to update - Three are now definitely selling the 5S on PAYG. Stock is short, but I found a 64GB grey in the Westfield White City store tonight. Then you can do this deal:

5S 64GB - £709
PAYG sim - £15 (you have to get this, but do get the £15 as credit)
One Plan - £15/mo for 12 months.

This way you very quickly start to save the money from buying the phone outright (£99 down and £51/mo for 2 years), and you get 2000 min, 5000 texts, unlimited data including tethering - I defy anyone to get a better deal for high use!

You are confusing Applecare with AppleCare+
AppleCare+ has been available in USA before but only this year in UK.
Has to be linked to iPhone after checking iPhone via phone with diagnostics test or checking it physically in Apple store.
Can not buy it on eBay or elsewhere
