My 2 phones just arrived :D:D:D:D

downside: can't set them up at work as I don't have the nano sims with me :(

For those stuck in Cologne

Nah, apparently it just means its cleared customs. Next step is on a plane to England. Cant find out when the next flight from Cologne to UK is though.

I'm also struggling to find any info about UPS cargo flights out of Cologne and into East Midlands (where I suspect my order will hit the UK). Any of plane experts any ideas?

None in Bullring in Birmingham. A carphone warehouse in Birmingham has got two in stock, but refusing to sell them as sim-free.

I think I might give up and just order one online from Apple and wait (until the end of October!!)

Arrived in Hong Kong at 4:50, what flight do you think we will get to cologne? Or what time will the packages depart? So excited now! :D

Unfortunately, freight airline flight schedules are a lot less publicly available than regular passenger airline schedules..

So like a few others, mine has two import scans. Should we be concerned about this?

I doubt it, Apple and UPS are well practiced in all the paperwork etc so I imagine its just different scans for different purposes. If the consignment was split in Cologne, to allow those destined for mainland Europe to be offloaded, it might be that this required two scans.

Annoying that they've been in Germany for nearly a day now, but it is no real surprise. UPS said I'd have my phone on Wednesday and all signs are pointing towards that being the case.

You are one lucky bugger!

Im guessing they had to get the Ireland orders through quicker to meet a scheduled connecting flight. The rest of us are stuck waiting for a customs man with a rubber stamp to let things continue.

From what I could find yesterday, they fly to both EMA and Stansted days 1,2,3,4,5 (I assume Mon-Fri) around 3 times per day. No clue as to which one UPS might use because they're running ahead of schedule.

I was in the same situation after I picked up mine at Covent Garden last week.

I had a nano SIM waiting at home but couldn't resist cutting down my micro SIM. Worked absolutely fine. Try it!

I've been to white city, regent st and covent garden. The only place that had them was covent garden and only 16gb grey. Even though I was told on Saturday they wouldn't be receiving any until Tuesday.

Every line was full of scalpers pushing in and being generally rude.

I've just seen a guy pick up 2 64GB grey so the Apple staff member lied when she said they only had 16GB

Yea they said that saturday morning,at covent garden, I think they might be lying to get rid of a few scalpers. Need to find out what time they are getting there in the morning.

I might try tomorrow morning but really want to get there before them but I have a feeling they are staying over the night.

There's also no guarantee that they will leave Cologne on a cargo flight - scheduled passenger services carry a lot of airfreight too and the UK shipment will probably be a lot smaller now that Europe-destined phones have been removed.

I remember being on a long haul flight, sat above the cargo doors and watching Dell computers and all sorts of other things being loaded beneath me.

Looking at the Cologne departures, I can't actually see a UPS departure scheduled. That's not to say there won't be any - they may just operate flights as required

There was a UPS flight leaving Hong Kong today at 17:40 to Cologne (5X 001), but that seems a very tight connection, although never say never - the UPS tracking does sometimes take a bit of time to update... Otherwise the next flight to Cologne is tomorrow at 13.45 via Dubia (same flight number).

Just play paper, scissors and tape with your current SIM:

True, there were probably phones on that flight for parts of Europe, the stores etc and Cologne is a major sorting hub. so they are no doubt breaking them up into regional loads now.

Ours all came via Dubai

China > Hong Kong > Dubai > Cologne > ???

Unlikely as someone could just grab your tracking number and then reschedule the delivery to their house :)

Chill...

...relax

For all those with iPhones currently waiting at Cologne, UPS delivery scheduled Wednesday, if previous experience is anything to go by, they'll sit in Germany until tomorrow afternoon, arrive East Midlands early evening, be put on trucks to regional hubs overnight Tuesday and be "out for delivery" from about 8am Wednesday.

You'll get them, as promised, on Wednesday at a time depending where you are on the local route.

I've had this happen a few times now. Always seems that they're dragging their feet in Germany than at the last minute it all comes together.

For those who got the earlier flight to East Midlands then Northern Ireland, what was your UPS delivery date (not the Apple delivery date)?

Looks like you caught a break there :)

I believe I already replied to you on this, but maybe you missed it.

Simple answer is no, you can't.

Long answer is that UPS won't allow it to be changed because you are not the customer, Apple is the customer and only they can make a change to the delivery address until a 1st attempt has been made. Apple won't agree to changing the address, especially if its not the the registered cardholder address because of the risk of fraud, plus there is sometimes a cost involved in making an address change.

So frustrated that nothing at all seems to have happened to our Gold 32GB/64GB orders for 10 days! I mean.. What the...
