So I guess I can use the Easy Pay in an Apple Store. I don't have to enter any PIN. Btw I'm at an Apple Store now. No stock at all. I don't have to use any debit card or PIN ;)

You can only use EasyPay for accessories, not for an iPhone purchase.

Wait, your PIN will arrive soon, normally only a day behind your card.

Its 5:07pm in shenzhen now..maybe a couple more hours (3 or so) and there is no way we'll get the phones on time for oct.7th or even 8th,9th.. (mostly silver and gold)
*le sigh*

We don't know that 100% though. There is nothing to say that Apple hasn't made an arrangement with UPS during the holiday period.

Just as an example, in the past a bank holiday in the UK mean't everything was closed down. These days all the shops are open and during the bank holiday just gone I had two different couriers deliver goods to my house which I was massively surprised by.

Yeah, youre absolutely right. I know for a fact that a couple companies in china will still work in the next couple days, I guess I just lost a little bit of hope, 'cause our phones haven't even changed to 'preparing for shipping' :(

Or pay cash. If you turn up to your bank with your passport they will let you withdraw the cash from your account. You don't need your PIN to do this.

Hold on....you're saying what I'm doing is immoral or deceitful? Who am I being immoral or deceitful to? Our Dear Leader, Apple? The person who gets a cheaper/replacement iPhone? If it was a problem, Apple wouldn't have the not-required-by-law, no questions asked, 14 day return window.

Well you can dress it up however you like it if it makes you feel better about it, but its still wrong. Apple may be a big (I'm not going to say faceless in their case) Corporation so you might think it doesn't matter, but ultimately you are still costing them money; if everybody did the same thing it wouldn't work and they would also have to end the policy.

Such a policy is setup so that people can ensure the product is right for them, with iPhones I would imagine most people won't have an issue, but its a nice piece of mind to have when purchasing your first product and have hesitation. Deliberately abusing that system though is different.

When I was much younger my first ever job was in retail and the shop I worked in had a similar policy. People would come in and buy Playstations and Sega Saturns simply to 'rent' them over a weekend, then return them, pretty much all the people doing this would do it again. The Manager eventually had to step in and tell such people they weren't allowed to buy that product anymore. That very policy for the store no longer exists anymore now anyway, because it was too easily open to abuse.

You still didn't even answer my question though?
Are you really that impatient that you HAVE to have an iPhone 5s while waiting for the one you actually ordered?

That's not even getting to the point of the extra hassle of having to buy one, be careful with it and later return it.

Anybody been able to pick up one sim free from here?

I tried instore but they said they could order one for collection. I ordered online and got next day delivery. Locks to the network of the first sim card you put in the phone. I'm with O2 and they unlock for pay monthly phones - although received a response saying that they won't unlock it. Spoke to another agent who said they will do it. So we'll see. Other users are using 3 to unlock their phone. It doesn't matter if you're only sticking to one network.

CPW -
Tried to get one in-store on Friday and Saturday, when the online stock check said both Birmingham New Street stores had then, but told they would only sell instore on contract only.

You can order them online for delivery or in store pick up sim free though.

Do you have a link for any of the iphone 5s's as PAYG on the carphone warehouse site? Can't seem to navigate to it.

I got one from Birmingham Pallasades (up the ramp to new st station) on thursday - but that was a replacement due to the £50 price drop. They told me on the phone they sell sim free in store as well so prob just fobbing you off, bet they get more commission on contract.

As you say just order online and pick up in store to avoid hassle

They get a % from each months line rental so yeah, they want you to buy contract.

Also, the prices they get the handsets from apple give them very little profit so they are never keen on selling just the handset.

Told me on the phone that they sell SIM free in store, then said "no" when I got there. Probably just a fob-off cos they want more comission like you say.

Good luck to anyone giving it a go though.

Might give it a go in Liverpool CPW store later if they have some still.
Never know!

I ordered a 64 gold at 0:00 my email says ordered 19thso was one of the first but still no movement looks like gold might be in short supply lost interst now if not changed by later today will cancel and order my new Mac mini instead

I must admit, I'm not quite thinking that yet, but it's getting closer. I don't actually need a new phone, but I want one. Want is a different thing entirely. The way the launch has been handled with no pre-orders while stock is constantly coming to CPW, carriers and Apple stores has taken the shine off it somewhat, and the want has been diminishing of late.

So like a few others, mine has two import scans. Should we be concerned about this?

Nah, apparently it just means its cleared customs. Next step is on a plane to England. Cant find out when the next flight from Cologne to UK is though.

Import Scan
This scan is an electronic record indicating the shipment has cleared import procedures in the receiving country.

My 5S 16GB is flying :D

So who-s on this plane :D ?

Mine is in HK too:

Location Date Local Time Activity
Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong 09/30/2013 4:50 P.M. Arrival Scan
Shenzhen, China 09/30/2013 2:15 P.M. Departure Scan
09/30/2013 1:13 P.M. Origin Scan
China 09/30/2013 10:52 P.M. Order Processed: Ready for UPS

Don't think so. Still loads of people with 7-10 day dispatch, with their orders stuck at processing....one being me :(

October means by the end of the month. Should have stayed up and watched Back to the future on ITV like the rest of us ;)
