Out of interest why didn't you order a Free nano sim from the giffgaff site and use the sim swap feature? Once you have the nano sim you can do the switch online yourself in about 30 seconds.

I don't know, seemed like there was too much conflicting information on the GG website if this was really supported and a few stories of the swap not working for some people so I thought I'd go down the blue peter route first.

If I botch cutting my current SIM then I'll have no option but to do the SIM swap and I'll let you know the result, but hopefully it won't come to that :)

iPhone's very rarely (i.e. never) get discounted on launch - sometimes you can get on contract with networks through cashback websites like quidco but again it tends to be that tese offers don't kick in for a few months after launch of a new model

Apple educational discount only applies to macs and iPads not iPhones or mini iPads currently.

Carphone Warehosue are currently offering £100 cashback on upgrades through Quidco - includes 5S

worst case is actually that if you cut the sim wrong it might cause damage to the inside of your phone and makes the apple warranty void (just read this the other day on a german news site, but you can probably find info on this in english as well)

Yeah, you're right actually. But if you're careful in cutting, file down the sim properly, and make sure it fits snugly in the sim tray, it's pretty unlikely that you'll cause any damage. I managed to do it without voiding mine, and that was after a few beers!

Still, I would like to point out that I am not recommending anybody else do this and just suggesting it as an option. Any sim cutting is done entirely at your own risk.

For those worried about their phones, my UPS tracking suddenly updated to arrival at the local Gateshead depot and out for delivery over 90 minutes after it actually happened.

It seems pretty random. I picked up my 32GB space grey last week early at around 8:30am but want to get a silver for the wife.

What time is Regent St. opening at the moment? Still 9am? Are they coming out before 9am to let people know of stock?

Funnily enough, early Giffgaff nano SIMs were also hand-cut down to nano size, hopefully the ones requested now are all factory-made nano SIMs.

Gave up on the Apple Store. Walked into a 3 store and bought a pay as you go. Unlock request sent :)

Thought i would post this tracking info for the benefit of anyone waiting for their iphone 5s.

I ordered a space grey 32gb at midnight on the 20th.

Also be aware they a nano sim is thinner than other sims and so a cutdown sim could potentially get stuck inside the phone.

Yep mine was too thick (thats what she said etc) so I rubbed the back of the cut down sim on a nail file. Did the trick perfectly.
