Odd.

Probably not out for delivery today...

Also be aware they a nano sim is thinner than other sims and so a cutdown sim could potentially get stuck inside the phone.

That's what I thought. But then I realised it's a 0.09mm difference! That's so miniscule that it would work with normal tolerances. I didn't bother making mine thinner - just filed the edges so it wouldn't get stuck coming out. Still worked fine.

Hmmm! This made me laugh - particularly given many here have been tracking all the flights the iPhone's have been on to get to the UK.

I 'll take both - far flung holiday and fab phone!!

I agree. Earn more money, then you don't have to choose ;-)

or you void your apple warranty

I can't think of any way cutting a sim down would void warranty (other than cutting it down to such a size that it fell out the holder inside the phone). Cutting down will either work or kill the sim, and it's actually pretty difficult to kill as the actual contacts are a lot smaller than the gold area above them.

As long as the size is about right, there is little that can damage the phone.

You are right, and the sim can have a tolerance of +- 10% which is more than 0.09mm. A micro sim could be thinner than a nanosim and still be within specification. It was more of a scare story when the iPhone 5 launched than based on a real problem.

I deconstructed some sims last year, and checked for contact point placement, this image shows the area not to cut, if you cut one of the 5 working tracks you will kill the sim, but it is an extremely small area in the middle of the sim that is the actual working part.

Mine left Hong Kong quite some time ago, and no trace of it since.
I was hoping it would arrive a bit earlier than Apple predicted, but it does rather look like it is going to be friday now. Anyway that gives me time to get a SIM sorted etc.

Yeah, I saw something about the actual circuit size compared to the contacts last year. It's incredibly small!

The only way you can cut into the actual circuitry is pretty much to cut down the middle of the sim. That being said, there is a very small possibility that you can short the contacts making the sim temporarily unreadable...but you can fix that by filing the edge slightly.

Mine seems to love Stansted so much that I won't see it till tomorrow (I'm in London) :(

Anyone received the package while UPS tracking state still said it was in Stansted?

What time is Regent St. opening at the moment? Still 9am? Are they coming out before 9am to let people know of stock?

I think it opens at 9am. I arrived at 8am with about 10-15 scalpers hanging around the doors and a number of regular customers. Someone came out at 8:15am and told us that none had arrived in the delivery they received.

I'll be back again tomorrow morning as I only work around the corner and it's convenient for me to swing by.

Last Friday I picked up a 32GB space grey after arriving at 8:45 and was out of the store by 9:45am (although there were around 50+ people in front of me)

Managed to change my card details since nationwide flagged it up as fraud. I can see the money has been pre-authorised on my other bank card, so hopefully no problems this time!

Still stuck at processing though :( Ordered 5 am 20th, 64GB grey

Was in Stansted for a couple of hours, then changes 'out for delivery' at 7am.
(London)

Can anyone please suggest the kind of stock levels which are arriving daily at the London stores? Anyone know if it is a daily event, at specific times of the day? (Question from genuine non-scalper wanting to purchase two phones - his and hers). Thanks a lot.

finally arrived happy day! see you all next year!

Mine arrived about an hour ago. Tracking wasn't updating as smoothly as previous years but it arived a day early so can't complain.

Good luck to all those still biting their nails!

Just backing up my 5 prior to switching over.

Yes, same time next year, back again ;)

Where did you go and what was stock like? Can you buy with no SIM at Apple retail price and unlock for free?

Westfield at Shepherds Bush, they seemed to have plenty of 32 and 64 in grey. Not sure about other colours.

The phone is the same price as Apple. You have to buy a 3 payg sim (£15) and get it unlocked for £15. But i've lined up on launch day, been every day this week at 7am to Regent St, Covent Garden and Westfield without luck so I'm happy to pay £30 extra.

Is anyone waiting in Stockport or the areas surrounding Manchester Airport?

I've got to go out soon for a couple of hours so I'm hoping it arrives soon. My iMac was delivered at 9:20 AM in December.

No stock for the past three days. Go early, 7:30 am at the latest.
