The UPS tracking is generally good, but not perfect, and not always trustworthy.

My tracking never changed to 'Out for delivery' but it was just delivered.

I hope my iPhone is already in a plane to Cologne, the next flight would be tomorrow and then it won't be here at friday, because of the holiday in Germany.

My Brother and I ordered at the same time (12:01am) with the same phone and same address. His came today though UPS is scheduled for tomorrow which is when mine will come. It turns out my Brothers's iPhone left German about 4 hours after mine arrived. Then it was sent to castle donnington. It's absolutely amazing. So light compared to my 3GS. We also ordered the Apple case yesterday and they came today! (estimate was Friday)

Nope, you're correct :)

So if something were (God forbid) to go wrong with your iPhone – can you take it to an Apple store, or do you have to go via Three? This is something I've always been confused about...

Could I just walk into a Three store, buy a Pay&Go SIM and 5S, put my current "rolling plan" Three SIM in it, and request an unlock the same day? Fortunately I'm already on Three, with a custom one of their 30-day plans.

It has a 1 year Apple warranty so Apple would deal with it. You can get contract phones replaced at Apple.

I'm not sure, I think all carriers have to offer unlocking by law so you should be fine. I'd check with Three though.

Now the time of the departure in Hong Kong also changed...
What are they doing?

Mines saying that now.... someone posted a link earlier to flight tracking UPS3 from HK - that worked for a bit then vanished...

Ah well, sure it will still get here on Fri. I should really just stop checking until then, something addictive about it though! :)

Ah ok – as long as I can go straight to Apple. I avoid carrier stores as much as possible!

I think they have to offer unlocking when you're out of contract, however, I won't ever be in a contract for this 5s. I wasn't sure what the rules were for unlocking a Pay&Go phone – but you say you had no problems?

That was me. Just keep checking. It will reappear after it passed Iran, I guess.

Best availability for a 5S Gold 16 or 32gb

Is anyone been able to buy these from an Apple Shop? EE have told me that will deliver a PayasYouGo in 2 days, it's only available online and one their stores suggested it might take 7-10 days. Went into CPW who told me around 2 weeks with a contract.

Any tips? What was anyone's recent experience going to an Apple Shop? (I use shop to differentiate from the online Store)

Mine hasn't move from Castle Donnington, North Rode is my delivery depot which is only about 60 miles from there. Anyone else's shipment stuck at Castle Donnington?

You can buy them from Apple if you get to a store for about 7am – even then you need to be lucky enough that they got stock that morning/the night before.

Long story short; it's extremely unlikely, but possible. You cannot just turn up to an Apple store at any time and buy one – not by a long shot.
