Well called EE about iPhone 5S prices, seeing if he could offer me anything as I've been with Tmob for over 7 years. Answer was 'sorry sir, I can't give prices until iPhone 5S comes out' well thats great considering I know the standard iPhone 5S prices and you don't...

What the hell. They're on their website. http://shop.ee.co.uk/iphone-5s-group/pay-monthly/details/

Thinking of going with EE myself, their prices seem very good compared to everyone else right now.

Exactly, I even said that to him, that I had the prices right in front of me. Nope he didn't want to know...

I thought if i threaten to leave might do something, but I know how tight they are on iPhone contracts I'll probably just have to stick with the normal pricing like everyone else. Alas if I can save a few pennies by waiting to order at more sociable hours (at the risk of not getting a phone on launch day) and not queue outside the store, then I guess I'll have to do that.

64Gb phone on lowest EE tariff that offers at least 1Gb data is £1103.99 over the 24 months of a contract. This is not bad considering that's a 4G contract: the cheapest possible option I am aware of is going Three SIM only (which will become 4G for free) which is £946.60 over the two years but you need £709 upfront for the phone.

Phoned up O2 yesterday. Apparently they wanted £27 just for 1GB of data.
Got my PAC for Three. :)

Good plan, you will be amazed at how you put up with poor 3G speed and coverage for so long. Shame about lack of Visual Voicemail but I use it so infrequently I would gladly have unlimited data and fast speeds.

How much data have I used this month? Who cares, switch to three and stop worrying about such things.

If we order the iPhone 5s at stupid o'clock (12:01pm - 3am) for example when do you think we'll get the phone? - I have never ordered an iPhone direct from Apple always pre-order with a carrier but as I want the 5s and I am still on contract I am buying it outright.

I asked this question on the apple website chat facility last night and they said they did not know!

I am same buying direct from Apple for first time............I would look back at last years threads but of course they were pre orders so not a good comparison and there are pages to trawl!

renewed my O2 contract yesterday. Simplicity tariff.

got the £21 package for £16 instead...

unlimited mins, unlimited text and 1gb data- 12 month contract.

buying 64gb silver 5s tmrw.

That's pretty good, I wonder why O2 didn't try to sweeten me with a sim-only deal.
I am puzzled how every company but Three can offer such paltry data packages. What good is "unlimited text messages" when Whatsapp exists and Three offer 5000 a month?

I keep feeling as if I'm missing something, there's such disparity.

They'll likely tell you its because they have better customer services, which is true - but if you have a good network you'll rarely have to call CS.

Only problem with three is if you ever try to leave - quite often you will have an hour conversation with someone saying the same thing over and over.

I guess most people still think of 3 as a company with low prices, bad customer service and poor signal. Which is very unfair as they improved a lot over the years.

So 3 feel that they need to go out of their way to encourage customers by offering unlimited data and lots of mins and text for very little money. Where as O2/EE/VF etc feel they don't have to.

I'd go with three, but down here in the river valley where we live, there is just no signal..O2 is five bars, vodaphone ( wouldn't go there anyway ) is also good, but EE, Three both struggle where we live...Over the years I have accumulated quite a loyalty bonus with O2 and I get pretty much maxed out data and texts for £11 per month...No reason to jump ship, and I recently renewed with them and put my Fiancee on the same plan...they don't do family plans any longer, but they gave me the same bonus for her as I've had so we pay £22 a month for both phones.

I guess it's just a matter of wait and see then! - I'm oddly very excited about the iPhone 5S!

Well after jumping ship to the Galaxy S4 for the past 4-5months I am thinking of coming back to Apple. I have enjoyed the S4; especially the screen which truly is amazing. However there is, in my mind at least, no denying that Apple products and Apps work smoother.

I have noticed that the Samsung stutters sometimes especially when opening the gallery and whilst I am aware these are first world problems, it has been frustrating this first world resident ;) also I have to admit I never managed to get any of the hand waving; eye tracking functions on the S4 to work.

One thing I am not looking forward to, aside from the amazingly high price is the inability to order the 5S before launch. I am looking to drop a lot of money and hate being made to feel privileged for the opportunity to do so. Has it been mentioned when the online ordering will beginning (midnight or 8am?) also what do people think the turnaround time would be for the online orders; would it be 24hrs or 4-5days job?

One last question I am slightly confused with the various LTE bands; but I am off to US next week is buying an unlocked handset over there an option for us in the UK (thinking of using Three or EE).

The UK will use bands 3, 7 and 20. The US model supports 3 and 20. Three will use bands 3 and 20. O2 will use 20, Vodafone 7 and 20, EE use 3, 7 and 20.

Band 20 is good for building penetration and distance but has poor bandwidth (speed). 3 and 7 are great speed but lack building penetration.

So yes, a US phone will work on 3 but may give you issues if you switch networks at a later date.

What band do they use in Japan?
Do you know

So are you saying we should use EE if we are using O2? Im confused by this whole choosing.

Use whatever network you like if you buy a UK phone. I was replying to the guy asking about buying a US model to use over here.

UK model supports SOME of the bands used by Japanese carriers. I doubt it supports enough to be useful.

Full list of supported bands by model here http://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/
UK iPhone 5S is model: Model A1457
UK iPhone 5C is model: Model A1507

excellent thank you. I will probably stick with Three anyways; never been a fan of Vodafone or O2 (fingers burnt when it was an O2 exclusive handset).

anyone know how those recycle phone website treat non UK phones? i am thinking about when the 6 comes out (or Galaxy S5) and i want to part sell the US model?

AS far as im aware just the same.
alot of them offer you to send your phone back if there are any issues so you are covered in that matter.

Just check one of these sites T&C and the condition is it must function on at least one UK network. Happy days

Even with the state tax it will be much cheaper. Now the question whether to try and order online US (get delivered to my friends place) or attempt a store walk in...i am going first two weeks of Oct, will the stores have stock?

Sorry if it is old news, at work and no time to go through all 20+pages of posts but the guy in O2 said that people who pre-order on Friday morning with O2 should receive their phones in around 3 weeks....:(

Guess I will be giving that a miss then!

Certainly not going to queue, just to be able to pre-order something that will not be with me for 3 weeks...
