Sorry if it is old news, at work and no time to go through all 20+pages of posts but the guy in O2 said that people who pre-order on Friday morning with O2 should receive their phones in around 3 weeks....:(

Guess I will be giving that a miss then!

Certainly not going to queue, just to be able to pre-order something that will not be with me for 3 weeks...

Sounds like it might be the same everywhere.

Going to go with Apple SIM free, I'm out of contract so I'll get a cheap deal once I know when the phone is coming. It wouldn't surprise me if those ordering online even at 00.01 won't get their phone for a week or two.

confirmed on 02
No collection in store on the 20th, and only ordering as such.

----------

Just check one of these sites T&C and the condition is it must function on at least one UK network. Happy days

My sig is a charity comparison site for phone recyclers.... useful to keep hold of

Hello! How long to do you think stock will last for in the Apple Store on Friday? I'm a teacher so I can't make the 8am opening time! Fortunately on Friday I have a half day, so I finish at 12:15 and could get to the Apple store for 1pm. Do you think there's any chance they will still have any stock? I'm looking for a space grey 32gb!

I spent about an hour trying to ring the Newcastle Northumberland Street EE shop to no avail. EE twitter seems to think they will have stock.

For the Iphone 5 launch at the trafford centre anyone who wasn't queueing by about 6:30/7 went home empty handed and that was when there was pre ordering and ample carrier stock, so this time its only going to be worse. Especially as you want a 32gb space grey which is probably going to be the most popular version. sorry :(

Just an FYI for anyone interested, I called Vodafone earlier and asked if their stores would have stock.
The guy said the stores will all have stock, but they may be in limited numbers. My local store is quite a small one so I expect pretty low stock, but I'll be getting there when it opens and don't imagine there being too many people waiting. I could be surprised though!

Anyway, they said if there is no stock of what I want in my store, I can place an order in store or online for delivery the next day. Which is pretty good!

Now to decide on what colour I want.

rchip: no chance at all.

Thank for your help!

:(

Oh well, online order it will have to be! What a shame they didn't offer a pre order online. I'm convinced they didn't offer it to generate an impression of really high demand so there is a large line for the news to report on.

Around what time you need to be in the queue (London Covent Garden or Regent) in order to get one? Im looking for the 16gb Grey

From experience based on other iPhone releases.

I genuinely don't think they could get enough off the production line - too busy making 5Cs.

Thanks for the help! Hah thanks for your condolences too.

I'd like to think you're right, I'm just a miserable skeptic hah.

Anyone know if carphone warehouse will sell iphone 5's in store on launch (sim free) and if anyone has experience with how much people go do carriers over the apple stores themeselves. Iv got a carphone warehouse 5 min away and an apple store 40 mins away.

Why don't you go in and ask them or ring them up? You'd get a much better answer. However, It's unlikely, especially if Apple's going to have supply problems and O2 can't even get stock.

If you do call them and find out, please post what they say here!

Three info (not much!)

Talked with local manager in Three store here today and they have absolutely no clue if they're getting stock or not! His area manager also has no idea as yet! He said they're hoping for info tomorrow and is going to phone anyone who's given him their info! (Not sure that will be practical when it comes down to it though!)
So basically I suspect there will be no stock and will try to order from the apple website early!

Rung up my local O2 store today, they said that they WILL have stock of the iPhone 5S in as he had just read an order for them on the morning of the 20th. He said it did not state how many, but to come early (8ish).

Got my text from O2 confirming to me that my 32Gb blue 5C has arrived at my O2 store ready for collection on Friday.

Think the wife is gonna pick it up for me so it'll be ready for me getting in from work.

My local Vodafone store has stock due, so will hopefully get one Friday, nice space grey 32gb model on a 12 month contract. :)

Their tariff details are available on the vodafone 5s forum section for anyone interested...

Thanks for that. I was wondering what their tariffs were going to be. I am also going for a 12 month one with Vodafone. The one off price of the phone is pretty high, but I'm lucky in that I get 20% off their fixed line rental through working for a bank. That means I normally go for the top tariff to reduce the amount of the one off cost for the handset! Works out pretty well.

Really hope my store has stock!

Do you know if they offer discount to any other services / trades / etc...?

It's unknown really. No one knows how much stock Appple has been able to manufacture. 32gb space grey would be one of the most popular but it's also likely to have the most stock. Also if you go with a contract phone you might find a mobile store with them in stock. Each store with the larger operators is likely to have a few in stock on launch day.

There's a lot of people talking with certainty on here about stock levels that they are very unlikely to know at this stage. In previous years they have not all sold out by lunch time either and we don't know how the 5s will compare. The 5c could also reduce some of the demand for the 5s too.

That'd be the 5c which is basically a 5 with a plastic shell. If there were to be shortages of the 5s it would due to limited numbers or late availability of 5s specific components.

I meant they were too busy ensuring stock for 5C was high, leaving 5S was low but never mind.

Still can't believe three haven't announced their tariffs yet.
