Looking like a massive dud this iPhone 5s launch.... O2 going to have zero in-store stock on Friday according to site and staff and twitter.

No way am i queuing up for a chance to pre-order.
Dunno how other carriers are going to fair but O2 must be a fair representation of stock levels over the major 3.... Are sim-free buyers going to be the only ones to get on launch day?

So Three and O2 ... no stock in store....?!

Pif...

Popped into the O2 store to enquire about their prices. Don't see why you wouldn't just buy the handset and go sim-only.
If you're already paying for the phone month by month, why are they forcing minimum tariffs on you too?

Anyone else getting there's at Brighton, Churchill Square? According to a 2010 meetup thread people were queuing outside H&M, but maybe it's different this year? Don't want to get there in the dark and find no one around, only to realise later I haven't found the queue haha! :D

I think I'll arrive around 4AM. Hopefully that's not too late :) Going for space grey 64gb which I guess is gonna be the one with the most demand, so hopefully 4AM isn't too late :)

I'll also look at dispatch times on Apple's site at 12:01 out of curiosity. If it's 24hr delivery then I'll probably order online :)

Guess this just shows how clueless O2's support staff must be then...

I think I will order online (I am assuming it's going to be cold like the last 2 weeks or worse)

One thing I would like to know about the 5S is how burst mode will work with a flash. Will the light stay on constant, will it flash 10 times a second or can flash not work with burst mode?

Wonder if this is O2's policy or because O2 won't be able to offer 4G on day one have Apple limited their stock?

The people on 'chat' aren't the best source of info at the best of times. Call 202 during the day. You'll get through to a human being. They mostly seem Scottish, they're 'natives' anyway, not call centre folk.

From past experience the 64gb are the least demanded although space grey may be the most in demand colour.

We got to the metro centre last year about half 3 and were about 50th in the queue!

this has prob been answered 50 times already but, do the usa iphone 5c's work in the uk? i.e if someone bought me an unlocked 5c from a usa apple store and took it back for me will it work fine on uk networks? £100 odd cheaper in the usa, we're getting raped

US prices don't include sales tax...

even after sales tax still £70-£80 cheaper, will they work fine tho on uk networks? im guessing they will just need confirmation

Yep, I'll be heading to Churchill Square! I did it before for the 2010 iPhone 4 launch. I think my friend and I arrived at about 05:00 and we were 15-20th in the queue.

Afternoon All

We have had many questions regarding the iPhone 5s pricing and availability and I am happy to be able to confirm the following options for the release on Friday 20th.

We will be releasing the iPhone in store, over the phone and via our website. Stock in store is limited but if they run out you can then order for home delivery and we will get one to you as soon as possible.

Our 4G packages also come with some great bonuses such as Spotify Premium or Sky Sports Mobile TV as well as 4GB of extra data

If you have any questions then please feel free to ask away.

Great! Is anyone crunching the numbers and creating a total-cost-of-ownership spreadsheet?

Yes. You are way cheaper buying outright and going SIM only with Three, Giffgaff of T-Mobile:
Code:
Provider Calls Texts Data	Term	Phone Cost	Monthly	After 1 Year	After 2 Years
Vodaphone (4G Ready)	Unlimited	Unlimited	2Gb	24	299 47	863 1427
Three (SIM Only)	600 5000 1Gb	12	709 9.9	827.8 946.6
T-Mobile (SIM Only)	500 Unlimited	1Gb	12	709 11	841 973

So over the 2 years of the contract the Vodaphone price will be over £400 more. OK, you get different data, calls, texts on all 3 but my spreadsheet is based on my needs: 1Gb data min, lots of texts, very little voice.

So the 16GB 5S with the cheapest 4G (*ready!!*) tarrif on Voda will cost £1207 over the term?

Hard pass from me
