Apparently the plane that took off from Hong Kong last night is attempting to set a record for time spent in the air without a landing.

So for all those whose Gold is arriving tomorrow... what case are you getting? I was thinking the Apple Beige one works quote well, though is perhaps a bit dull. I haven't checked out any other manufacturers cases yet; any recommendations?

I've purchased the Elementcase Ronin, bit pricey but then again the phone was hardly cheap think it compliments it well, also purchased an invisibleshield to stop it from getting any scratches :)

Do you think I've got a good chance of receiving my phone tomorrow. It's currently in castle donnington and I near birmingham (Walsall/Cannock)?

If ups says your delivery date is tomorrow, then you should get it ok!

My silver should arrive tomorrow. I know it's not gold but it's very similar. The case I've bought for mine is the switcheasy tones white case. I've opened it and it seems very well made, plus you get two front protectors, 1 back one, two plugs for the headphone port and two plugs for the lightning port.

Thanks, I'll take a look!

Spigen Ultra Thin Air.

I live in Brierley Hill and mine is at CD. Booked tomorrow off work, so it had better be here (and my case!) :D

I'm 23 miles from the local depot, so hopefully should be one of the first drop-offs.

My Gold iPhone 5S up is due for delivery tomorrow as well :D I have a leather Apple 5S case (brown).
There is only one thing I'm not sure about, battery, when I first get the phone (I will be at uni so I wont be able to open it until I get home, but someone will be in) is it best to use the phone until it dies or should I charge it straight away?
Also does it harm the phone to charge over night? I intend to use at uni in the day and then charge it at night while I sleep.

Does any one know if any Apple store in London has any stock? I don't mind about colour but looking for 64GB.

I've tried ordering from carphone warehouse but my order always gets cancelled for some reason...maybe they don't want to let go of the sim-free ones..I've tried two different cards.

:(

Had all iPhones since the first and always charged overnight - never really had an issue with that.

Just use the phone when you get it, and charge as you plan to, Apple do recommend to run it down around once a month or so.

I've got a 4 year old 3GS which still has great battery life, and an even older iPod, and I just used those normally from day one, so unless the battery is actually defective I wouldn't even give it a second thought. My soon to be replaced launch day 4S has been charged overnight every night on a dock, and the battery life doesn't seem any different to the first day.

All your worries come from old battery wives tales. Just use it, that's all you need to do.

Overnight won't harm it as it shuts down charging by itself.

Not according to mercenary. But hey as the name suggests. Hope you do get it early though. I'm manchester & 2 miles from ups depot. Let's hope we both don't have to hang all day

Oh right ok, yea I did read a while back that leaving it on charge over night can "over charge" the phone. Do you know if he battery is any better than the 4S? By that I mean will it last longer?

It's supposed to be about 25% better I think. Same as the 5, but the 5 was an increase from the 4S.

I've ordered the silver phone and I've got the Alumania Edge Line case, which is essentially an aluminium bumper and then you get two back plates; one is clear plastic and the other is aluminium. They do the cases in a few different colours (including colours to match the silver, gold and space grey). I was going to get red, but decided on silver in the end as I wasn't sure if the red was a bit tacky. I wanted a case like this so that it didn't ruin the look/feel of the phone (I intend to use the clear backplate)...however, whether I'll get any reception when the phone is in the case remains to be seen...

I've never had a case and don't really like them but on the other hand I've not had a 5/5S which look like they may not be quite as robust in day to day use. I cleaned up my never-cased 4S the other day, and you could not distinguish it from brand new. I'm not sure yet if the 5S is going to fare so well without a case. Is anyone else who has never used a case considering one now? Or is the 5/5S tougher than it looks?

I'd love to not need a case, but I always end up dropping my phone at least a couple of times, so am rather worried to not have it protected in any way.

Mines on that flight too, not only is it trying to beat the longest flight ever but it went back to China again after arriving in Hong Kong. :D I wouldn't worry though, it's just the crap tracking and updating of their system I reckon. I'm sure it will still arrive as scheduled - famous last words!!

The only time I ever dropped an iPhone I missed my pocket somehow and it fell from waist height and landed right on top of my bare foot. The phone was fine, but with the weight of the 4S it hurt like hell :)

lols think I'd choose broken foot rather than a broken iPhone lol!

Just looked at all the recommendations, thanks guys! Think I'll stick with the Apple one for now and see how I get on, just got to decide now between Beige or Brown...

When the iphone reaches 100% it stops charging. Let's it discharge a little, then recharges, then stops, then charges and so on.

All the stuff your thinking off relates to nickel metal hydroxide batteries. Not lithium ion which the iPhone has.

I've baught an iphone that's locked to orange from someone else's contract and heard it can only be unlocked after 6 months

Does anyone know if I can use a paug SIM card and unlock the phone after 6 months even though it was on someone else's contract?

Cheers

I'll be using a basic TPU rubbery jobby from amazon, as i've done with all my iPhones. It's drop protection is great and they have enough access for the Apple lightning to 30 pin adapter for my radio alarm clock dock thing.

Was thinking about getting one of the Apple cases, but they don't allow you to use the Apple lightning/30 pin adapter with the case on. Which is pretty pants really, as i like to leave my phone in its case :(
