UK iPhone 5s and 5c Thread

I guess after the Oct 7th-11th group have got their phones delivered, it's the "October" peoples turn. Order statuses may change to "Preparing for shipment" between the period Oct 12th-31st. Under a week to wait then.

I think when the Apple store opened for orders on the 20th, UK started off with 7-10 Business days?

Funnily enough, that's exactly what's happened with mine (32GB Space Grey). Has changed to preparing for dispatch now I can access the page again. Ordered late on the 20th (financing wasn't processed till the next day but I don't know if that affects things or not) when the estimate was simply "October".

I have Silver and so far picked up the official Apple Black and Product Red cases, as well as a Spigen Neo Hybrid Dual protection (mostly black with white band/border).

Love the feel of the Apple cases although they are a touch bulkier than the Spigen which is nice too but slimmer all round.

Beige and brown suit the gold pretty well. Suspect the beige will show dirt/marks more though if that bothers you.

I have a similar thing but from Germany. Departed at around 05:00am and still not landed anywhere!! Its only a 1 hour flight from Germany to UK! :confused:

Ah right, I've been on 'preparing for dispatch' for 2 days. Unless I'm not doing it right :confused:

Plus, do they dispatch over the weekend?

I ordered the beige with my gold and of course it arrived ages ago. It is much paler than I expected (kind of alabaster or putty coloured) and I think I might in retrospect prefer the brown but overall I want a paler look for a change from the black 5 and case I currently have. I expect however that it will end up dirty like the cream leather smart cover I got for my iPad and eventually ditched :rolleyes:

I was planning on beige too, however the reviews on the USA Apple store indicate it gets discoloured fast, so think I'll go pick up the brown one instead. Let me know how you get on with yours.
 
I'd like the leather case, but it doesn't fit most third party headphone jacks, including the Sennheiser headphones that Apple sell.

I think the leather case fits headphone jacks where the first couple of mm of plastic adjacent to the metal jack has a diameter of 5mm (like the supplied Apple earphones) and not 6.5mm, like my Sennhesier phones.

Why should we? How many other consumer devices would you pay for and have no real idea when it's going to turn up? It's shoddy behavior from Apple to not make the constraints clear.

Well they basically said yesterday that if he didnt come back yesterday she could have it today. So she calls this morning and he didn't come back for it, great they then follow it up with he's coming in for it today, partner gets a little upset at this point and asks to speak to the manager anyway ten mins later she gets a call saying she can pick up the iPhone so right result just a pigs ear made of sorting it out.

Well done o2 - I think.

seeing that I'm a paul smith fan and have matching wallet & filofax, i opted for the following (last year) which will match the gold colour of the 64gb due in tomorrow

No. It lacks structural integrity to use crappy marketspeak. Apart from the fact that it bends quite nicely, if you leave it in your back pocket, all of the 5ses on display at the Apple store I visited had numerous dings, dents and scrapes all along the chamfered edges. A solid case is a must.

I agree. I think this situation could have been dealt with better on Apple's part. However, this kind of thing happens every year... It's the sheer amount of people wanting a new iPhone. It's something that can't really be helped.

That's true.

However, there really any excuse for stores to only have a singular amount of any one model, especially with people queuing up as much as 2 days before.

I guess Apple just didn't anticipate supply and demand again. This period of catching up with orders is a yearly event unfortunately and therefore you get these random deliveries of low stock turning up at stores.

see i dont think that's the case, they know exactly what they're doing, all this scheming is well planned. they create all this hype and buzz to generate more sales and increase their shares on the stock market. I refuse to believe they were met by unprecedented demand. they're one of the biggest companies in the world, they work on an iPhone (design etc) two years in advance, they know demand is high, its just to hyperbolise the situation tbh.

I'm going to try and fit my Draco 5 over that TPU back so I can use a PowerSkin Pop'n without it taking my back protectors off.
