You won't be able to order at midnight in the UK—that's the US time. From memory it will be 8am here.

CUPERTINO, California—September 17, 2013—Apple today announced that iPhone 5s, the most forward-thinking smartphone in the world and iPhone 5c, the most colourful iPhone yet, will be available to customers on Friday, September 20 at 8:00 a.m. local time at Apple retail stores and at 12:01 a.m. BST at the Apple Online Store. iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c will be available in the US, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the UK.

Yep, everything points to midnight.

So anyway, any educated guesses as to when it'll be delivered?

Most vendors will only let you unlock AFTER your 2 year contract. Which is no good should I go on holiday and want to pop in a local SIM.

O2 and Vodafone will unlock your phone for free at any time. I don't know about EE or Three.

I've seen some reports suggesting 10-14 days before delivery.... But I'm really not expecting that.. And certainly not for the first batch of online orders.

My guess (based on no knowledge) is Monday...

I have a 'Three' question...

Im currently on a 4S, contract expiring next month. My plan was to (hopefully) grab a 5S from Apple store in the morning and then swing by 3 and get them to swop my micro-sim for a nano-sim. I would then cancel my contract next month and go onto their pay-as-you-go deal.

My question is will they be able to just swop my micro for a nano instore?

Thanks if anyone can help or has previous experience doing this!

I am not going to upgrade my iPhone 5. I want to wait for next year iPhone 6.

So do we know if EE will have any 5S's in stock on Friday in store?

I was just in an EE store for something unrelated and the person said they've got their stock of the 5C and 5S sitting in the back already, so I'd say yes at least some stores will have them on launch day.

They will likely be able to swap your number to the nano SIM although the new one may take a few hours to actually activate (based on a similar experience with VF)

Three will have phones

Ok my three store phoned! They will have the iphone 5s tomorrow BUT only 16GB and definitely no gold!! Apparently the gold are especially low stocks everywhere.
They reckon it'll be a couple of weeks before they get the 32/64 GB models in.
Oh joy, Apple online store scramble at midnight it is then!!
:D

Anyone know if you can actually pick a mobile plan through apple website like you can in the US, or is it going to have to go through the network instead, i.e EE.

It seems like the Three site is getting ready to post details about the 5s; I clicked through to the 5c page and there is a link for the 5s that leads to a page about the phone but the link position leads me to believe it will be a similar tariffs page.

Yup, seen that on twitter, they also apparently announcing the tariffs when you are able to order online.

Hi

I now have a UPS tracking number for my 5c. I know this is a bit of topic but does anyone know on the day of delivery do UPS give a delivery time, or timescale? Just got some things to do tomorrow and really could do without spending the day waiting.

Alex
ups = usual business hours

Covent Garden London

Anyone any experience queuing for an iPhone launch at Covent Garden Apple store?

What time would one have to get there to more or less be sure of getting a phone?

Also If queuing from about 6am, what time is one likely to have to wait till 10/11am?
