Hi

I now have a UPS tracking number for my 5c. I know this is a bit of topic but does anyone know on the day of delivery do UPS give a delivery time, or timescale? Just got some things to do tomorrow and really could do without spending the day waiting.

Alex

Just got my tracking number too. Can't stay in so I'll have to probably visit the UPS depot tomorrow evening or Saturday. It's for my wife so she'll just have to wait a little longer!

And to answer your question it can come anytime I think. Although when I ordered my 5 last year they arrived bang on 9am on launch day which was probably more luck than anything!

So I'm working nights this week, tonight is my last one. I finish around 6:30am/7am and work near West Bromwich town centre so am going to grab some breakfast from McDonalds, head to West Brom, park up and go to EE for when they open at 8am. They said they have got stock of both phones so hopefully I'll be one of the first ones there. Can't really see many people in West Brom going to EE for a new iPhone... Most people there head to the job centre. Being a bit stereotypical but West Brom is really not a vibrant area for people with money.

Please could someone confirm which model iPhone 5s we need to buy to use it on O2's 4G service/band - once its available.

Appreciated.

can someone confirm what i believe to be true in that if i were lucky enough to order an iphone direct from apple it would come unlocked and then stay unlocked no matter how many sim cards i put in there? i am planning to offset the handset cost by trying out a few PAYG sims to find out which is best where i live and this would save me up to £25 p/m compared to signing up for a contract as the prices are ridiculous.

Thanks

Yes. SIM-free iPhones from Apple are fully unlocked and you can interchange SIMs to your heart's content.

Phoned my local three shop. Bloke was really helpful. They're having 9 5S's in, no gold but 4 of the 9 are 32gb silver.

He's put one aside for me. Happy days

Also, phoned Voda, limited stock, same with phones 4 u.

Couldn't get through to carphone warehouse nor EE, so will be taking my custom elsewhere.

Which Three store is this? Got a friend ordering one from our local three store. Hopefully the shortage isn't the same here.

What time are you guys thinking would be acceptable to arrive at the Apple Store to have a good chance of picking up a device? Would 5am be okay? The stock levels aren't looking too promising in Australia and Asia...

Would I be right in thinking that if the stock in Australia, Asia and the U.S is low then there is going to be BIG stock shortages here in the UK. I'm not sure if I should try my luck at the Apple Bullring Birmingham store tomorrow morning or stick with ordering online at 12:01 tonight  wonder what stock :apple: will have for us

Here is details of Three's One Plan for the iPhone 5s. This from my local store who had just received pricing.

16GB
£41/month
£100 upfront

32GB
£46/month
£100 upfront

64GB
£51/month
£100 upfront

Existing customers option - which is actually a worse deal than the one above. Only know 32GB price..
£53/month
£0 upfront

I think it will be hit and miss tomorrow. My mate works for one of the big UK networks, and he said there shop has got more stock this year than they did for the iPhone 5, but some other shops have 1 or 2, or some none at all.

Wow, those are not cheap. Feeling a bit more vindicated in burning my upgrade with them and just moving to 12 month one plan sim only.

All of these stories about low stock and 7-10 day wait time for 5ses isn't doing confidence any good!

12:01am is going to be very interesting indeed for us UK folk....

yep thats what my local Three store has just told me. £99 for the phone and then £41,£46 or £51 depending on whether its a 16/32/64 gb. Looks like its a swap from my current £35 a month 4S one plan to a £15 sim only one plan and buying the phone online

Just rang my local three shop and they didn't know pricing, saying they only will know tomorrow morning...

Just got back from the Apple store at the trafford centre and one of the sales guys said they have very varying stock of different models. he wouldnt elaborate as to which, but that for some they had very few and for others they had loads.

The cynic in me says loads of 5Cs and not very many 5Ss

I finally decided... 4G aint worth the 'premium' (i.e. rip off) charged for it at the moment, and my iPhone 5 still gives me plenty of pleasure. Currently on a good 30 day rolling contract with O2 and their 3G speed is plenty zippy for me... but really, it's unlimited data that I can't bring myself to forfeit for the sake of '4G'.

If Three actually worked where I live in SW London I might consider joining them, but so far, you just can't beat the old O2 30 day rolling 'iPhone Simplicity 20' deal.

I tried a 30 day EE sim-only deal (which is still active), very impressed with the raw speed and gawking at the sky-high numbers in the speedtest.net app but in (my) real world every day use, mobile safari loads a blink of an eye quicker. Wonderful. Mail is received a fraction quicker. Ooooh. Facebook and all the other random internet based apps refresh a tiny bit quicker. Wow! No doubt for regular tetherers, 4G comes into it's own though.

It feels goooooooooood to now not be arsed about availability, tariff hunting etc etc.

Life goes on! :p

So based on Three's apparent plans at for the One Plan pricing:

16gb £99 plus £41 a month for two years (two year cost = £1,083)
32gb £99 plus £46 a month for two years (two year cost = £1,203)
64gb £99 plus £51 a month for two years (two year cost = £1,323)

Or buy the phone outright from Apple and assume that you can get the 12 month One Plan £15 a month for the next two years (doubtful as I would guess they'll put their prices up in that time to cover the 'free' cough cough 4G)

16gb £549 plus £15 a month for two years (two year cost = £909) £174 cheaper
32gb £629 plus £15 a month for two years (two year cost = £989) £214 cheaper
64gb £709 plus £15 a month for two years (two year cost = £1,069) £254 Cheaper or still £14 cheaper than the 16gb on contract

plus if you want to unlock the contract phone at any point, based on current prices it would cost just over £15.

----------

Oh and two three stores have told me today that they'll have no stock for sale not on contract, or even if you take out a sim only deal and then want to buy the phone outright from them. think i can remember people saying that was an option with the 5 last year.

Those prices make no sense. £5 a month extra is £120 over 24mths. Why would anyone pay an extra £120 for the 32GB over the 16GB?
