Just saw in the news that foxcon in China was hiring students to work. And the jobs they applied werent the jobs they actually were going to do. They needed people to work in assembly of devices for PlayStation. That got me thinking. At the moment foxcon is assembling alo iphones, playstations 4. And xboxes... Lol thats the cause of this delay

At this point, I think there are a lot of people out there who would be happy to assemble their iPhones themselves!

Well after waiting for ages I got lucky today as I wondered by the Apple Store at Cribbs Causeway in Bristol and they had stock!

There were big queues but I got the 16gig silver phone that I wanted and then cancelled my Apple order. They had quite a few Silver and slate grey but absolutely no gold and the guy said they hadn't had any since launch day.

I can't say how good the phone is though as I thought my Galaxy S3 had a nano sim but it doesn't and having made a mess of trying to cut mine down I am now stuffed without a sim :(

Having rang EE they tell me that I can go into a store tomorrow and get one, for £10, and they will transfer it there and then. Is it that simple? Will it matter that I have messed up my existing one?

Great to have news of physical stock in a store, and a good amount at that, thanks for that Bclark1.

I am thinking of heading to a store early Saturday morning and have been trying to get info about how regularly they get deliveries and how many units.

Out of interest, did you buy unlocked or on contract? There have been a few reports of there sometimes being stock but strictly on contract only. That's no good for me as I want to buy it outright and will be a bummer if I'm queuing early only for them to say, 'sorry, contract only'.

I do realize they have Many factories. And like i said. The news said factory in China
Here is a link

Edit: diferent factories. Same country and same company

Yes, I think Foxconn has around 15 separate factories around China, many working on different brands.

Major customers of Foxconn include or have included:
Acer Inc. (Taiwan)
Amazon.com (United States)
Apple Inc. (United States)
Cisco (United States)
Dell (United States)
Google (United States)
Hewlett-Packard (United States)
Microsoft (United States)
Motorola Mobility (United States)
Nintendo (Japan)
Nokia (Finland)
Sony (Japan)
Toshiba (Japan)
Vizio (United States)

I bought unlocked, they had no problems with that.

You seem to be missing my point. If PlayStation assembly factory needs to do this... Wonder how the others are doing. Not enough production

No, you are missing the point, it's a totally different factory, run under different rules and policies, different workforce, possibly thousands of miles apart.

It's like saying a factory in Brazil is short staffed, therefore another one in Mexico has the same problem.

Other than belonging to the same company they would be totally separate entities.

64gb Gold ordered on the 20th and still processing .......and while I dont bear a grudge against anyone who's been lucky , I have really lost faith in Apple . Customer Service that can't deal with customer enquiries in any meaningful way regarding orders is not acceptable from one of the wealthiest companies on the planet and these phones aren't exactly cheap either .

'October' has become meaningless at this stage as orders from later dates regularly ship ahead of earlier ones . With more countries coming on stream shortly Apple should try to give those of us in our 3rd week of waiting some meaningful status updates .

Good Luck to you Chosen ones !

M

i have the same order, what time on the 20th did you order?

It'll be three weeks tomorrow

Ok wont argue anymore when you clearly dont understand its in the same country.

Do you realise how big China is?

Sit down for a quick geography lesson, China is (by land area) the second largest country in the world, it is larger than the USA, as an example, and just like a company in Florida having little connection to a company in California with regard to where the workforce comes from, having 2 separate Foxconn plants doesn't mean they are next to each other and sharing a workforce.

The Apple Foxconn plants will have their autonomous factories, workforce, policies, working conditions, pay etc, completely separate from any plant working for Sony.

It is also the most populous country in the world, finding labour for factories is probably the easiest of any country in the world.

What's that got to do with anything. You're the one clearly missing the point.

Thank you, I thought I was in the twilight zone trying to explain
