This is how it works: Taken directly from the Apple web site.
"When you place an order, Apple will contact your credit or debit card's issuing bank to confirm it is a valid account. Apple requests an authorisation, which holds the funds for the full or partial purchase amount. As Apple prepares your items, authorized funds will be unavailable and may display as "pending" on your credit or debit card's online statement.
If you are shipping an item, your card will only be charged after the item has shipped. For pickup items, you will be billed before your item is ready for pick up. If your order contains multiple items, you may see multiple charges on your credit or debit card statement.
If you cancel your order before your items are billed, any authorisations placed on your credit card account can take up to 30 days to expire and any authorisations placed on your debit card account can take up to 10 days to expire. Contact your financial institution for their specific timeframes."
You never know, based on mine two orders the Apple delivery date is worst case. Once a phone has been built and allocated to your order and picked up by UPS it will be here in 2-4 days which is usually sooner than the Apple estimate.
Still no change here. Stuck on 'Preparing to Dispatch' with a Dispatch of 'October.' Ah well, will check tomorrow. Good luck all.

Coming from a person who never had any expected dispatch or delivery dates... I'd take them with a pinch of salt.
Ordered mine on 4th October space grey 16gb and the websites showing delivery date on the 25th but dispatching on the 18th not too long now!!
not too long now!!yeah :/ next flight out form hong kong via UPS isn't for another 20 hours! not even sure if we'll be on that one either as it flies to Louisville (however there is a route from louisville to east midlands airport). Has anyone who previously tracked their phone gone through louisville --> East midlands?
16gb Gold, I haven't and don't want to ring them up about this even for a free case or whatever but i'm going to tomorrow just to ask if people who ordered earlier get priority or not
Yeh ppl who ordered gold are taking very long and yes that's the best thing to do. I want a free case three weeks for a phone is a very long time, how can I Find out if they will provide me one for free?
Mine will be in excess of 40 days by the time it arrives.... i'm not sure, can anyone tell us what they've told apple employees when ringing up?

Oh man! I think there are only two routes, usually Dubai or Anchorage.
The next UPS flight to Anchorage from HK is at 00:30 on the 13th October (China time)
Then another one again at 02:35
The next UPS flight to Dubai from HK is at 03:25 on the 13th also.

Just got the same email. However when they quoted my order number in the email, I've noticed that it seems to have changed from the original order number I got when I first placed my order. Clicking the new order number still takes me to my order on the apple website though
Looks like a lot of 16Gb golds are changing, pity my 32Gb gold isn't
ordered Sep 24th. I've emailed Apple and made it clear how unhappy I (and others) are, particularly the fact that it's being released in more countries before even current orders are fulfilled.
Due to the high demand of gold iPhone, it thus takes more time than other colors to be dispatched, I guess. I ordered a gold one too on 23 Sep. The dispatched date is the same date as yours.
I agree with you that "the delivery estimates LATER than people who have ordered in OCTOBER". I can't bear with that but I have to
