So my 5S is faulty.

Can I get a whole new phone with new packaging, etc? Then I can be sure it's new, as my original one was that way.

Just be prepared for a long ass wait.
My iphone arrive damaged on Monday, Tuesday I made arrangements for replacement. It's Saturday now and my iPhone is still "processing'. Honestly I will never buy an iPhone which doesn't have pre-orders again, they really dropped the ball on this.

No. They send you a white box replacement which is new and you keep your packaging.

White box models at this stage ARE NEW! It will be months before they start doing refurbs so don't worry.

Good luck with that .

Next time order earlier, or if you dislike a dispatch date don't order. You saw "dispatch October", still ordered and are now complaining because they are dispatching in October?

My gripe is that although they stated "October", I really do think an indication of early, mid or even late October could have been given to me once my order was processing. Thanks for your kind words.

I really hope that's not the case. I was told by the apple rep to send back everything. Box, charger, cables , phone which I've done. If I just get a phone in a white box there will be hell to pay.

@londongooner UPS picked mine up in Thursday. Was told the replacement would be dispatched whenever they received the old one back. So as they have yet to receive it (looks like it'll be Monday) I don't expect it to start shipping till next week. Currently it's got a dispatch estimate of 18 - 22 Oct. what happened with scottish phone?

For anyone near Reading. They have had 'a few' delivered this morning. Grey and Silver of various sizes. For my ticket for a silver 16gb and currently a queue of around 7 people.

Yes, but that's irrelevant. I purchased a phone NEW, in the box with original packaging, etc. and that's what it should be replaced with. This isn't a warranty matter, this is a faulty under 7 days matter. That would mean that I should get a whole new iPhone, in new box, etc.

Apple seem to be the only company where faulty under 7 days doesn't mean NEW PHONE IN NEW BOX, but rather, we'll send you a NEW phone, but you keep your box with the incorrect details, etc. on it.

what you are describing is a new retail unit, if you are within the 14 days days you can exchange your faulty one for a retail unit. if you have passed your 14 days then the only replacement available to you is the service unit. service units replacements will be handset only.
at this time where stocks are low, some members still within the 14 days have opted for the service as they can get them faster.

I am in the 14 days. I've only had it since Monday!

What do I do then?

I called Apple and they said nothing about a new retail unit replacement.

By the way, Basingstoke have in stock, right now: 16GB in all colours and 64GB space grey.

u need to call web order people if u bought online. or go to point of purchase if u bought in store. apple care can only send service units.

Having had a good play now one thing I notice is that data is painfully slow compared to my old S3!

I have kept the same contract and just switched across to the iPhone. Sitting in the same place in the same house the iPhone is taking about ten times as long to load a web page, this can't be right can it?

Not really, it depends on whose voicemail platform the networks use. If their chosen solution doesn't support Visual Voicemail, you're not going to get that service. 3 obviously feel it's not important enough to them to rip out their existing solution and replace it with a compatible one.

And that isn't strange in 2013 where, here in Three's primary operating country, the iPhone alone has a 45-50% market share?

Statistically it doesn't make sense to not provide visual voicemail in the UK. Nearly half your customers want it, and 50% of your top competitors offer it.

Mine just changed to

iPhone 5s 32GB Gold

Dispatched: October 24-28
Delivery: 04 Nov, 2013 by Standard Shipping

I need a plan as I have to sell my current iPhone 5, but it's my only phone, so need firm dates

Along with the above dates, my credit card "money available" has also been reduced by the cost of the iPhone.

I had an email also though with a completely different order W number. Has anyone phoned Apple and asked about this?

This!

It's the only thing that really annoys me about Three (apart from their call centres....)

The way Visual Voicemail works is proprietary to Apple, needs dedicated software and servers to make it work, and would only work for iPhone customers. Back when O2 first got the iPhone exclusive, they didn't want to do it either, but Apple insisted on it as part of the deal. As a lot of iPhone users seem to have moved to Three in the last year or so, maybe they will reconsider it, but I wouldn't count on it. They may reason that iPhone users want unlimited data more than they want Visual Voicemail, which in my case is true.

But you will get a new phone. Just without all the other stuff as you already have it. Whats wrong with a new phone in a white box vs a new phone in a retail box?

Also, its not irrelevant. You asked the question, I gave you an answer, thats perfectly relevant. Dont get grumpy with me because I didnt give you the answer you wanted.

Your getting a new phone. End of!

But it's not stopping people signing up to 3 :) you have the cost of writing off your existing infrastructure and then replacing it with new. Whoever manages the bottom line in 3 must feel there is not a case for doing so.

I understand that it is proprietary, but as I pointed out, there's a hell of a lot of iPhone users in the UK. A proprietary system that would serve use to 50% of your customers becomes nothing short of a necessary system, in my personal opinion. Perhaps just me.

Definitely agree with you there – I'd much rather keep my unlimited (with tethering) data over gaining visual voicemail!

This is true :)

Currently, my phone is free! :D I'm sure they'll take my money soon...

The odds are you probably will, as long as it gets dispatched next week. :)

The given date for my iphone to be dispatched is on 24th-28th october tho.. their system surely gone cuckoo because of too many orders..
And they email me with different order number, not the same with my order on website.

Order on 24th september has changed to preparing for dispatch even though it says dispatch 24-28th October. Looks like it might come early. Gold 32GB

I really wouldn't take any notice to the order status site, just wait for the dispatch E-Mail to come through. Not sure why they've given you a different order number though?

When it comes to reselling the phone, there is value in having an iPhone and retail box that have the same serial number, even better with a receipt with that number as well. This is strong proof that the phone is not stolen.

eBay (apparently) will not list sales of empty iPhone boxes because they are used to add legitimacy to stolen phones.

Exactly!!
So weird..but i can't help myself from checking my status order on apple website everyday/every hour. LOL its like a routine now for me hihi.
