Remaining on a network isn't the whole story though (even though it's arguable that remaining on a network for such a long time makes no sense financially, there will undoubtedly be better deals available), having the ability to change sims when travelling or on holiday can make sense if you are a medium to heavy user.

I understand that and agree, however i get a hefty discount with Orange / EE through my employer, so it's always cheaper for me to stay with the same carrier.

today im disappointed...im still on processing items..money taken from the account and customer care said that "we just make an authorize and we will take the money when we ship the phone...your iphone will ship 24-28 oct and ship 4 november" they are pathetic..this is like a recorded message over and over again:mad::mad:

i dont mind waiting when its fair...but when i see other orders from 23 and 24 to ship then im furious

Funnily enough I used to get a 50% discount from them (I used to work for them), even with the 50% discount there were a number of cheaper options. That's how expensive they are now, the competition has moved downwards with prices while EE has either maintained prices but dropped allowances (500MB data allowance on 4G???) or raised prices.

They've never sold in bulk at Apple Stores, it's always been 2 per customer. Until the phone is available worldwide (or at least on the Asian subcontinent) you will still get the scalpers though.

I watched Apple allowing each person to take 2 reservation tickets, queue, buy phone and come straight of the store (with phones in hand) and allowed to collect another two reservation tickets and rejoin the queue. One guy had 8 phones in his bag. Almost all the people in the queue appeared to be linked (one guy was giving out cash to the people queuing). Whilst not exactly selling in bulk, certainly not the two per customer limit. Appreciate that it's difficult for Apple to police (as the people could walk away and return saying that they hadn't been there).

I gave up trying the stores and ordered via CPW but that phone is faulty so I'm back to square one (and at the end of the queue if I order online from Apple).

Best bet now, phone around your local stores, I would presume there is a chance of more stock with all the shipments arriving.

Ordered 64gb silver at 00:05 on 20th Sept from Apple online.
Status has been preparing for dispatch for the last 10 days.

Estimated dispatch still just states October.

Raging.

I'm in the same boat. Ordered my 64GB silver on September 23rd. Mine has been stuck on 'Preparing for Dispatch' (with various returns to 'Processing') for the last two weeks. Phoned Apple this morning and they are still confident that they will be able to deliver within October. :(

I'm glad that I'm not the only one in this position. I've had returns to processing too. So frustrating.

In the same position too. 64 GB Silver, ordered Oct 3rd, went 'Preparing to dispatch' on the 7th, has been back to 'Processing' 3 times, is currently on 'Preparing to Dispatch.' Will be phoning them soon.

Apple says:

"I understand that you have placed an order for the iPhone 5S and are concerned about the delivery date. Your order is currently estimated to ship in October.

Your iPhone 5S is currently prepared for shipment. As soon as the order has been dispatched you will be notified by e-mail. As the date gets nearer, you will see the status online start to change"

But 9 days "Preparing to dispatch" ....

Was hoping for the same. I think they will hopefully. 17th of October. How about yours?

Also just checked that a UPS flight from Dubai departed at 5:49pm (local time) to Cologne so could be possible!

My Replacement is finally "preparing for dispatch"

I'm mainly pissed off because others who asked for a replacement on the same day as me have already had theirs. Basically customers who kept their broken phone were given priority over ones who returned theirs first. An apple rep admitted to me today that this is what they should have done with mine (the rest had denied this). From my point of view if this ever happens again, I will refuse to send back any defective products until a replacement is delivered; I would have done this in the first place had I known. Apple sent me a survey asking for my customer experience today, and I had my own little victory by posting back a very negative response :p

As much as I love always having the latest iPhone on release date, I think this is the first and only time I will order a new iPhone which doesn't offer pre-ordering. It's honestly not worth the aggro. This is the first iPhone I didn't have on release day (except for the 3GS which I didnt buy), and it's not here a month later. Unfortunately I think this will be the new normal with apple offering to even more markets on the same date.

/End rant lol

All this appalling 5s launch was in aid of trying to get as much sales as possible for the 5c, which they massively overproduced wasting factory time on and made the only model for preorder.

Terrible terrible policy. If this represents a long term policy then Cook can't resign/get fired fast enough for me.

Yeah mine says the 17th too..

Ahh! Really hoping their on that flight..although I think a departure scan at Dubai would have been done by now?

Does anyone have a rough idea how many times a week a ups shipment leaves China? Getting impatient now, 2 weeks processing!

Sometimes the tracker takes a while to update. Mine's been doing that since it left China haha. So there's a chance it could be on that flight but only time will tell I guess :)

Yep, I can just see the shareholders calling for the sacking of the CEO who presided over the most successful iPhone launch ever .

Either way the 5C pricing is a bit of a farce, the monthly contract difference is literally a couple quid.

I wrote to Tim Cook a few days ago to complain, and I just had a call from someone because of it lol.

I agree, as a consumer, it's too expensive and should have been £369 to differentiate itself from the 5s.

Apple are still selling enough of them not to care, even at the new lower production rate recently announced, Apple are still producing 4,650,000 5c's a month.

Yeah all true but I'm guessing this was meant to compete with android phones and I don't really think it will reach those numbers
