Yeah, I ordered my black 5s 64 gig at 5:00 in the morning with the 7-10 estimate. It's interesting that others of you managed to get an order in just after 12:00. In was up until 12:30 refreshing with both an iPad and Mac Pro but was still getting the store is down message.

Also at 5:00 when I did get the order in the check out keep failing with the Pro but it went straight through with the iPad.

I'm going to pop into the Southampton store on Wednesday (pay day) on the off chance I can pick one up and then cancel the on line order. If I had any idea at the time apples online customers would have been the very bottom of the list of their list of priorities I would have gone and queued.

Yeah same happened to me and my friend, both of us have no reason to have a poor credit rating. Now the problem is the money is marked as pending from my card, so guess I'll have to wait a day or so for that to clear. Not impressed with CPW.

The internal check has nothing to do with your credit rating, it flags up when a discrpeancy is found between a persons's address and the registered address of their debit/credit card. The I.d. Check CPW does involves checking the address you've entered vs the address your bank have registered for that particular card. If it's different, they suspect fraud. It's a pain in the ass.

Thats fine but I definitely used the correct address. Not sure why the money is not available to spend from my account if I failed their check?!

It was using the Apple Store App.

Indeed...

Ordered about 00:05 on my MBA. A tad annoyed that the app was seemingly back online before 00:01 but it seems immaterial as most seem to have seen 7-10 day dispatch immediately.

What will really be annoying is if the stores get new stocks during the week while the online orders keep their 7-10 day dispatch estimate. That would confirm that Apple don't care about the online orders and may as well just have not bothered offering online ordering at all.

I'm also interested that the US on line customers don't get a charge on there account until the phone is dispatched. But the money is loooong gone from my account.

Has anybody had any success complaining about the delays, what are the chances of getting a free case or something?

The anecdotal evidence seams to suggest that most carries and apple store are expecting more phone next week. It seams very odd that CPW would be swimming in more 5s than they know what to do with.

The stores may well get new stock during the week, because this was most likely already in the pipeline. I doubt our 7-10 day estimate will change because for whatever reason it's likely Apple decided to start the online orders allocated against production in that timeframe, and not sooner. I am surprised at Apple this time round. They may as well have called the online launch what it really was: just a preorder by another name.

I am also waiting the online 7-10 days
Did buy a 32gb grey - sitting in cpw hedge end from yesterday but have decided to cancel (had 2nd thoughts on extra £50 and especially hassle of unlocking phone)
Not sure I fancy keep driving to Southampton on the off chance - I hope but doubt they will bring back the reservation system for store stock

No chance. The dispatch time and delivery estimate were very clear at the time of ordering.

As they knew the relative stocks for online and retail stores, then a simple warning that if you wanted a phone quickly you should go to a store rather than order online would have made it clear without implying limited stocks.

It seems that little or no stocks were allocated to online ordering. Would have been better to allocate a larger stock to online purchases so that it wasn't so blatantly obvious that they had such limited stocks and would have seemed like there was a massive rush at midnight.

I too am very disappointed by the long lead time having ordered mine at 00:00. Attempts to check order status this morning have been returning this for the last ten minutes: "We're sorry, but our Order Status services are extremely busy right now. Please try again later"

I am certain that there was zero online stock right from the start. I ordered within seconds of the app coming back up, just before midnight, and it was 7-10 days. So Apple decided in advance not to have any stock at all for online orders.

Lol I was being charitable to them. If they made that decision, it makes it even more perplexing that they didn't say that they were prioritising stock for retail stores. Every year until now, pre-ordering online has been the best way of getting your phone quickly. Seems odd that they made such a switch in policy, even if there were no pre-orders.

It's probably you and me flooding the server hoping against hope that order status will change.

If the phones are made in China,

is it quicker for the delivery to get to America or the UK ??

I'm sort of thinking this may be a dumb question

I don't think location makes much difference at the moment as they'll be air-freighting supplies and its only a matter of hours difference.

The real issue will be that they'll be prioritising deliveries to the US

Either way I think it's going to be a couple of weeks before we receive our orders here in the UK. My orders stuck on "processing" I think it will be until maybe next week.

Hi everyone, my first post, but I've been reading through the entire thread since it started.

I, too, ordered my iPhone (silver 64gb) online at 00:02 and I am disappointed with the delivery delay :( if everyone was experiencing the same delay, I'd be less annoyed, but it seems customers who go through carriers are getting deliveries so much more quickly!

From a manufacturers point of view, I don't understand it! Apple make more profit from phones bought directly from them. Guaranteed, they're not selling them to CPW at retail price. So why prioritise those orders over orders that put the greatest amount of money straight in their pockets?

Am I the only one who's so desperate to get their phone that they've created an elaborate daydream where the order status page is down on apple's website because they're updating them all at once to say that they've bend dispatched? Lol.

sold my 5 on eBay JUST before I ordered the 5S. I assumed the 5S would take a week max, however now I'm without a phone for nearly 3 weeks. Very slow on Apple's behalf and I am disappointed seeing people with a 5S as if they have had it for ages. Makes me feel like Apple have brushed me to one side even though I waited up till 12:00 to order 2 and spent £1100.00.

Still I was happy with the sale of the 5, which I got £390 for. MUCH more than any of those scabby phone trade in sites.

It's a nice thought but don't get too hopeful. Apple have shown quite clearly that their European online orders are at the lowest priority in the initial launch. That's fine except that such an extreme decision could have been communicated in some way so that those who valued speed over convenience could have made an informed decision.

For anyone who just has a date of the rather vague "October" that is a real concern. For those of us with 7-10 days I don't think it will be an issue because I imagine those orders were allocated against a specific production window and should not change.

Carphone Warehouse still have stock of Space Grey 64GB and 32GB Sim-Free at the moment too.

I initially didn't want to order from them because it locks to the first SIM you put in, but considering I'll be with 3 for the next 12 months, I don't mind at all!

Definitely worth considering now their prices are inline with Apple!

I honestly don't regret ordering online when I read there were only X amount of phones in each store

Can you imagine standing waiting all that time only to be told come back tomorrow, then the same happens again!

I'm so glad I ordered but it's the waiting game now which is majorly eeking me off! Apple should have at least gave X amount to stores and X amount to online orders

How dare Apple do this to us after all the years of loyalty

I don't like the way Carphone Warehouse never leave you alone after buying from them. They're always calling friends of mine giving the hard sell.

I was thinking exactly the same thing! I really hope it's true (but probably not).
