Hey, just wondering if the unlock for three has gone through okay? Am planning on doing the same thing tomorrow.

Yes it has.

They charged my card and guy on the phone said I'll get text within 72 hours with confirmation.

I'll update when and if I get that text.

You'll find that the ones that have shipped were on a 1-3 business days when they ordered (yes, people have complained about their 'special treatment' already. Friday was a business day, and when they were shipped it was likely Monday (another business day) in China, so it fits very nicely into that category.

Being pedantic won't get your phone quicker.

oh, i know that. i was strictly referring to transit times and saying that saturday and sunday where both days where the phones were moving.
correct me, if im wrong but they were therefore part of dispatch times (1-3 days, yes) and then the americans also got an estimate delivery date which was obviously not the 23rd, but 25th-26th.

our 7 to 10 days, most likely, mean that theyll ship from china in 7 to 10 days...27th -30th of sep. and , most likely, arrive a couple days before the 7th to 10th oct.

That's really excellent news! I've been hovering all day not putting the three sim in but sounds like I may as well now

Good on three if it really works out

(tbh it's good advertising for three because out of this I've been looking at their unlimited, sim only deals and their unlimited data plans are pretty good!)

But Handtec is a reputable online tech store. Not some scalpers jumping queues on the apple stores... I though they had to follow apple retail price policy.
That's a bummer!

Cheers!

Sure but if you have the opportunity to charge more as a business you charge more, the same thing has happened in the past with Apple TV's, iPad Mini's, Nintendo Wii's etc…

Apple give recommended retail prices but legally are not allowed to price fix (although I must admit they are usually very good at keeping prices consistent.)

I guess, but didn't a few of those guys get the option of express shipping for extra dollar? We'll see soon enough I suppose.

Except it's not really a "simultaneous worldwide release"..

Comparing US vs UK, not only did the US online Apple store have stock from the midnight release time, which are now shipping, they have just updated the US online store with a 'personal pickup' option, effectively providing a stock checking facility for physical Apple stores.

UK Apple online customers are still twiddling their thumbs... waiting for the 7-10 October.

Yes it is a simultaneous worldwide release. If it wasn't then why were phones available from Apple stores, various carrier stores and their websites for dispatch immediately or within a day or two. The fact that orders placed on Apple's are not shipping right away is neither here nor there.

Indeed, thats why I went and put the 3 SIM same day I got phone because their plans were good either way.

Put your SIM in, call 333 and follow through to unlock. It will ask you for IMEI and they'll call back later or you can use the unlock form (easier) and they'll call tomorrow.

So tempting to buy the grey 64gb from CPWH and do this! But I originally bought applecare+ on my apple order - which has been dispatched. I'm not sure how easy it would be cancelling/returning this.....

UK iPhones are dispatched from a UK warehouse, not china, this has been the case for a few years now.

The phones are made in china. Shipped to the UK in large batches and then dispatched individually from within the UK. So when tracking your phone, it's origin will be shown from within the UK.

USA orders are the ones shipped from china.

Its exactly the same. You don't think they send each US iPhone individually from China, right? The only difference MAY be that the US customers get to track from China, but I'm willing to bet that we will, too.

Following on from my post back around Page 59, I received my 16gb Space Grey 5S from O2 this morning.

On Saturday, I phoned O2 and signed up for the Refresh tariff of the following:

Airtime Plan: £17 per month
Phone Plan: £169.99 up front, and then 24 months x £15

Received the phone today and I called O2 and paid off the Phone plan (24 x £15 = £360), and cancelled the Airtime contract too. There is no termination charge for this. While on the phone to them, O2 have said they will unlock 5S's as long as the Phone plan is paid off, and not at any time during the contract.

So, here I am, in total I've paid £529.99 for a phone that costs £549 from Apple. A few people earlier tried to say I'd have to pay the £17 x 24 months as well to cancel it, but O2 show it on their website that it's not the case and there is no fee to cancel it.

If you really want the 5S, I'd go down the same route I done, especially if you were ready to pay for the phone outright. I didn't even have to pay for the airtime charge.

Did they give you back your 550£ deposit straight away or did you use it to pay off your phone? Also, did they not make you pat 600£, which is what they claim the cost of the device is?

It's the same every year. Look at the old 4s and 5 launch threads. We have never been able to track from china but the USA orders have.

The UK orders show up as dispatched about a day before they are due to be delivered due to them only being in the UK and not having to travel across the world. UK order tracking always originates from a UK warehouse (probably in Hinckley).

I've ordered the last 2 iPhones for launch day and they have both came from a UK warehouse.

For a saving of £20 it's hardly worth the hassle going through the o2 refresh option IMO. Plus you then need to get a sim only package set up afterwards.

It's not the saving, it's the fact that I can finally get the phone. It's either them or the 64gb from CPW, I haven't decided yet.

Still, that doesn't mean they're not coming from China, remember this isn't pre-order now.. Why else do you think they're saying a week from dispatch to delivery? It doesn't take that long from anywhere in the UK.

Just wait it out. I'll hold my hands up if I'm wrong.

Does anyone know what days Apple stores get new stock for the iPhone 5s? Preferably the London stores?

I have a space Grey (as the gold were sold out) and want to swap for the gold. I have called Apple and they said it may take weeks

Same here, was at work so couldn't answer.

Call 333 (Free) and select option to talk to someone, say you missed a call and they will look at your account and see someone called re: unlock and process it for you!

Wow, thanks for that, they sorted it so quickly! I had a couple of issues with 3 (not to do with unlocking, they did that really well last time) in terms of customer service, but they've been so good lately, and their coverage has improved as well. They reassured me multiple times that it could definitely be unlocked and said it should be unlocked in 2 working days, maximum 3. Very pleased!

Once you've got the colour that's it! They will not change it for Gold or any other colour:( Your only chance is get a refund (For whatever reason you want) within 14 days of purchase, then buy the gold:)

Just had a text from UKMail, my 32GB gold 5s is being delivered tomorrow from EE. Happy days
