Good plan, you will be amazed at how you put up with poor 3G speed and coverage for so long. Shame about lack of Visual Voicemail but I use it so infrequently I would gladly have unlimited data and fast speeds.

How much data have I used this month? Who cares, switch to three and stop worrying about such things.

EXACTLY! I used to mention missing visual voicemail until someone asked me recently when was the last time I had a voice message. It was a year ago.

Wow, thanks for that, they sorted it so quickly! I had a couple of issues with 3 (not to do with unlocking, they did that really well last time) in terms of customer service, but they've been so good lately, and their coverage has improved as well. They reassured me multiple times that it could definitely be unlocked and said it should be unlocked in 2 working days, maximum 3. Very pleased!

Hehe great to hear!

I got my nano sim from Virgin mobile ready to go, 4S > 5S upgrade is noticeable and so pleased. Didn't mind paying +£40-50 at Carphone Warehouse either :D

So here's a question for the masses;

I bought Applecare+ from the online store alongside my 5S on Friday, but since It's looking like October will get here before my iPhone, I'm thinking of stopping by the Apple store when I'm nearby this week on the off chance they've got my model in stock.

So does anyone know if I can transfer that Applecare+ to a different handset if I bought one in store and canceled the online order?

Excellent thanks.

It wouldn't surprise if I turn up at the store to find they do have them in stock, but then check my app to find my online order has already been dispatched.

One can hope.

You will be seriously lucky if you find one in any apple store.

What capacity is everyone going for? I've got a 32gb 5 and its nearly full and I need to take more notes and things and wondering if I should cancel my 32gb 5s order and go for 64gb

waiting for my iPhone 5S Gold 64... :)

btw, is the iPhone 5c/ 5s supposed to support simultaneous voice and data? I got an iPhone 5c and every time I pick up a call or make a call, the data just drops (i.e. no internet connection unless I'm connected to WiFi). I just switched to Vodafone 4G plan. Is this because of the phone or Vodafone?

I'm moving from a 32gb to 64. You can never have enough memory.

Just checked in the Buchanan Street store, still none in, no idea when to expect them, the usual stuff. I asked about the Saturday delivery and the guy didn't know anything about it, went to ask another guy and apparently they didn't receive anything and haven't sold the 5s since Friday morning.

I'm not sure whether to believe that though - the staff in Apple Stores never seem to be in the loop at all. You'd think they'd know something like this though.

Oh well, I guess I'll probably see you in line tomorrow morning!

I think Apple store staff are more in the know that they let on. I remember being in an Apple store talking to a member of staff about the spring event and saying I was pretty sure they'd be announcing Haswell rMBPs. He was adamant they weren't and argued with me it wasn't going to happen. Low and behold, it didn't happen. Made me feel foolish but he definitely knew something.

I've went for a 32gb in hindsight, but thinking about it now I should of gone for 64, but I don't want to cancel and order again!

16GB for me. My iPhone 4 is 16GB and I have about 8GB of empty space. I don't have huge amounts of apps or music, I delete what I don't use. I fit comfortably into 16GB...for now. My iPad mini is 16GB and that has 4GB left on it though, so we'll see where that goes.

I am thinking of jumping over to giffgaff from O2.
Can anyone recommend this?
Thanks.

What is the main you're thinking of changing? GiffGaff use O2's network, so the coverage is identical. Besides that I can't really comment, although I do know they don't have any customer service call centres anywhere, it's all automated.

Did they give you back your 550£ deposit straight away or did you use it to pay off your phone? Also, did they not make you pat 600£, which is what they claim the cost of the device is?

I didn't have a £550 deposit with them. I paid £169.99 up front, then today (3 days later), I called them again and paid off the remainder of the phone plan which was £360.

The different phone plans were:

1. Pay £0.00 up front, then 24 months x £25 a month - Total cost is £600.00
2. Pay £119.99 up front, then 24 months x £20 a month - Total cost is £599.99
3. Pay £169.99 up front, then 24 months x £15 a month - Total cost is £529.99
4. Pay £319.99 up front, then 24 months x £10 a month - Total cost is £559.99
5. Pay £600.00 up front, then 24 months x £0 a month - Total cost is £600.00

I went with option 3 as it was the cheapest one. You'd think the other credit agreements would be cheaper as you put more money up front.

I can definitely recommend giffgaff - I've never had a problem with them and their coverage is identical to O2, so pretty good. Only reason I'm switching to 3 is so that I get the 4G in December. I'm on a 1 month rolling contract, so I'll probably just change back when giffgaff inevitably get 4G if the plans stay the same price.

I relented and went with O2 today :)
We'll see if they're being honest or not...

Did online chat thing and they initially said 3-6 weeks delivery (32gb Space Grey) even though store says in-stock ... So i say 'ok ... will leave it then if they're defniitely not in stock'

Came back and said yes ... 1 to 3 working days delivery... so ordered ... Still have my midnight Apple order but since i'm with O2 anyway and basically costing me £1 more per month for the airtime contract and getting 5x the data + phone overall will cost me £20 less than Apple i figure i ain't losing much.

Can always cancel one or the other depending on which gets here first :)

Yes, extremely good value.

I took EE to CISAS when they increased contract prices in April and won at the adjudication and was allowed to terminate my contract and they were instructed to supply my PAC. I moved my number over to giffgaff as a temporary measure in May while I decided what to do.

I'm still there, I have found coverage and service as good as (or better) than EE in use. It's incredibly good value, I pay either £10 or £12 for the month, depending on how much data I expect to use (£10 = 1GB, £12 = unlimited).

International calls are cheap and freephone calls are free.

Customer service is not automated as someone said, it's online, either via the forum or a direct "ask an agent" link that you can use.

Jumping on the CW bandwagon. Just ordered a 64 GB 5S grey. Says I can pick up in 2 days. Will cancel my Apple (October whenever) order.

I agree. I've been with them now for several years and it really pays off paying £10 or £12 a month. I will never go back to a contract at £35 or £40 a month. Keeping iPhones in good condition and selling just before a new release then adding £100-£150 on top for the latest works great for the wallet too...and best of all, no commitment!
