UK iPhone 5s and 5c Thread

I am thinking of jumping over to giffgaff from O2.
Can anyone recommend this?
Thanks.

Another vote for Giffgaf. Been with them for a year, about to sign my wife up as well. If you need a nano sim for an iPhone 5, let me know (or go onto the forums and contact one of the members there who'll mail you one - free)

They have been very good, all the customer service is by members who get points for being helpful so the response time is very fast!

Yes, extremely good value.

I took EE to CISAS when they increased contract prices in April and won at the adjudication and was allowed to terminate my contract and they were instructed to supply my PAC. I moved my number over to giffgaff as a temporary measure in May while I decided what to do.

I'm still there, I have found coverage and service as good as (or better) than EE in use. It's incredibly good value, I pay either £10 or £12 for the month, depending on how much data I expect to use (£10 = 1GB, £12 = unlimited).

International calls are cheap and freephone calls are free.

Customer service is not automated as someone said, it's online, either via the forum or a direct "ask an agent" link that you can use.

How did that work, did you have to pay any cancelation charge, the phone price or what? - They upped my £36 a month to £37.14 I am not happy can I do something about it or is it too late now? - The thing which peed me off the most was that they kept the price at £36 for new customers.

No, I refused the increase as the T&Cs allowed, they wouldn't take the termination so I opened a case with CISAS, it went to adjudication and I won. The Adjudicator ordered a penalty free termination backdated to the 9th of April (the day I received the letter notifying of the increase) and they had to give me a PAC number.

The right to cancel was only valid for 30 days after the notification is received, so you would be too late now.

I previously used Giffgaff in uni but the service went down twice when I was on it. There was a blackspot meaning I actually couldn't get a signal in some places.

I'm currently on O2 and the signal on the way home from work isn't too great. Hoping Three are better. :(

Giffgaff are a subsidiary of O2 thus use the same network so the signal is the same.

Yes, I know, which is why I was annoyed that when the network suffered, O2 customers got credit to spend in the stores and Giffgaff didn't give customers anything to compensate.
I didn't switch from Giffgaff for the signal, they just happened to have iPhone 4Ss in stock two years ago...

I didn't have a £550 deposit with them. I paid £169.99 up front, then today (3 days later), I called them again and paid off the remainder of the phone plan which was £360.

The different phone plans were:

1. Pay £0.00 up front, then 24 months x £25 a month - Total cost is £600.00
2. Pay £119.99 up front, then 24 months x £20 a month - Total cost is £599.99
3. Pay £169.99 up front, then 24 months x £15 a month - Total cost is £529.99
4. Pay £319.99 up front, then 24 months x £10 a month - Total cost is £559.99
5. Pay £600.00 up front, then 24 months x £0 a month - Total cost is £600.00

I went with option 3 as it was the cheapest one. You'd think the other credit agreements would be cheaper as you put more money up front.

They needed a 550£ deposit for some reason, and they were quoting 3-6 weeks for delivery.

Did the online chat thing with Apple today. Told me they had no plans to implement store pick up.

Store pick up would've been nice, but then again how would they be able to manage that, if there isnt enough stock in the uk yet (I'm going to assume that asking cpw for stock is out of the question :p ) ???

We're not america and I guess we should be happy that we re one of the first countries that get to 'pre'order

iPhone 5S 64GB Gold being delivered today from EE

I ordered my iPhone 5S 64GB Gold online from EE on Friday 20th Sep at 12:30.
I got test from EE yesterday that its being delivered today by UKMail.
Tracking reveals its at delivery office, delivery today between 10:30 to 14:30.

It doesn't matter what factories do, they said "business days", in the UK that is Monday to Friday.

Yup, they said 7-10 business days in the UK. They might actually mean 10-14 days including weekends, but they put it as business days for us. I'm sure those two-ish weekends are accounted for.

When did you order as mine arrived almost a week earlier than the delivery time.

I was in the same boat as you on this. Ordered my BTO rMBP 13 June, estimated delivery 12-18 July, actual delivery 3 July (though I'll admit I was probably pretty lucky with this),

Apple rather over- than underestimates their dispatch/delivery times.
Its always better to add a couple days and then have it delivered earlier to a customer , who'll be super happy about it, than stating an earlier delivery that shows up later.

Well let's hope we are lucky again with iP5S! Although I am already not feeling lucky :(
