Just back from the Glasgow Buchanan Street store, and the queue was absolutely shameful. It was full of guys with envelopes full of £50 notes, along with their wives (and kids in some cases) presumably to maximise the number of iPhones they could get. When they announced the 16GB models were sold out one guy went through the queue handing out £50 notes to certain people so they could buy 32GB and 64GB models.
There were only four people infront of me to get into the shop when they announced they were out of 32GB models. I stayed anyway, got put through to the inside queue and then a fight broke out! They were letting people into the Apple Store freely for non-iPhone purchases and some kid went in then tried to join the back of the inside iPhone queue and started fighting with the security guy when he was told to leave. The people in front of me decided to leave at that point, I guess maybe they knew the kid who was in trouble, which allowed me to pick up the last 32GB phone they had in stock 😀
Props to the staff and security people though. They did a good job getting rid of queue jumpers and such.
