This is where all the iPhone 5's were kept in the UK until they were released to the courier companies

Anyone know a good tactic to get some info out of them lol;)

Gave the Watford store a call and they said they haven't received any new stock yet.

Does anyone know about brent cross?

Glad another genuine customer managed to get one this morning. I felt like I was the only one in the queue. I managed to get what I am told was the last 64GB Gold. I have to give credit also to the stewards and Apple staff. It's clear they now know how to spot a genuine customer a mile away.

The staff looked exhausted by the whole thing to be honest.

A side note: another thing I am disgusted by is how difficult it is to get an appointment at the genius bar around the time of a new phone launch. I have been trying to get an appointment all week and there is nothing. Normally you get one within 48 hours. I have a genuine hardware issue with my iPhone 5, and I can't get seen because of the ridiculous number of people looking to get replacement handsets to sell online as 'new', in order to offset their upgrade cost! It's ridiculous; almost as big an issue as the scalpers themselves!

So I take it Glasgow is sold out again? I've got a silver one order online, but I'm talking myself into gold. I might call CS to ask if they can change my order, cause no doubt that the "Delivered OCtober" on Launchday is different to that "Delivered October" today. So are people just queuing up before the delivery times?

I unfortunately missed the initial ordering window and my 64GB Grey online order is stuck on Dispatched: October. From what I can see Carphone Warehouse are charging £709 - the exact same price as Apple, so apart from potentially having to pay an unlock price to get it on to 3, is there any downside to ordering it from CW? Or should I just go ahead and et my phone ASAP rather than waiting for ages?

You'll have to pay an unlock price regardless of the network. CPW phones will lock to the network of the first UK sim card inserted. The reason 3 is cropping up so much is that at the moment, they're the only network that will unlock your phone right away (though I believe there's also something you can do with an O2 refresh contract). If you're planning on getting a cpw phone, stick a 3 payg sim in it and get it unlocked that way. It costs £15.32 to unlock and for the users on her who've reported back (myself included) it took less than 24 hours :) Make sure it's payg though, if you use a contract sim, you have to wait 60 days before you can unlock.

Brent Cross is all out but I think Westfield White City might have some if you give them a call. My friend just picked up 2 from there for me, he said they had plenty of stock.

FINALLY GOT ONE from Westfield White City. This whole weekend has been stressful haha, all I've been doing is hunting for a 5s. Time to cancel my online order.

I think you misunderstand the CPW deal, the phone will arrived "unlocked" to any UK simcard, when you insert your simcard from any UK network it will then lock to that simcard.

So if you are buying to use on Three, as long as the Three card is the first inserted it will not need unlocking to work on Three.

Oh whoops thanks for clearing that up, I did misunderstand! That's even better then... so if I only want to use it on 3, there's no difference between me ordering through CW and Apple apart from that I'll receive it a lot quicker?

I had the same dilemma last year and wanted to change my mind on the colour. I tried speaking nicely to Apple CS, but was told it simply wasn't possible and they couldn't amend the order.

Awell... I'm far too manly to be able to pull off a gold one anyway! What's the situation in the Glasgow store then? Are people literally queung before there a phones in the shop? Waiting on a delivery? If I could get one in store, I could just cancel my online one.

Just spoken to our regular UPS driver at work, he has confirmed they will be delivering the new iPhones in the UK.

He also said that UPS have hired in more staff to deliver the iPhones (agency drivers) as they were expecting to be busy delivering them from launch day. They are not very happy because they were not told the shipments would be this late after launch day. He also said most UPS hubs now have too many staff than they need.

Have they been informed when the first batch will be shipping?

i was just about to ask the same :D

From what I can tell UPS are more in the dark than we are, the driver was wondering why they haven't been delivering many iPhones. He knew they went on sale on the 20th and that was it.

I think it is more likely that our iPhones will ship with UPS from China this time. My order states:

Dispatched: 7- 10 business days
Delivery: 07 Oct, 2013 - 10 Oct, 2013 by Standard Shipping

7-10 business days from 20 Sept is 30 Sept to 3rd Oct. If they shipped from the UK we would get them a day later, not a week later as Apple predict. A week for shipping surely means they are coming from China?

On the plus side, we can all waste lots of time trying to figure out which plane they are on

Got a 32GB space grey and 32GB white and Silver from Trinity Leeds at around 12:30pm, just arrived as a guy stole a 5s from the store. Now to cancel my 07-10 Oct delivery, which may help someone below me in the list.

Previous iPhone releases have also dispatched from China. I just think that the delivery estimates are wrong.

It doesn't take a week to ship from China anyway. Because of the time difference, they arrive at the destination only a few hours after they leave China. It is possible for items to be delivered the day after they leave China, but usually it is 2-3 days, not a week.

If the items do ship between 7-10 working days then I will be surprised if they aren't with us before the 7th of October, wherever they are coming from.

Some, but not all, iPhone launches have dispatched from China - the 4S was, however, dispatched from the UK. I can't remember about the 1st iPhone or the 3GS as I bought those instore (in the days before scalpers!)

The time difference works in favour of orders from China to the US as they jump back a day as they cross the dateline, but my previous Apple orders from China came the other way. But I agree 7 days is a rather pessimistic estimate of shipping time. Hopefully our orders will ship a bit early like most of the 1-3 day orders, and be with us 3-4 days later.

That's right. When it arrives just insert the Three sim and it will then lock and work with any Three UK simcard (but locked to other networks).

Three will unlock at a later date if you decide you want it done, for £15.32.

I still believe (knowing this from how many deliveries we get from china at my work) that at the latest we'll see our phones on the 5th of oct.(saturday next week), thats 1-3 business days earlier than the estimate.

There are 1.5 million people working at Foxconn, they can and will do it. Once they leave the factory it's gonna go really fast.

The time difference helps for us as well. It's about a twelve hour flight from China to London but flights usually land at a time around 5 hours after they left because of the time difference.

As a result, if the flight leaves China in the morning then it can feasibly be with the couriers for delivery the next morning. I believe that they usually leave later in the day though, but it gives plenty of time for shipment two days later.

Does anyone know what time the que started at arndale, manchester today & if anyone got hold of a gold 32gb from there?

Because I rang them at 9, got told they've got a delivery today, quickly got there, joined the que but got told that gold are all gone!

So do people just que there everyday or something because apple don't tell you a day before if they gonna get a delivery the next day, at least that's what I've been told!
