UK iPhone 5s and 5c Thread

How long did it take last time until stock levels were at a point where you could walk into a store and pick up no queuing? Also how long till deliveries went back to normal? Was it about November/December?

Not sure as have always got around launch date since 3GS. Also new iphone used to come out in May/June so stock did stabilise within a month or 2 but I imagine now with a September launch you might start running into issues of (very nice) people buying for Christmas presents come November.

when i placed my order online at 00.02 last week - my debit card was charged the £709 the very next day.

Previous purchases Apple have only debited the amount AFTER despatch.

That very weird ordered mine @ 12.01AM still no charged at all using visa debit card.

Are you sure it was charged or just a hold on the funds?

Apple do an authorisation, which essentially debits the amount of funds available to you in your bank account and holds it for a while until they ship and actually take the said funds. If they don't ship or you cancel the order, the hold drops off and you get the money back (not as a refund, just a restoration of the amount available to you).

Yup, just did my now almost daily check after work at 6pm, and the no stock sign was back up...

I'd think it very unlikely that someone who has never owned an iPhone and doesn't even have an Apple ID would be in line on launch day... thats proper fanboy territory!

Nothing but they'll need to have a debit/credit card attached.

Good observation. I had ordered the slate grey from apple at 00:02 and it immediately went to delivery from 7th Oct so was looking around today to get it quicker and saw that CPW had dropped the 50 quid premium. Well, I bought it there and then with delivery tomorrow as they have plenty of 32GB slate grey in stock.

It'll be a while. The 7-10 day orders are still on processing so it they've got to deal with them first.

Quick question: when I look on the CPH website, I can't really see a 'sim free' option. How would you order this one?

I know that it would lock to the network of the first SIM you insert. I am aware of that.

That's fine. It usually happens that way. When it's ready to ship the charge will hit again and stay there.

That's fine. It usually happens that way. When it's ready to ship the charge will hit again and stay there.

I ordered the gold one, hopefully they will do the same with that so I can try and get the extra £50 back. Do you know if they have charged my card, it means it has been dispatched?

They held the full amount on my American Express card, although the pending amount has now dropped off, so I don't expect to see it until it ships now.

Thats not quite true. Thats what Visa, MasterCard and American Express recommend (And Amex do for their own cards). Some card issuers will take money from your available balance/credit for upto 10 days (Natwest do this).

Try checking tracking on the US Apple Store website rather than the UK one, it tends to have earlier tracking info!

Iv had the exact same thing happen! Im an American Express customer, and they allow you to see Pending online whereas most other credit card providers dont.

Also, I placed two orders. One through Apple Store Business account (00:11) and the other personal (00:26). I did however use the same credit card for both.

The pending transaction that appeared was for for the personal one, which was placed much after the other. I wonder why the other first didnt have funds pre-authorised?! though I did have another £1 pre-authorised from Apple!

Both have disappeared from Pending now though my Available Balance still accounts for that pre-authorised order.

Yayyy at last some orders moving. Did you notice your order change to 'preparing for dispatch' or did it just go straight to dispatch?

Same, with Amex too, and have the £1 pending charge still there. Looks like we may see some movement to shipping over the next 24 hours or so!? Fingers crossed!
