Mine arrived today..... a week earlier than I'd originally been told.

----------

I was in the Regent Street store last night to get an issue with my 5 checked by the Geniuses (aside: fantastic service, got a replacement refurb handset even though my 5 is from launch and therefore out of warranty coverage with no AppleCare - thank you beardy hipster-ish Genius guy!). People still queueing with a staff member who was standing by a sign saying this is where to come if you have a phone reservation. Looks like it's still a way off from being able to walk in and buy one.

thats what you think, but under the EU warranty law that came in about 2011, all expensive electronic items are covered for 6 years

http://www.apple.com/uk/legal/statutory-warranty/

Of course no company will tell you unless you know about it...... All warranties are now 6 years in UK, 5 in scotland and 2 in the rest of the EU ;)

Yeah it does, now I finally have my phone! Sorry not trying to rub it in.

:mad: have you tried watching a movie/video on it yet? I'll be using mine to watch youtube mostly (replacing my iPad) and wondered whether the screen is big enough. Im using my iPhone 5s at the moment and find myself getting really close to the screen

I've even got people at work showing me their new iPhones now! this is hell! :(

Hi guys

I got my phone through mindnight reservation, pick it up on wednesday and only just now checked the screen for deal pixel and with my best of luck i have one ( kicking myself for not checking sooner), just wondering if i would need to book an apt for tomorrow or would i just be able to turn up.

Should be able just turn up. It's clearly faulty from purchase. If they give you a headache speak to store manager and explain its a few days old and you haven't got time for an appointment.

Apple stores do hold unit backs for faulty units.

UK iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Thread

iPhone 6 seems to have a bit of a pixel issue. I've had three. All with dead or stuck pixels. Now on my second 6+. First had the odd scratches around the home button reported elsewhere - no dead pixels though. The one I have now looks fine.

My phone was perfect straight out of the box.

No, that's not what the law says, and it isn't even under EU law. You've manged to confuse a few things. The EU brought out a Directive for time to claim on defective goods in the eu as being a minimum of 2 years.

The UK has never brought the EU Directive into law, because the UK already has a longer period set in law, namely the Sale of Goods Act (SoGA), what SoGA says, is that a consumer has redress to the courts for up to 6 years for faulty goods. Unfortunately the onus of proof for the fault falls on the buyer after 6 months, and the durability of the item is also considered by the court in any action. A mobile phone would never be considered as durable for 6 years.

Apple has just standardised at 2 years across the EU, and only if they were the retailer, if you buy an iPhone (or other Apple product) at another retailer you will normally be referred to that retailer if a problem occurs as under SoGA the retailer is liable, NOT the manufacturer.

Here is Martin Lewis of MoneySavingExpert.com's blog post about the EU warranty myth:

Listed as "myth 3" on this list of consumer myths:

That information is incorrect and seriously misleading. In the UK you have up to six years to make a claim under the SOGA - whether you will be successful in a claim depends on a number of factors. To suggest that "all warranties are now 6 years in UK..." shows a complete misunderstanding of the law (see below)

Customers' rights last for six years

The law says that a customer can approach you with a claim about an item they purchased from you for up to six years from the date of sale (five years after discovery of the problem in Scotland).

This does not mean that everything you sell has to last six years from the date of purchase! It is the time limit for the customer to make a claim about an item. During this period, you are legally required to deal with a customer who claims that their item does not conform to contract (is faulty ) and you must decide what would be the reasonable amount of time to expect the goods to last. A customer cannot hold you responsible for fair wear and tear .

The six-year period is not the same as a guarantee, but it does mean that even where the guarantee or warranty supplied with the product has ended, your customer may still have legal rights.

My replacement iP6+ has arrived - no dead pixels (on the first check, and 5 more afterwards :roll eyes: ).

But I had to go back to work, so the main fun won't happen until tomorrow... Unless I will cancel my night out  Hmm!

I have a work meeting in Covent Garden at 4 and a reservation at the CG store between 3 and 4.

I can't be late for the meeting as it's a very important client.

Just wondering what lines and waiting times are like. Is it a case of walk in immediately, pay and leave or will I be waiting a while?

In and out in 10mins. Even had time for a pre-meeting pint after rocking up at 15past.

Hard to do that when you don't know when it'll be here lol!! I keep looking though

lol I'm having a stab at Tuesday if i remember it should end in germany then its usually 48 hrs could I be wrong though but I could also be right :D

My phone is in Dubai now (from Shenzhen then Hong Kong).

Anyone who has had an iPhone delivered already from Apple UK had the same path thus far? What route did it take? Just wondering how many more stops it'll be until it is at least in the UK

yeh I'm finding it funny! I like the way apple came out to say only 9 people complained too haha. Although the iPhone 4s was stainless steel I think apple will be sticking with aluminium until they can get liquid metal perfected

It says estimated delivery Tuesday by end of day on time ... Hoping for Monday though! Also how do you know if you have a dead pixel?

Next stop will be Cologne (Germany) and then to Stansted or East Midlands depending on where you are in the country. Its usually out for delivery the same day it arrives at one of these airports. Not sure if they are still doing Saturday deliveries tho.
