How can these phones being produced in August when iOS 9 was not yet ready than?
Just because they were manufactured in August doesn't necessarily mean they were boxed up and ready to go in August. They could have just been lying around waiting a couple of weeks for the final iOS 9 build and then imaged and packaged.

We don't have an official Apple store in Nottingham, but we do have the brilliant KRCS, and they sell iPhones. As good as an official store, plus a great warranty repairs department (Apple themselves use them). Seems they've been opening iPhone to resellers recently, with even John Lewis now selling them.

I had a nightmare with them repairs wise. Took a MacBook Pro in and it went away for 21 days and had a different fault when they gave it to me, so it went away again and came back with a fault with the Logic board (this was replaced on the first repair). They also claimed to have replaced the WiFi card which can't be true as the MAC address hadn't changed. In the end Apple refunded me for the MacBook Pro as it had gone 35 days and was still not fixed.

I'd rather take a train to Sheffield or Leicester to sort a repair now rather than take a 15 min journey to them.

I've been thinking the same thing. How do they install iOS 9 on that many devices. It's crazy if you think about it. I think they would have had a solid build of iOS 9 installed on them for the past couple weeks. Guessing if they have noticed any major bugs they will just quickly push out iOS 9.0.1

Well, I know, that is not a base for comparison, but I visited a samsung factory a couple of years ago, and their assembly line is end-to-end, so all the phones came out fully boxed and sealed.
It can be a pain to handle unboxed handsets and upload the firmware in the second step instead of a much faster one stop shop way.

What I would like to know is are these iPhones running the gm release from last week or the newer build released to the public this week?

My phone has not been allowcated yet, Maybe because I techically ordered on 13/9 for my Gold 64gb 6s after switching my order from the plus I made on the morning of 12/9 but I could expect a similar result to yours. I can only know when it does show up on my account.

Anyone live in or around Gloucester? It must be the only City in the UK with no Apple Store and it drives me nuts! Have to drive all the way to Bristol :(

Live in Hereford. We have a partner store but not the same. Nearest I think is Birmingham.

What gets me is we have a shop for every network and none bat Three have any advertising for the new iPhone and they only put it up this week! And I am still getting emails about pre-ordering still available from them.

It is rather a pathetic launch. But HTC and Galaxy phones have lots of coverage. I can only think that is profit margins on sales and those phones need the hadder sell.

I have been talking lately with a sales assistant at Carphone Warehouse who is going away for training on the 6S ahead of the release and he told me that last year they had around 45 thousand pre-orders and did not have enough stock on launch day the phones sell themselves. Where as the Nokia / Wi dows phones need like £150 cash back to sell at all.

All I know is the more I see tariffs and lack of interest from retailers the more I am glad I ordered direct.

I know! There's Bath, Bristol and Birmingham. All of which take at least 45 minutes. I suppose it might be because there are the premium reseller shops (although they don't sell iPhones), they see less of a need... I always find it a bit awkward in those shops though, there's often just me in there with 3 shop assistants watching my every move!
It is why I hate going in our one as it is so awkward. I am same anywhere hate being the only one in a shop.

I'm in the vicinity too; it's usually Bristol or Cardiff for me.

I've got a preparing to ship update on my 6s Plus but no sign of a phone in my support profile yet and the blurb says 'Delivery: 25/9 in most areas by Standard Shipping' which is a tad vague for my tastes! :)

Same I ordered 13 days ago still not turned up, mines coming through Royal Mail signed for.
I had two show up about Wednesday the other I ordered 10 mins after the others went to posted status yesterday. I aint bothered for 99p As long as they arrived before the phone.

Need your opinion guys .. Pre ordered with Apple given an estimate of 9th - 16th which is fair enough. Do I on the other hand also pre order with Vodafone which I'm currently with and pick it up on the 8th or do I just turn up to one of their stores on release day and see if they have any spare phones to sell to me ? Decisions decision.

Pre-order may be beyond cancel now so will be a return but I would say try the store on launch. There is so little advertising I cantsee there being many at stores on launch day and I always remember Vodafone get the least que of all.
