Yes but usually still worth the fee than taking on finance or a non 0% card. I should really save in advance for next year!! I do that for a lot of things - easy with online banking to open lots of little 'sub' savings accounts.

Totally. I'd hate to think people would pay interest on a credit card to finance the purchase of a phone

I've personally never seen the need for a dock.

The only annoyance I have is the plug point, at home and work, are underneath my desk, and if charging and the phone is on my desk, the cable , being the angle it is to get to the plug point, will break over time.

This is why I really really need to invest in a decent 'rugged' cable as the Apple supplied ones are crap and I never use them. I have the Amazon Basics one which is actually very good and has lasted me over a year no probs.

Me too, the apple ones are absolutely horrendous.

If you are with ee and at the end of your sim only contract you might be able to get

2000 mins
unlimited texts
5GB 4G for £11.99 (12 months contract)

They wont offer it to you straight away, someone from Retention's (UK) will give you a call back and offer you this. There was a thread on the HotUKdeals website that i followed to get this deal.

a very good price. My sim only 2Gb data unlim text and calls is due to end in about 3 months. I really want more data and ideally want to stay with EE as their data is by far the fastest!

I have had a Samsung Note 4 for the past year. Longest I ever stuck with android, but its time to go back , and no time like the present :)
I'm literally torn between getting a iPhone 6s plus and a galaxy 6 edge. I've currently got a S5 and a friend has just bought the S6 edge and it's got a stunning design and the screen resolution has to be one of tge best out there at the moment.

I've played around with the iPhone 6 in store and I just think it's just not practical for me day to day bcos of its size. I honestly believe that if the iPhone 6s had a better screen resolution I wouldn't really be debating this but I can't go for the iphone 6s as I think it would be a downgrade both in terms of screen quality and camera quality compared to the S6 edge.

Got some more pondering left to do I guess!

I understand your predicament.

The Note 4 is a brilliant phone but I find I dont use its advanced functions as much as I should (stylus etc) but it has plenty of annoyances too. I wont bore everyone in this thread with those. Will leave that for another day, another thread :)

Cheers! Am happy to get another 12 month contract but on reflection am completely prepared to move to Three if they don't reduce my monthly. Am paying around £16 per a month right now. Would be happy to reduce by a fiver and put that towards my monthly payment for the 6s on my card.

Anyone buying a dock?

At £39 its not that cheap. I have a standard plastic one that I don't use much its easter just to plug the cable in

I presume even the Apple branded case still have to come off the phone to use? If could use with case I'd be more tempted.

I'll reserve judgement and might pick one up later at the Apple Store but not going to add anything to this order for fear of slowing down delivery.

iOS and android both have their pros and cons. Never been an apple or Android basher as everyone's needs and expectations are different. For me the big positive about samsung at the moment is that they have definitely taken a leaf out of apples book and stepped up the build and design quality of their flag ship devices.

Am I right in thinking that the 6S has less individual manufactured regional models than previous iPhones? As they cover more LTE bands etc?

The reason I ask, is that I'm about to move to Canada for at least six months. Looking at the LTE band differences on previous phones, it looked like a UK iPhone was not compatible with Canadian networks. Having looked on the UK Apple store, Canadian Apple store and US Apple store, they seem to list the same regional model. So does that mean they are more universal for network coverage worldwide?

Thanks

I think my post may have got lost, so I just wanted to see if anyone knew about this?
Cheers

Use the iPhone Lightning Dock to charge and sync any iPhone with a Lightning connector. Your iPhone sits upright in the dock as it syncs or charges, so it’s perfect for a desk or worktop. Even when your iPhone is in an Apple-designed case, it’s easy to dock. And you can unlock iPhone or use Touch ID without having to remove it from the dock. The iPhone Lightning Dock also features an audio port, so you can use headphones or connect your iPhone to powered speakers while it’s charging.

So no case removal needed if it's the official case

I've had a look and it (seemingly) appears the new iPhones support LTE bands in all three countries as you've found yourself.

It has 23 of them now (3 more than the 6/6+) and with the addition of LTE-A I'm guessing the chip has been upgraded to reduce the amount of different regional models needed.

None of the networks have announced their tariffs yet have they?

Whats the best SIM only deal just now? I hear good things about 3 and Giffgaff. Only really interested in a good amount of data with it.

Just been having a quick look again on Envirofone and shocked to see that EE/T-Mobile/Orange have such a penalty on trade in over other networks!

Was looking at price for a 16gb 5c (in case hubby wanted to try to upgrade early). We could get £96 unlocked but only £31 as locked to EE! O2 would £80, Vodafone is £90 and Three is £86.

Are EE locked phones harder or more expensive to unlock?

If I hadn't already decided to stick with sim free and outright purchase this would have certainly changed my mind.

I guess if locked to these networks you might be better selling on eBay to people who don't mind it being locked to EE......

Only way to be is check with the Canadian service providers and see what bands they use and compare to what the 6s supports

Canadian Operators and their respective LTE bands: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks#Americas

Supported 6s/6s Plus bands:

Model A1633*

Model A1634*

LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30)

TD-LTE (Bands 38, 39, 40, 41)

TD-SCDMA 1900 (F), 2000 (A)

UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz)

GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)

Model A1688*

Model A1687*

LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29)

TD-LTE (Bands 38, 39, 40, 41)

TD-SCDMA 1900 (F), 2000 (A)

CDMA EV-DO Rev. A (800, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz)

UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz)

GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)

So it appears they use bands 2/4/7/12/17/38 (dependant on carrier)

Someone I know has ordered the 3rd Gen Motorola G. He's going to whack Three's SIMO £17 plan in it; 200 minutes, Unlimited Texts and Data.

See: http://www.three.co.uk/Store/SIM/Plans_for_phones (that plan includes 4GB of 'Personal Hotspot' per month).

Bear in mind Three now use RPI to increase the tariff each year.

Anyone contemplating upping the storage size on the model you're looking to purchase. Seeing initial reports show the live photos take up twice as much storage and 4k video will swallow MBs of storage I'm not sure if I should go for a 128gb.

What were the revised UK prices for iCloud now?

If I carry on my trial subscription with Apple music the need to store any music on the phone goes away so might have some more room to play with on a 64gb

What are peoples opinions on screen protectors? Are different makes better than others? Never had one and saw that quite a few people are getting one. Spigen have put a new one on Amazon for £9.99. It actually curves around the screen which looks pretty cool. Do they feel much different to touching the screen on the phone normally?

Here is the link if you want to check it out. It is released 21st September.

Am going 128gb for sure. My 64gb is full. I do need to delete a huge amount of photos which I will aim to do before I send my 5s awy plus I'll see how I get on with Apple Music and iCloud this year and if I feel it was too much I can go for a 64gb next year.
