Glad to be home and finally able to open up my 6s :D. Shame iCloud's servers seem to be going a bit slow atm, wouldn't expect otherwise though.

Did you get one?
Yup!

Cafe had closed though so no latte. :-(

Mine arrived at 10.30 am but the JL order did not arrive and was told Apple had not let them have them and should be there tomorrow

Sorry your JL one didn't arrive. I did click and collect - was supposed to be there at two but got an email saying it would be late. By the time I'd finished work the email had arrived to say it was ready.

So small after using a Nexus 6 but nice to be back with an iPhone. One major downside - it's so delicate after the N6. That thing is an indestructible tank of a phone.

My phone was delivered at 11:30 but since I was at work I've not had the chance to sit with it and play about. Until now.

I'm absolutely DELIGHTED with it. It really is beautiful. I thought the 6s Plus model might be a little bit too big for me since I'm coming from a 5s but so far so good!

This might sound silly but I love having a bigger keyboard, I was had a habit of hitting the wrong keys on my other iPhones, I don't have fat fingers either! But this keyboard is the right size for me and typing has been smooth and without as many errors. I absolutely love having the bigger screen now too, especially since I read a lot on news articles so it's easier on my eyes.

I'm impressed at how fast this phone is too. Fsntastic. Going to take a bit of getting used to the 3D Touch and new home button. Happy with the weight of the phone too, (I liked the weight of the 4s), I don't feel like this is going to fly out my hands!

My only little, tiny complaint is, I thought the wallpapers moved on the lock screen, I didn't realise that was 3D Touch also. Anyway, but the end of the world I may have picked up on something incorrectly.

Haven't had the chance to test out the cameras. It'll be interesting to see how I get on taking photos with a bigger handset.

Got myself a temporary case until i find something I really like. Got a feeling I'll end up with an official Apple case...

Same here in upgrading from a 5s to a 6s Plus, absolutely loving it. I'm getting the occasional hang when unlocked but guessing this is down to indexing. I agree that the bigger sized keyboard is great to type on and definitely a big improvement, and for those saying 3D Touch is a gimmick, have you tried using the keyboard as a trackpad to move the cursor? Makes it so much easier to fix typos and I'm really impressed with that. Can't wait to see how 3D Touch get's expanded upon as developers make use of the api, has real potential.

Not quite sure on the complaints of it being too heavy, it's almost double the 5s yet feels about right to me. Been using it all evening and not finding it tiring to hold. Touch ID works so much better now, can't believe how much more responsive it feels.

I'm extremely happy with my upgrade and not disappointed one bit. Looking forward to testing 4K video recording out.

Any updates on John Lewis lock to first sim issue please
It says about it locking to sim on the bottom of the product page on the JL site. Same with Carphone Warehouse.

Edited out wrong info.

I'm going to calibrate my battery now and what better app is there to use other than Geekbench 3.

My stats: Single Core 2538, Multi 4407, 1.85GHz, 1.96GB RAM, But everyone else would of got similar results.

Let's find out how long it drains a 100% battery.

A shame we have to pay 79p for this app compared to being FREE on Android.

Not true, it only applies to CarPhoneWarehouse and John Lewis stock.

Unlocked from Three and Giffgaff are unlocked just like from Apple.

Anyone else struggling with iCloud backup?

Seems to get to the end and just give up "Last backup could not be completed". Think it managed to do the initial backup, but just wanted to do a manual one now and it keeps failing...

So for some reason after restoring for back up and downloading 9.0.1 it wanted me to set up all over again like hey Siri etc. Is that normal?

I think I've already made my mind up and will be downsizing from the + to the 6.

As much as I want the better battery life and ois.. My usage dictates I need 1 handed use above all.

Going to try for a reservation at 6am and see if I can get one soon.

How do you calibrate the battery?

Gave up with icloud backup restored to new phone and all working great. Pain downloading apps but this is what we do!

Anyone else having issues with Apple Pay with more than one card set up? I managed to crash the card reader in a UK Waitrose today. Also seems very slow on the Tube. Maybe I'm not using it right?

Initial impressions after a few hours playing with the 6s Plus:

The great:
  • Touch ID is incredibly fast and accurate and is a massively underrated upgrade. I honestly would consider it worth the upgrade if it were the only new feature. Always had troubles with Touch ID in the past
  • The Retina Flash is amazing for selfies in the dark, you'd think it were a proper LED flash
  • 3D Touch is great but will take a while to adjust to. I think peek required too much force*, and pop requires too little additional force
  • The new cameras are simply awesome improvements
  • The A9 is an engineering marvel, outpacing a MacBook in single core, and it shows through zero lag in the UI
  • The sensors seem more responsive: orientation changes much faster than before
  • I think the speaker is louder and clearer
The good:
  • Rose gold is lush. I actually wish it were slightly more pink
  • Live photos are a great idea but in practice only adds value to a small percentage of photos
  • The weight increase is noticeable but actually pleasant: it makes it feel more solid
  • Haptic feedback works great with 3D Touch but I wish it was a more pronounced feedback
The bad:
  • Motion wallpapers are a bit of a waste of time, they should animate automatically like on the watch
  • Setup process still not streamlined**. Restoring from a backup, syncing and setting up iCloud, iMessage, iTunes Store, Apple Pay, Apple Watch, iCloud Keychain is always a massive pain in the arse. If this could all be combined into a single config file with one single password and SMS/device verification that would be nice.
  • Where's the black glass option for gold and rose gold?
  • Why the hell can't I 3D Touch the "Messages (1)" on the top right of the messages app to reply to that unread message?!

Overall I'm very, very impressed.

*I know you can adjust the amount of force required in settings, but I'm talking more about relative force between peek and pop, which can't be changed
**I know this is more iOS rather than 6s specific, but thought it was worth the rant :p

How does the battery test work?

I fell asleep 30 minutes before my delivery slot (11.00am) ...I work nights... Slept right through the doorbell. :(

redelivery is tomorr ...Today. :)

You really don't need to do that. Draining Li-ion batteries actually shortens their lifespan. Some people actually do this monthly! They're idiots.
I have to agree with you never ever drain Li-ion batteries to 0%.

My old iPhone 6+ coming to one year old next week with around 150 charge cycles still showing 2800mh 98% health I always charge it under 20%.

The only way to completely drain an Apple battery is to run it out, then leave it unplugged for a day or so, otherwise it never gets totally flat even when it powers down! check this by pressing the power button after it switches off and you'll see the flat battery symbol - powered by the battery. ;)
