Surprised with all the negative comments about envirofone, always had hassle free transactions with them myself! Suppose it's not the same for everyone...

A few days in now and I'm still happy with the phone. Battery life (in my unscientific "just use it as normal and see where it is by bedtime" test) seems comparable to my 6: MacMandy, there's definitely something awry with yours, let us know how you get on after the restore.

Still have a touch of unlock lag but it's barely noticeable since I did a restore and set up as new: I can only really notice it now if I deliberately look for it (e.g. unlock with Touch ID, immediately try to swipe to next home screen). When I restored via iTunes it said there was an updated version of the software available even though I'd previously updated OTA to 9.0.1, so I'm guessing something went wrong during the upgrade process. Pretty sure the remaining lag is a software issue, probably get fixed in 9.1 or 9.1.1.

Only thing I'm seeing that is a bit odd is that for an equivalent volume setting the keyboard / lock sounds (and to a lesser extent the speaker overall) are noticeably quieter than on my 6 (and my work 5C / wife's 5S). I've not extensively tested this to see if it's the same in every app as it's not a big issue and the speaker seems otherwise fine, I guess they are probably using a different audio chip. Be interested to hear if anyone else has noticed this.

Me too I've never had any issues. I only wished they payed a bit more, even with the promo code applied!

I just wanted to run something by you guys. I'm thinking that I might want to swap my silver 6S plus for a gold 6S plus in the same capacity. I'm still within the 14 days so I know this isn't a problem. I've found a 128Gb 6 S plus in gold at Covent Garden and I've made a reservation for later on this afternoon. Would it be possible to just go in for my reservation and do the exchange or does it need to be done from walk in stock?

I've got my reciept. I bought my 6S plus from the Kingston Apple Store but I want to do the exchange at the Covent Garden store will this be ok?

I'm going to call the store before I leave but just wondered if anyone had any experience with this.
I've had an answer from John Lewis about the whole "locks to first sim" issue. They have confirmed in writing that it does lock to the first sim like CarPhoneWarehouse does.

does anyone understand the purpose of these stores locking the phone to the first SIM used?? Apple must manufacture these phone for these stores so they automatically lock???

I've only installed a handful of apps since the fresh start and I left it plugged in for a couple of hours after 100% so it could do any stuff. Unplugged it around 11am and it's all nice and cool. One thing for the 6s, it charges a damn sight faster than my 6plus, and I'm using the same 10w iPad charger.

I'm using it normally, but not installing any more apps. Background refresh off except for BBC news and dark sky. Hey Siri is off, but my Apple Watch is paired. So a sensible usage scenario methinks.

I'll report in after lunch. I have a genius appt on Saturday lunch time that I will cancel if things sort themselves out. I'm just worried that if it needs swapping, they won't have my 64Gb RG 6s in stock as I've been trying to reserve one at either of the 2 Manchester stores since yesterday afternoon.

They have stock in for warranty swaps etc that isn't part of their retail infantry.

Oh ok, I just thought it would be a fresh swap within 14 days, not a refurb brown box.
If you have problems with your phone then it will be a 'refurb', though obviously they are new units and not refrubished units at this stage. If you are swapping for a different model or colour then you will obviously just be exchanging it for another retail model.

The original excuse given by CPW when they started doing it (with the iPhone 4 iirc) was it allowed them to have one stock for all purposes, so if they sell it on contract they put the sim in and lock it, nowadays with other networks and retailers selling properly unlocked iPhones there is no excuse for it.

I know most have been discussing battery issues on the 6s but thought I'd post this as a comparison for a 6a plus as it was near the same % as the last post

I finally have my 6s! It's so shiny and fast and gold! :)

Am looking for a case now though. I love Spigen's - and as maybe the only person in the world who doesn't like the gel/TPU cases I've gone for old-fashioned, hard but thin crystal clear plastic.

I am based in the UK, does anyone know how long Apple holds a reserved phone? It is pick up on the same day or can you reserve to collect in a few days time?
