Not going to trust Royal Mail anymore with high value parcels, ordered iPhone 6s 64GB Space Grey from very.co.uk last Friday morning, it was dispatched Friday evening Special Delivery Next Day Guaranteed with a delivery due by Saturday 26/9 and did not turn up, so contacted very after it had still not been delivered by Tuesday 29/9 to get the tracking number to contact Royal Mail, which I did. Then Royal Mail said they have no record if it being scanned, went back to very and told them what Royal Mail said so they contacted Royal Mail to find out what happened and found out it went "missing" (I presume STOLEN), so they rang me back after speaking to Royal Mail and told me this and re ordered a replacement ( as well as very accidentally ordering 2 iPhones which I had to ring them back to cancel the second order) which is not due until October 20th (hopefully comes sooner). Hopefully very avoid using Royal Mail when the replacement is sent

I didn't even know they used Royal Mail everything iv had from Very has been Yodel

Wow the exact same thing happened to me. I could have wrote that exact same post.
Even the particular model iPhone and despatch days etc are all the same.

Has anybody here not got insurance or a warranty?

I'm still unsure of what to do. iPhone 5 lasted over 3 years without one, but was compact enough to take a hit.

I bought the 6s+ outright and have a £17/pm contract with 3, so thinking about adding on another £9.50/pm with Barclays doesn't make me happy.

Just get it. It's better to be safe than sorry be honest.

With insurance if you damage your phone you'll only have to pay an excess of £50-80. With no insurance it will cost you like £100-200+ (depending on the model)

Advice: NEVER go to a third party to fix your screen. ALWAYS go to a official one. My other half went to a third party way back when she had a 3GS and the third party did not use the right glass to replace the damage. It was so thick that it didn't register finger touches and if it did, it was so poor.

But then there's the case of insurance vs Applecare+...

Insurance covers theft / loss, Applecare+ doesn't.

Applecare has certainly saved my Mac in the past. I'm not sure I trust insurance through the bank to be honest, as they would send it somewhere to be repaired themselves somewhere.

I have my iPhone insured through my bank.
I think if I could get it repaired at Apple and reimbursed then I would do the same, but it looks like Barclays don't do that. I've also read claims taking ages, so I'm leading towards Applecare+ now. I'll bite the bullet in the next week.

Luckily my bank already covers theft and accidental lost and when I purchased my new 6S+ with O2, it gave me the accidental damages insurance lol

So I think I'm covered.

Re insurance vs AppleCare, you could always put £20 a month in your savings account and then if after a year you haven't needed it you have £240 saved.

Personally I don't bother with either , if it gets stolen or damaged I'll just take the hit.

For those who have had Apple Express replacements on their new devices via the Genius Bar or postal replacement. Can you confirm if your device model now starts with M or N in General>About>Model.

I know at this stage all replacements will be new but I'm wondering whether Apple is still registering the devices as N's = refurb stock.

whats the best company for insurance for an iPhone 6s 64gb?

I have heard horror stories about barclays mobile insurance so want to avoid them. Vodafone charge £15 a month for insurance......

Yeah I think I'll just get Applecare+. Hopefully will never need it but helps with resell value too I guess.

I think in your case you are blaming the wrong person, if it was never scanned into the RM system then it went missing while still at Very as the first scan happens in the Very warehouse when the parcels are handed over to RM. If it didn't even get into the RM lorry that collects then it isn't really possible for someone at RM to steal it.

I got free insurance this year with O2, however previously I have never bothered.

I never bothered with AppleCare+ either the cost of AppleCare + the excess means I will be spending more on a screen replacement than I would be if I just walked into the genius bar.

That's a good point. I wonder if the cost to replace a screen will be more expensive with 3D touch.

Have had iPads from them using Royal Mail

Very said on an email said it was in a Royal Mail depot so not sure where it was when it was declared missing and it could've been stolen at either or got misplaced somewhere and not been scanned or loaded
