That's a good point. I wonder if the cost to replace a screen will be more expensive with 3D touch.
It definitely will.

Update:
iPhone 6s Plus: £126.44
iPhone 6s, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5: £106.44
iPhone 6: £86.44

I think it is £109 plus an excess of £79 and a screen is what £130 these days?
It's £106 for a new 6s screen. So if you are the type of person who does break their screen it's actually cheaper to just pay each time than to use apple care.

Let's say you use your 2 ac+ replacements because you keep breaking your screen. That's a total cost of £267. But if you don't have it and just pay the total is £216.

Or one screen replacement.
AC+ = £188
Just paying =£108

So its only worth it if you are the type who destroys their phone or drops it down the toilet. Its more expensive if your just the screen smashing type.

Sure. It gives you software support too but who has honestly ever used that?

I put £20 per month away for my iPhone and iPad fund to use on repair & upgrading. I've been very careful with them and never needed a repair, so the money was used to upgrade each one alternate years.

This is the best way. If you need the money for repairs. Its there. If not, then you have a little fund for your new iPhone.

Someone just posted this nice analysis on another thread. Dollars but the values hold true for £ too.

No buying what your selling bud..... Its only 129 bucks crazy not to buy it
What does that 130 bucks get you? Do the math man, for some common scenarios. Look for yourself, it's crazy to buy it.

Here are some example scenarios that compare the costs for an iPhone 6s below. You can see that buying AC+ is a loosing proposition in most common scenarios. And even when buying AC+ is better, the savings aren't that high.

1. Nothing bad happens. This is fairly common.
A. If you bought AC+, you are at net -$130.
B. If you didn't buy AC+, you are at net $0.
Advantage: Not buying AC+, for a savings of $130.

2. You break the screen once. This is the most common.
A. If you bought AC+, you are at net -$230 ($130 for AC+, plus $100 service fee).
B. If you didn't buy AC+, you are at a net -$130 (fee for Apple replacing the screen out of warranty).
Advantage: Not buying AC+, for a savings of $100.

3. You break the screen twice. This is uncommon.
A. If you bought AC+, you are at net -$330 ($130 for AC+, plus $100 service fee twice).
B. If you didn't buy AC+, you are at a net -$260 ( $130 fee for Apple replacing the screen out of warranty twice).
Advantage: Not buying AC+, for a savings of $70.

4. You break the entire phone once. This is very uncommon.
A. If you bought AC+, you are at net -$230 ($130 for AC+, plus $100 service fee).
B. If you didn't buy AC+, you are at a net -$300 (fee for Apple replacing entire phone out of warranty).
Advantage: Buying AC+, for a savings of $70.

5. You break the screen once, and the entire phone once. This is very uncommon, and you're clearly better off investing in a big hulking case rather than AC+ at this point.
A. If you bought AC+, you are at net -$330 ($130 for AC+, plus $100 service fee twice).
B. If you didn't buy AC+, you are at a net -$430 ( $130 fee for Apple replacing the screen out of warranty and $300 fee fee for Apple replacing entire phone out of warranty).
Advantage: Buying AC+, for a savings of $100.

Unfortunately im going to return my 6s Plus. I have used it for the last week and cannot see how Apple can justify the £800 price tag. The camera is OK...A friend has the note 4 and screen and camera on that can blow the 6s Plus out of the water.
I really wanted to like this phone but along with other issues i cannot justify keeping it.

Very said on an email said it was in a Royal Mail depot so not sure where it was when it was declared missing and it could've been stolen at either or got misplaced somewhere and not been scanned or loaded

Did you get the tracking number from Very? You can track where the parcel went into the system (if it did, or not).

It isn't.

It's £106 for a new 6s screen.

It's actually £99 in an Apple Store, £7.44 of the online price is actually postage.

I have the 6S Plus, so it works out about £119. I also had it as a question not facts as I wasn't sure. The point I was trying to make is that I didn't see the worth in AppleCare + for the iPhone

I love my 6S+.

I had a 6+ on launch day last year, but returned it for a 6, because (for me) the leap in size was too big going from a 5S to a 6+.

This year however, I decided to try the + and haven't regretted it one bit.

This size jump this time is negligible and I love the screen size.

Best phone I've ever had?

I think it could well be.

You'd soon change your mind if you dropped it and smashed the screen badly enough that it couldn't be replaced and you needed a new phone.

As always it's risk vs reward.

You take the risk of not buying Applecare and if you have no issues you feel like you've had a result.

You take the risk of not buying Applecare and damage the phone so you need a new one and you feel absolutely gutted that you didn't spend (a mere) £109, because you now have to stump up £699.

I was seriously thinking about the + now as I've got used to the 6 size but I didn't think I could get on one handed in bed or be comfortable in my pocket. Plus the only people I've seen with a + are the ladies who can put it in their cavernous handbags.

I obviously can't speak for you, but I think you'd be pleasantly surprised at how easy the transition is.

I haven't got huge hands and can happily use the phone one handed while I'm walking the dog! :D

You've got nothing to lose by getting one, as if (like me) you decide it's too big for you, you can easily return it within 14 days.

I have been using iPhones for a good while now, the money I have saved in not buying AppleCare would be worth a new iPhone.

I have cracked 1 screen in that time

That's great and I completely understand your point, however, do you have £700 lying around to drop on a new phone should the unthinkable happen?

That's more of a generic question really, aimed at the populous that don't take AC+ and say they have 'saved' £700 by not buying it.

For me, it's peace of mind. If I smash my phone, or submerge it, I like to know that a replacement is only a Genuis Bar and an excess away. I'm self employed, so I can't be sending it away for repair via some 3rd party, to get it back 10 days later.

The other thing that worries me about these bank/gadget insurances, is what happens once you receive it 'repaired' and you have a defect further down the line and Apple turn round and say "Sorry, but because it's been repaired by a 3rd party, we can't cover this (expensive repair) under warranty"?

Then what? You've got insurance and you still have to fork out for a repair or a new phone?

No thanks, I'm all about minimising potential problems in my life, so that I can get on and work and enjoy my life and AC+ does that just fine.

I don't want to be worrying about what the genius will say when I take my 3rd party repair phone in and have to fork out £700 for a replacement on Xmas eve...

How long would it take to get it repaired and returned to you?

And would your Apple warranty still be valid, in the event of any future problems?

From the sounds not long

I can't imagine it would affect warranty but the excess is less with the bank then with Apple care
