You'd soon change your mind if you dropped it and smashed the screen badly enough that it couldn't be replaced and you needed a new phone.

As always it's risk vs reward.

You take the risk of not buying Applecare and if you have no issues you feel like you've had a result.

You take the risk of not buying Applecare and damage the phone so you need a new one and you feel absolutely gutted that you didn't spend (a mere) £109, because you now have to stump up £699.

Apple would replace a 6S+ handset for £249 as an out of warranty repair so you wouldn't have to stump up £699.

From the sounds not long

I can't imagine it would affect warranty but the excess is less with the bank then with Apple care
It's less because you're getting less of a service.

I'm not prepared to:

  • Send my phone away to a 3rd party and run the risk of invalidating my Apple warranty.
  • Be without it for 2 weeks (I'm counting in the initial time to get the claim approved).
All for the sake of saving a few £s.

The News app has appeared on my iPhone 6S+! Weirdly, it wasn't there straight away, but I reset the phone as an app had frozen whilst being downloaded, and low and behold there it is! Not complaining!

So a saving of £61 if you had Applecare+ if that was to happen, again for some people I am sure the peace of mind is worth it, not for me to be honest

Had an email from very this afternoon apologising for the whole mess that happened and they sent a new tracking number which is a Royal Mail tracking number, and says please allow up to 5 days for it to appear on their network. Guess this means it is dispatching soon as it has a tracking number. Hopefully this time it comes without any problems

Update - it just vanished! I had set it all up and read a few stories. I then locked the phone. When I opened it, it vanished before my eyes! Not making this up I promise!!

Haha yeah I had it yesterday and it's gone now too.

I've had it for a few days now although not used it since it was officially released here. I did give it a go before by changing my region to the US when I had my 6 Plus. I may have a look at it again and see if it's worth bothering with.

You may find it won't hang around...it's not officially released until 9.1.

Yaay!! Victory :)

So here's the story.... I live in Nottingham and we don't have an Apple Store. Since I'm here (in the UK) only for a few days, I don't have the luxury of ordering online or making reservations so I took an early train to the nearest Apple store in Leicester this morning hoping to get lucky and find a 64GB Space grey 6S+. Unfortunately I was anything but lucky. Returned to Nottingham where it was suggested to me to check KRCS, an Apple premium reseller. And would you believe it - they had exactly one unit left, in my wanted specifications too. They couldn't sell it to me fast enough :D

Check local first folks.. it just might pay off ;)

Hey guys, was considering making a new thread but might as well just post it here.
So I was an iPhone user but last year I decided to give Android a try by purchasing the affordable yet quite good OnePlus One. It was great phone overall except the microphone which was really really suck on recording in a loud environment. And being an Android phone, some apps crash A LOT! So decided to go back to iPhone and Apple really does step it up a notch with all these upgrades in hardwares this year.

Also I'm pretty set on getting the 64GB since 16GB is most certainly not going to be enough for me. I took a lot of photos and videos, plus the possibility of taking live photos and 4k videos put even more pressure on getting a larger capacity phone. I still couldn't justify why does Apple still sell the 16GB with 4k and live photos now in the picture. I went to a lot of concerts, like at least once a week. My instagram and vsco grid are dedicated for concert-only pictures.

Now onto the real problem which is: should I get the 6s or 6s+.
6S, on the one hand, can be operated with one hand. And I can easily take it out during a concert, take a couple of photos and slip it back right in. The problem with a larger phone is it forces you to use the both of your hands when taking pictures that I really hate and will probably block the view of someone behind you. BUT it has an optical image stabilisation, one single feature that I underestimated last year but made a real difference when you try to record a video. Please convince me on getting the 6S+. They do have a very similar dimensions to OnePlus One which I currently use but again sometimes I hate using it because it uses both of my hands to operate. But a large display is a definite plus. I mean streaming youtube videos, watching porn (don't judge me) are generally a better experience on a larger display. I certainly managed to survive a year with a large display phone and it seems phones are just getting bigger each year, it's just a matter of time till people are getting used to owning a large display phone. Oh yeah and battery. Did I just answer my own question? Please convince me though.

One concern though with the 6s+, are most 3rd party popular apps (Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) now support 1080p display of 6s+?

Also does Apple offer student discount for iPhone?

Sorry for the long post!

Completely up to you in terms of the size models, don't know till you try, I had the plus on the 6 launch but swapped it back for a normal 6 and feels so much better. Go into store and try both

@wanksy Yes forget the 16GB!! Absolutely pointless but I'm sure there is need for it if you're one of the people who don't take a lot of photos/videos or download a lot of apps.

I've never had a 6+ or 6S+ but I have tried them and they were too big for my average size hands and they felt uncomfortable in pocket etc. But many folk love the size as I'm sure you've discovered if you've been following this thread! The big positive for the 6S+ is obviously battery life compared to the smaller device and also the 6S+ has OIS for the camera but in my opinion the benefit is negligible in most situations.

I have a 6S and I do mainly use two hands for operation most of the time, you can get away with one handed operation on the 6S but I feel the phone is safer with two hands!

As you already have a phablet size phone then you should be fine with a 6S+ as the smaller 6S might feel tiny after the OnePlus One? Up to you, both models are excellent but if you want a longer lasting battery go for the 6S+...

OIS for the win. Works great for photos and videos, and as you've stated taking photos is a primary use for you I think the 6s plus is a no brainer as you'll get a lot of benefit from that feature. It could result in getting a great photo over an average slightly blurry one, especially if you're jostled by the crowd at a gig.

If you haven't seen it already check this out

I actually just ran to a store and tried them both, 6S+ definitely is very similar in terms of usability and reachability of the screen to the OnePlus One. I can live with it but I'd rather not. But I don't want to sacrifice the chance of taking better videos and pictures.

So just ran to an Apple store since I live 10-min walk away from one, the 6s isn't really that small, and although it is possible to take pictures with one hand, chances are the photos taken are blurry and it might be best, like you said, to operate it with two hands. Reading texts, updates can be done with one hand in either devices. Although holding and scrolling the 6S+ with one hand feels 'scarier'. So, decision, decision.....

I've seen the video, and it is the primary reason of why I'm considering the 6S+. Although one thing I noticed from trying it in the store earlier is that 4K videos are less stable than 1080p ones. Video recording in 1080p definitely is "smoother", if that makes any sense. Is it because of the frame rate? Also you cannot really see a difference on playing 4k videos in 1080p-display phone right? The same goes for the 760p of the 6s. You need an external display that supports 4K to really see the quality difference.

A good point a user in another forum did make though is this:
"I have a theory on this. Maybe OIS is included on the 6 Plus because you're more likely to have a shaky hand holding the bigger device as opposed to the 6/6S and it happens to be convenient enough to be one of the reasons to justify the price difference."

Hey everyone, I've been following this thread (as I do every year) since the new 6S/6S+ was announced. I love to see everyone's excitement build as launch day gets closer and of course on launch day itself. I have never been quick enough/had the funds available at the right time to pre order for delivery on launch day. I usually end up being able to upgrade by end of October/beginning of November. This year I have decided to switch networks so have sold my gold 6 now to clear my fee for leaving EE early and to pay the £99 upfront cost to three which means I am currently using my old 4S which is taking a lot to get used to lol.
I am very excited now though as I have got a 64GB Rose Gold 6S on the way, estimated delivery is Tuesday 6th October. This is the closest to launch day I've ever upgraded, hopefully next year I will have the funds available to join you all for the launch day hype. :)

Milton Keynes came through with the reservation.

Specialist who served me was fantastic... Trying to find some employee number or something on the invoice so I can let them know what a credit to them she was!

They even had the new colour sport bands in stock. Grabbed a turquoise one.

[Way off-topic tidbit for total nerds like me who love to hear about the internal goings-on at Apple: the turquoise strap is "glacier" on the stocking system. Maybe the original name for it that was revised?]

I've used Milton Keynes before and not only was the advisor knowledgable and really helpful she was damn attractive!
