Haha! What can I say... I'm addicted to Apple Pay!!

Only opened the TSB account to make use of the 5% on contactless payments. Once it finshes at the end of 2016 I'll probably close it.

I've opened a TSB account as well, just waiting for the card to come through. Purely for the 5% back for contactless. I'll use it for buying lunches and coffee's etc.

In a way I'm glad I did open a TSB account; their Internet Banking is a relic of the Lloyds' days before Lloyds changed their website and made a hash of it!

They still using a WebView for their phone app?

No they updated their app a while ago. It's pretty good now. Just need them to update the resolution for larger screens then I'm perfectly happy with it.

The online banking however, is a completely new redesign (by 3 year old's) everything is so squashed together it's silly. Feels like it needs to but some weight on to stretch out and fill the screen more. It's also really difficult to find options or services, when you do find them, they are in weird places and not where you would expect them to be, if you see what I mean.

I was doing well with my 6S Plus but either it has developed a slight rattle on the earpiece or I just didn't notice it before now. It is slight, but I have kind of tuned into it. It is mainly female voices that are quite resonant that seem to trigger it. I found someone else with a similar issue that used the pre-recorded press1,press2, Tesco Clubcard Freephone number as a test for it (0800 591 688) and sure enough that does stimulate the rattle on my phone. Most conversations it happens barely so I wouldn't notice it, but there is the odd voice that makes it really irritating. It is not a blown speaker and it doesn't sound like a loose speaker. It sounds like a resonance issue. For that Tesco Clubcard one, I would have to turn the volume down to about 1/3 to eliminate it. And having it 100% or 60% doesn't make much difference...in fact if anything at 100% its better because the rattle doesn't increase but the volume of the person talking does, making it less noticeable.

I found that if the call is an "HD" voice call it doesn't happen...and if I switch "hearing aid" on in accessibility settings which I think filters out some of the resonant peaks, it gets rid of it too.

I have just been robbed!

Just used my new TSB account for Apple pay at my local store. Bought my lottery tickets and a few other things come to £24 exactly. Paid using my phone no problems checked my receipt and was charged £24.50? Challenged the bloke behind the counter and was told it was 50p charge for using my card.

Surely this is not right, later went in to town and bought a loaf from Greggs for 90p used my card and only charged 90p.

Was I being done by my local ethnic shop?

I find round my way the local small shops charge for card payments. Some charge when paying below £10 other will charge for any amount. Saying that, they should have told you charging you.

Some smaller shops charge a credit card surcharge. Paying with the Apple Pay mechanism would result in this same charge. However the shop assistant should have mentioned this as it was him that would have specifically added the 50p surcharge rather than the machine. It is not illegal to charge a credit card premium, however it is unacceptable not to mention/warn the customer before accepting the electronic payment.
