I have just been robbed!

Just used my new TSB account for Apple pay at my local store. Bought my lottery tickets and a few other things come to £24 exactly. Paid using my phone no problems checked my receipt and was charged £24.50? Challenged the bloke behind the counter and was told it was 50p charge for using my card.

Surely this is not right, later went in to town and bought a loaf from Greggs for 90p used my card and only charged 90p.

Was I being done by my local ethnic shop?

Where I work we charged 50p for transactions under £5 for around six months before my Boss dropped the idea altogether.

We lost a lot of custom during that period (in fact there are several people who've never returned!) but we always told people there would be a charge.

As it's a Debit card it should be cheaper to process in terms of fees so really 50p does seem excessive (especially with a £24 spend).

But your retailer should have told you so you could have changed your mind and used cash (or opted out of the transaction altogether).

I was doing well with my 6S Plus but either it has developed a slight rattle on the earpiece or I just didn't notice it before now. It is slight, but I have kind of tuned into it. It is mainly female voices that are quite resonant that seem to trigger it. I found someone else with a similar issue that used the pre-recorded press1,press2, Tesco Clubcard Freephone number as a test for it (0800 591 688) and sure enough that does stimulate the rattle on my phone. Most conversations it happens barely so I wouldn't notice it, but there is the odd voice that makes it really irritating. It is not a blown speaker and it doesn't sound like a loose speaker. It sounds like a resonance issue. For that Tesco Clubcard one, I would have to turn the volume down to about 1/3 to eliminate it. And having it 100% or 60% doesn't make much difference...in fact if anything at 100% its better because the rattle doesn't increase but the volume of the person talking does, making it less noticeable.

I found that if the call is an "HD" voice call it doesn't happen...and if I switch "hearing aid" on in accessibility settings which I think filters out some of the resonant peaks, it gets rid of it too.

Following up on my own post. The problem must have been there from day 1. I compared it with both my parents iPhone 6 (not s) and they BOTH rattle in exactly the same way in exactly the same places. In fact I am wondering if it isn't a rattle at all but some kind of weird distortion that is at the "software" level as the fact they all do it identically would be impossible otherwise.

Apple are messing up big time this year. Apple Magic Mouse 2 with the stupidly placed lightning port on the bottom, the ugly iPhone 6S 'Smart' Battery case, iPhone 6S protruding camera lens.

Someone's got to have a word with the guy designing these products...

Isn't the protruding lens on the 6 too?

Apple sure have released some questionable products this year. MacBook (only one USB-C port) Magic Mouse 2 (Lightning port on the bottom), the silly iPhone battery case and the Pencil (plugging it into the iPad Pro lightning port.

Don't want to be that guy, but I'm pretty sure if Steve was still around all these products would have been a lot different.

Steve will be turning in his grave with most of these products

Not much difference than the 6+. I did try the 6s recently but so used to the bigger version which means I won't go back to a smaller phone.

I had a 6S but find the battery runs out too quickly with heavier use and I'm using it alot more recently, it was fine for light use though, so decided to give the 6S+ a try with the larger battery. I'll see how I get on with it!

If Steve had been alive when the iPhone 4 was released we would never have had antennagate.

If Steve had been alive when the G4 cube had been released we would never have had cracking plastic casing.

If Steve had been alive when the Mac had been released it would have had more than 128K of RAM

I thought he was alive when iPhone 4 came out? Didn't he die the following year?

He was alive and had was the one who told everyone they weren't holding it correctly. Also alive for the G4 and it was Steve who introduced the Mac.

Get your facts straight instead of posting some overheard conversation.

Oh dear. Hear that whooshing sound? That's my point zooming over your heads.

Oh I get it now. Got confused as you didn't reply or quote anyone. I see it was one of those smart arse posts that indicate your jokes are superior and that if no one gets them, then it goes way past our inferior heads. Meaning that you gain validation from your peers. Bravo

Just bought the 6S plus silicone case and wow does it feel nice and thin. Barely notice there's a case on it

Got same for my mini 4

got a 6S+ space grey 64gb today. been wanting to come back to iphone for a while. tried the 5S out when that was released but didn't click with me. skipped the 6 and got a Nexus 5 to hold me out to the 6S. so finally today i had enough money to buy it. got myself it as a nice christmas present haha!.

so happy with it. the phone itself looks and feels amazing. iOS runs fast and smooth for me. nothing bad to say about it.
