Easiest preorder ever for me too – grabbed the iPhone Air Black 256GB at 13.01. Weirdly, Safari let me in way before the App Store did.

Honestly thought the Air would be the big seller, but it looks like only the Pros are slipping into October. Either that, or Apple stacked up massive stock this time.

Dunno what’s going on with Very today they’ve really dropped a b*llock on this release.

Uploaded all the 17s/Pros/PMs/Airs at 1300. Then some disappeared then some came back then some disappeared again. They still have 17s, Airs and even a couple of Pros for delivery on the 19th but all PMs have either been listed as out of stock or unavailable since they went live. I’m sure the pages will actually go live at some point but god knows when.

Normally buy through Very, BNPL it for 12 months then sell the old model take the £400 hit or so in one then order the new model and rinse and repeat, but might be missing out this year unless they get their act together.

I am seething.

I'm going out of the country next Saturday for three weeks (France, Spain, Morocco road trip in our camper), so I wanted to find out the other day what the limit for trade in was. I have a 15 Pro Max that I wanted to trade in. 14 days - they can't extend it. I'll likely be out of the country when the box arrives.

Fine, I'll sell it privately - probably get a bit more money for it, but it's a hassle and it means the monthly payments will be higher for the 17 Pro Max that I wanted. No bother, I'll put the money I get for my 15 Pro Max towards the new phone to offset the monthly cost (I know it wouldn't reduce the monthly payments, it would just shorten the loan).

The chat person I talked to said 'Oh you should 'get ready to pre-order' so I did. I got the Barclays finance stuff sorted and it added a phone to my basket ready for pre-ordering today.

13:00 comes around - the app on the phone says 'Stay at this screen until pre-orders open'. It sits there for 5 minutes. Finally I'm in and all I have to do is press the pre-order button.

I then get an email with the delivery date not the 19th as I'd expected it to be (like every other item I've ever pre-ordered - the day Apple says it'll be available is the day I get the item.). But No. No no no....On my order it says between the 24th and 29th. There literally will be no one here to accept it.

I phone Apple up - the first bloke, couldn't give a toss. His computer was down too, so couldn't be bothered about anything. He puts me through to someone else when I said I wanted to cancel my order, I could barely understand him - tried to cancel but the order is not showing up on their system. Told to check back in an hour - surprise surprise, nothing is different. So I need to call back again to cancel the order.

I guess the only saving grace is that when I'm back from my trip, I'll be able to do the trade in with Apple and get the cheaper monthly finance price.

Is no one buying the Air? They're still available on the 19th
I have, should get it a week today. Can’t wait!

I havent pre-ordered yet.
Just checked and I can order now and still pickup on release day lol

I dont get the rush. I'm waiting to see the colours in person at the store before I decide to order. I'm not fussed about getting it on release day.

QUESTION:

15 Pro Max 512GB

On Finance you get Applecare+ with theft and loss for £9.99 a month for 24 months - I'm assuming it can be changed to ongoing beyond this if needed?

If I pay for the phone up front, the same Applecare is £11.99 a month ongoing

Why the difference?

Because if you pay upfront it's for 2 years, Finance is broken into 24 months... I think?

I’ve decided to skip the Air and go with the 17 Pro Max 512GB in silver.

Honestly, the Air’s battery just wouldn’t hold up for a full day, and slapping on a MagSafe defeats the whole point of having a sleek, ultra-thin device.

Judging by the pre-orders, it looks like a lot of people feel the same way.

I would leave it for a bit before cancelling,

If you were only 5min in, then chances of your delivery date improving is pretty good.

Seen it many times before

So i've taken out the 24 months barclays, but will go into the Apple store with my phone a couple days after launch and cancel and switch it over to the IUP.

This way I guarantee getting the phone.
Didn't know that was possible. Do you need to keep the box unopened?

The EE forum is my guilty pleasure this time of year, especially on Thursday when people find out they won't be getting it delivered on Friday despite multiple phone calls and the reassurance of multiple agents. lol
I’m on EE for my airtime but have the phone from Apple. Transferring eSIM between phones when doing the Apple upgrade is a ball ache. That’s why I still have a physical SIM.

Ok let me try again.

If you buy Applecare+ (T+L) upfront for 2 years you get a discount. It costs £239 for 2 years when paid upfront. 9.99 x 24months = £239.
